I just want to tell you guys how for real stoked I am on this camera. Obviously I filmed this first, and then edited it... But when I was editing I was blown away by this footage. If you're looking for a camera that won't break the bank... This is it! What do you think?
Have you updated any settings on the sony a6300 ?
Nope. Still the same as my last set-up video. Probably wont be changing anything until I've got a new camera :)
arre you planning getting a new ?
Of course! Just waiting for the right camera ;)
Cody the option of xavcs apears only when the firmware is updated to the las version that is 3.20
I have an A6000 and after seeing this video I spent a couple of hours doing some tests and.. damn, that -3 -1 -1 Neutral is the best combination possible for color grading! Thank you, Cody!
I cannot find where this setting is on the Menu - what tab is it under? Thanks!
Tamara Featherston Go to profile, then on the first setting (the camera) go to the fourth list, the down to creative style. From there go down to neutral but don’t click enter just yet. Using the control, go right (looks like a half moon) then change from there
thank you

Will this profile affect the photos too or is it only applicable for video once it's set up?
I was randomly watching tech videos and this video appeared, I am glad I finally found this incredible channel.

"using only this kit lense" makes me actually happy that I found this video! thanks for that :)
Is it a kit lense? I also have a sony a6000, but mine is actually 16-50mm. Does anyone know what's the difference between the two? Because they also look different. I'm new in photography, so I'm trying to get it through. Thanks guys!!!
@@francesco6094 They are similar. Just stick to the 16-50 and buy some primes when you have the cash.
Francesco Perra yea he’s not even using a kit lens. I think he thinks it’s a kit lens just because it’s a zoom
You nailed it, watching again this year, I jost ordered a a6000 for second camera and this video came back to light in my memory.
I’ve seen a few of your videos, but this was the one that made me know I should subscribe. You’re just honest with what you did, the specific settings, and how color grading is a big reason your footage is good. I’ve felt many youtubers focus only on focus or shutter speed but you covered it all just enough for a super inexperienced videographer to learn and know I could do it too. Thanks bro!
Glad it helped dude!! Thanks for the sub
Dude..... this was an awesome teaching video! Talked about it, showed it, then showed example clip!
Exactly how I like to learn, thanks! 😁
This was the first real camera I bought and it is seriously slept on! It's an amazing cheap camera . Definetly a good starter camera
Just bought an a6000, Thank you Cody for the awesome specs info!
I'm so glad I've found your video!!! I'm a total newbie and I'd like to start filming myself while illustrating and drawing but I had no idea what camera should I invest in. Thanks to you, everything is pretty clear now - totally going to get the Sony a6000 and start playing with it until I get the hang of it and evolve from there :) Cheers and keep it up - love your channel!!!
Incredible stuff Cody! Beautiful cinematography!
Glad you posted another video brother. Always look forward to your content
Thanks for this video. Going to follow your advice for now and stick with my phone camera but this one looks manageable when I work my way up. Thank you for being great at responding to Instagram as well.
omg thank you! this video really helps me...
New subscriber here. I just stumbled across your page and now I’m binge watching all your Sony a6000 videos. I’m new to the photography world so I truly find all of your videos extremely detailed and easy to understand. Thank you!
Your videography is rather exceptional. Naturally gifted with that much polish is flat out inspiring. 👍
man.. i have that camera, actually i think i bought it because this video of yours convinced me. the camera is amazing! i took more than a hundred pics per day the past two years and it rocks!. But im still trying to do some of what you showed here and... cero creativity comes out of my head so the credits of this video are for your entirely. You are an artist man! the vast mayority of us envy you. cheers!
How to avoid noice in sony alpha a6000y
Thank you so much for creating content like this! Your vids are super helpful, approachable and visually pleasing to watch. I’m learning so much! Just bought the a6000 and I was a little worried it would be too irrelevant in 2018; but after watching this I think otherwise. Keep up the great content!
This helped a lot! I’m just learning about cinematography and about my a6000. These settings are absolutely incredible!
Your videos are so good and informative, glad i found your channel!
