Hello internet! Thank you so much for watching. If you're new here, welcome! I hope you liked the features I talked about in this video. It's very confusing when you buy a camera and then have all of these settings staring at you and you don't know where to start! I hope in some small way this video helped some people get started with their sony a6000 (or other camera). Let me know in the comments other features/settings you set on your camera!

To anyone who has watched this video, THANK YOU! I have since gotten a better mic, and have gotten a bit better at this CZcams thing! Thanks for watching this video or any of them!
hikyletaggart ... Thank you so much...now that makes sense I!...great job BTW!
Anytime! New video tonight. 😊✌🏻
the first thing i cant understand, why cannot recover?
Recover what?
Thanks for this video. Have you got a video explains what is “zebra” mode?
Thank you so much. I got mine last year during the Christmas holidays.
I am a complete amateur and this will be helpful in learning more about my camera. On a budget so these you tube vids are my way of learning.
Thanks again. 👍
No problem Luis! Keep at it, take it with you wherever you go and keep shooting!
Had a thought about getting the Sony A6000, seems like it's a good-to-go for beginners. Thanks for the tips!
Amazing! Just that I needed. I had this camera for a few months and I didn't know about the E-AF and I was looking for. Best regards from Mexico.
Awesome man! Glad this helped you Gustavo! ✌🏻
So so so helpful! I just got this camera and I love it so it’s nice to find new things to love about it!
Awesome! Thanks and I’m glad I could help!
I just bought the a6000 and all the menu options are crazy! This video really helped, thanks! It would be cool if you could go little more into detail for example for the fn settings, because I have no clue what to set there haha. I am also wondering how I can make good photo’s during sunset or low light conditions, would be cool to see a video about that!
Welcome to the a6000 fam! Haha. I think a settings / custom buttons video is definitely coming soon! Thanks for watching! 🙌🏻
Yeah Sony a6000 is good camera
Yeah, I need the 'why' not just the 'how'.
A BIG thank you for this video. I just bought my a6000. These are things I would have never figured out, or not quickly. Appreciate you sharing. Happy shooting.
Awesome! Thanks for checking this out Terri!
Those tips are really helpful for me! Thx!
Amazing, I had the camera for a year now and didn’t know about the Clear image zoom, it’s amazing.
Thank you for your video
No problem! Glad it helped. Thanks so much for checking it out!
Clear Images Zoom is not optical, it crops the image, so you end up losing image quality.
It does not lose significant or noticeable quality. Clear Image Zoom uses an pattern recognition database to reproduce the image. I don’t understand it fully, but it works! There is a video made by Sony on YouTue that explains it and also shows optical zoom vs clear image zoom. It’s on the “Sony | Camera Channel” channel lol.
hikyletaggart: I stand by my original statement, the image is cropped and there is a loss in image quality, Sony uses algorithms which compare adjacent pixels and predict what the missing pixels should be; but never-the-less' its still a prediction algorithm. Yes I do agree the Sony algorithms seem to work better than those from other brands; but you cannot say predicted pixels will ever compare to real data perfectly.
Obviously predicted pixel filling works best in scenes were you have regular patterns, but give it a scene like foliage; and clear-zoom will have an hard time(relatively speaking).
I agree. Clear image zoom works incredibly well for what I’ve used it for. I enjoy it a lot!
I just bought this camera and I'm super excited since it's my first SLR, your video was super helpful and very informative so thank you very much brother, oh and I subscribed too :)
Thanks Peter! 🙏🏻 have fun with your new camera!
Thank you for this; it's helpful as I get to know my new camera. Interestingly, having just purchased mine in April 2019, the Image Rotation does its full-image rotation thing with the setting at "Manual".
You are crushing it with these a6000 videos. I recently purchased the a6000 as a backup camera to my a7rii and have loved the quality out of this little beast. Keep up the good work!
Thank you SO much Pedro! I am filming a video on accessories tonight. Glad a full frame user like yourself likes these videos! I’m drooling over possibly buying an A7III...possibly in 2018.
I agree the A7iii is looking like a mean machine at a great price. Most of my work is portrait photography but I consider myself a hybrid shooter. Love photography and also love videography! A7iii is a no-brainer for 2018.
If I get that, I will probably make 100 videos on it haha. Btw, the accessories video is live! ✌🏻
Thanks for the information, it was helpful!
Just acquired this camera - first video I watched. Very encouraging.. Thank you.
No problem! Enjoy your new camera. Hope more videos of mine help!

Great work
Thanks!
Subscribing JUST based on this vid alone...very helpful in making my finalizing my decision to go with the a6000...
Plus- yer wearing a Black Panther shirt that i OWN and is one f my faves...lol
Haha perfect! I have two black panther shirts. Need more! 🙌🏻😎
Thanks! Ya did real good!
Eye af is a nice feature but it really shines in the a79, a7iii, and a7iii where it actually tracks the eye. Another thing to consider is back button af. With it set and afc, you can effectively use phase detect with ael and single point af with the middle button on the scroll wheel. Couple with face detection and you have full control of the camera. Back button af does take bit to get use to though but once you get it, you'll not got back.
You’re right about back button focus! Which I also want to make a quick video about it. I’m just happy the a6000 has this feature at all! Thanks so much for checking this video out and commenting!
awesome video ! i have had my a6000 and I didnt realize how many things I could change.
Awesome! Hope it helps!
Helpful, thanks!
thank YOU for watching! :)
I was very close in buying the canon g37 but I heard great reviews on the Sony a6000 so I bought it and I’m very happy with it. I’m still trying to test out my camera because there are so much options
Oh nice! Yeah there are a lot of options! You can always get better lenses too in time. I’ve been using it for 2+ years now.
really helpful, thank you so much
No problem! 😁
you are GOD SENT. i've had this camera for 2 years now and i have no idea how to use it lol.
Haha glad you found the channel!
Thank you for all the tips. I also have a6000 for a year now. But i have not really explore the settings. I used my go pro for vlogging.
I used the a6000 for quite some time and vlogging. With the kit lens set to 16mm and the focus mode on wide and face recognition on, it works really well! ✌🏻
Great video!
Thanks 😊
Good job. New to digital photography and I have no idea what to press. Helped me.
Awesome! Thanks.
Loved your tips and demos...hubby just bought me one for mother's day...little surprised it is 4 years since it's release...best buy tech recommended it...was going to get the Canon EOS rebel t6idslr ....hope we made the right choice for a beginner
It’s a great choice for a beginner! Hope you enjoy it!
Great video. Thank you so much. Like you, I find the not be able to rotate is annoying. I'll try on my camera today to see if I can turn that off. Also, the clear image zoom makes it looks like the camera can do macro shots. :)
Thanks for the support Danny! Glad this helped!
Thank you so much. So many useful tips. Do you have videos on lighting. Shooting night photos
Not yet! Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks bro ...i did the setting on my A6000 watching this video ...good job ...make videos on comparison between lenses available in the market ...thanks
Lots of lens comparisons on the channel! Thanks so much
Thanks for your useful video
Thanks for tuning in!
Quick tip for people trying to balance this camera with gimbals, expecialy Crane v2.
On most of tutorials the camera after proper process of balancing can be moved to whatever position and stays in that position.
But to do that with Sony A6000 camera we have to attache some kind of a HotShoe gear (to add more weight to the top of the camera) or to level up the whole camera (i.e. by using a quick release mounting plate). We have to do that because there is no enough regulation on an arm that holds the plate. By regulating it we are levelling motor axis with camera's center of the weight axis.
Thanks! I'm watching your video in 2019 and I'm thinking buy an a6000 just for start in the photography world!
It's a great starter camera!
Love your videos bro.. and The music lol always tryna fine the music
Thanks Shawn! Here’s a link to where I get my music share.epidemicsound.com/hikyle ✌🏻
WOW! I didn’t know about the Clear image zoom. That is soooo cool. thank you! :)
No problem! Thanks for checking the video out!
@@kyletaggart is that Clear Image Zoom feature also can be using during video recording?
Yup!
@@kyletaggart tq bro!!!
Thanks a lot for your tips ! Could you make a vid about Home Studio shootings ? American, Portraits, Rembrandt lightning and so on ? Great work anyway, take care !
already giving a like for showing how to turn off the red light AF Illuminator lol thanks!
Haha thanks!
picking up an a6000 after a few years out of the photography game, was to-ing and fro-ing for a while between this and a canon 200d and honestly your enthusiasm for the camera sold me on it...even though Sony e-mount lenses are like twice/three times the price of canon lenses *insert crying emoji*
Haha I feel you. It’s a great camera, and when you’re ready to upgrade in the future there is the 6300 or 6500. It’s a great system and I think you’ll enjoy it!! 🙌🏻📸
thank sir, I'm from indonesia and i enjoyed your content..
Thanks so much!
Love the a6000, such a great value for the money.
Agreed!
Omg, I was just wondering how to turn off that red light the other day! Thanks 😂
Ya know, I’m here to serve the people! Haha. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips, I'm going to buy this camera, and I've wanted to watch some reviews first.
Awesome Allen, happy to help!
OMG thanks a lot!
This video looks even better than some of your more recent videos, do you know if you were doing anything differently then than now? We’re you just using a ring light? And what lens? Sony 35mm? This video looks great!!
I used soft light boxes back then with the ring light. I think that was the key. Using a single ring light now is much more convenient. I’m moving soon so a new studio setup is happening :) Filming in our living room is tough lol.0
@@kyletaggart oh wow, thats awesome! Excited to see the new studio! And man the a6000 is still winning in my opinion for the price and quality, I just recommended it to a friend who is just getting started. Keep the videos coming!!
Thanks for doing the video. Got A6000 3 months ago, and finding out stuff, then forgetting most of it. So back to the drawing board (or David Busch book or CZcams). Anyways really appreciate all five tips. Cheers
Glad I could help!
Nice video man
Thanks! 🥇
Yeah, like many I see I also recently bought the a6000. And I must say, for the price it is amazing. I mean I started out with Nikon. Had a D200 and shot with a D90, D500 and D800. Wish I owned those last two ones. Price range wise, they are not affordable for me. So in order to start shooting I browsed around for months actually.. And I'm super happy with my purchase. Thanks for the video, cause right now I'm getting to know my new cam and so far it's been joyful.
Thanks so much! So happy you’re enjoying it! Check amazon for used prices and eBay as well! Sometimes people sell lenses and you can scoop me up for $100 off or so!
This video is really useful for me! Btw should i change to touch screen camera? because it takes me so long to adjust the focus as a photography beginner. Hope to see more setting guides and tricks!
More of those coming! Are you having trouble focusing with the a6000? If so I would advise switching to Zone focus. Where you can position the zone on exactly what you want to be in focus!
I just upgraded from NEX5T to A6300 and had no regret for losing my touch-screen feature. I think it is too expensive to go for A6500 to get back touch-screen. I rather spend my money on the lens with autofocus and imagre stabilizer.
Just subscribed your channel man.. its awesome. 1 question only. Whats the best setting/way to take photos on low light with the stock lens? 😄
Lowest aperture (3.5), iso 800-1600, and adjust the exposure comp (+). Of course adjust in moderation.
Just love this camera, in the sense what it can do. It's a feature-packed cam for such a small gear. It took me quite a while in order to explore all its features, well, not all, yet :D It really can do wonders. By the way, a good video for new owners of this device.
Thanks! It’s such a little beast of a camera!
Yeah, it is :D
What kind of sd-card do you use on a6000?
Thanks for the helpful tips. Just got my camera and can't wait to use it
Have fun!
@@kyletaggart thanks!! Getting to know the camera is definitely a start. I almost need a guided tour through it. I miss 35mm. Lol.
I’m here for any questions!
@@kyletaggart I have ALL the questions.
Bring it! All I do is answer questions! 🤣🙌🏻
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing. How do I change the setting from RAW to Jpeg so I can use this zoom feature?
You can add it to the menu you see when you hit the FN button. That way it’s in a quick menu for you to go back and forth. Go to the second tab (gear symbol), Page 6, then Custom Menu Set. There you can add the option called “Quality” which is raw/jpeg to which ever row you want on the menu. Then to access it you hit the FN button and navigate to it and change it when you want in a quick matter! Hope this helps!!
Hey man!! I am just new to your channel, and i ve subscribed myself already. If i can, i would give you just an advice... I think you could mix better the audio of the videos, the one that got your voice... besides that, great job man! thank for the video, i think i will buy this camera in the next days.
thanks, I do everything myself and that is one area I'm always trying to improve. This video was when I didn't have a mic. New video today, you'll instantly hear the difference in mic quality lol
wow as someone who is receiving the camera today, this is so convenient!! Thank you!
So glad it’s helping you!
What Flash do you use for the A6000?
Actually haven’t used the flash or any flash yet with my photography. Definitely will be a future video! If you use the on camera flash you can angle it and bounce it. Neat little trick.
just bought the camera 2 nights ago. thanks for the intro.
Awesome! The tips n tricks playlist might help a lot!
Nice Video.Subscribed. 👍
Thanks so much!
Subscribed! Thinking of having one even if it was released 4 years ago.
🙌🏻😁
Hi. I just bought the A6000 and waching yuor video. The clearImage Zoom sounds great! But my zoom settings are grey (not changable). Any idea how come? Thx '-)
My camera doesn’t let me acces the photos and says they are set to private, do you know how to change this? Thank you!