I own the a6300 and super happy with it, plus i use your PictureProfile. :)
Nice man! Glad you find it helpful
I almost find it strange cause I read it "I use your profile picture" for the first time.. XD
Just a tip, if you don’t find XAVC on your a6000, then you need to upgrade the software. You need a 64 GB memory card to use it too. If you have a slow memory card or a smaller capacity memory card, it is going to show but won’t let you record.
Thanks, my A6000 is quite old, from 2015 and was on version 1. I updated to 3.2 and the XACV option is now there.
Awesome awesome awesome stuff here. This is all information I was looking for in the first couple of months in purchase of this set up- all smashed into one video. Very useful.
Heey, great video, BTW ALMOST 30K, Happy to seeing you growth!
The a6000 is still pretty amazing!
Hello I need to choose between the sony a5100 and the a6000. Which 1 should I go for?
SignOfZodiac If you are replying to me.. Than i will edit in PC.. I need to choose between a5100 vs a6000
Cody Blue - a6000 is a good choice
Cody, you're an amazing cinematographer. Loved your work
I bought the cam with a 16-50mm kit lens which is thinner than yours.. but my kit lens produces very low quality footage.. despite of its focal length range, what is the other differences from your 18-55mm kit lens?
It's funny, I was shooting a music gig and was worried because one of the extra cameras would be an a6000, once I looked into it, it's actually really good. Sure it doesn't have pro features but definitely works looks really great as you've shown here. Pretty cheap now too.
OMFG long anticipated video! thanks broooo
dude, the last video of yours, sick!!! i had these tears of joy. awesome!
XAVC-S on A6000 requires 64gb or bigger high speed SDXC card (class 10), also firmware update is required on some older samples, since Sony added the codec later to A6000. Love the camera, can't beat it for the price, have also A6300 :D.
alikgriffin.com/best-sd-memory-card-for-the-sony-a6000/
Only camera i think can beat it is Lumix g7 and its cheaper
How do you update the firmware? Do I have to connect to wifi ?
What will happen if i dont update my firmware? a6000 user here
Regarding image quality Sony is way better. And G7 it is not cheaper, but even mere expensive in my country. It is almost on par with A6300.
I'm using a6000 for 3 years and I just know this setting. Thank you very much for the video, it really helps!
Such an underrated camera, has its part. Even in 2019! Nice job on the video!
Getting into cinematography filming my own movies. This was a great vid and answered a lot of questions for me! Thanks!
Thanks Cody much needed video. Well I was torn between A6000 & A6500. You made me realize a6000 is still a beast. I can put on the money for lenses on my a6000. Greetings from India. Namaste
Yeah man it's almost always better to invest in glass. Keep in mind there's no microphone input on the a6000 and no picture profiles. But the footage is awesome.
Cody Blue what do you mean no microphone input? So no using an external microphone?
Nekita Keets you can use sony's proprietary microphone "Sony: ECMXYST1M" it has a "mic out" port but it also works as a "mic in" if you want to use other microphones. But be aware, that only microphones that have its own power like the Rode Wireless Go or Rode Video Mic Pro/+ works with the Sony: ECMXYST1M .. Hope that helps
The Best Video i Have EVER SEEN !
I have a new a6000 video you should check out 😉
I would search "Use Sony as Live camera"
Thank you so much, truly amazing to help people out that are learning! Amazing footage.
Thank you for this video I appreciate it so much just picked this camera up last week and ready to make some cinematic videos with t your content is gold please keep it up!
FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN'T FIND THE XAVC S OPTION: You need to go on to Sony's website and download the drivers for the a6000. It was an update put out for the camera in around 2014.
Now that deserve a sub my friend.
Thank you 🙏
I love the sample you put together for us and thank you for the great tips and tricks!
Youve helped me rediscover my A6000 that ive had since 2015, and will be getting back into photography and doing videos. Thanks again! :)
The a6000 at 50Mbps is still a pretty good camera. You can see some artifacting when the frame is busy but, over all it still holds up even in 2020.
What memory card do you use and recommend so that I can shoot in the highest quality possible? Love your vids and thanks!
he has the sandisk extreme pro 128GB on his amazon page $39.50
You need a sdxc and not a sdhc
Good Stuff Bro! Shooting all of my videos with this little fellow and I am still super happy with it! Even shot entire music videos just with the a6000 + 35mm lens.
keep it up mate!
Greeting from Berlin
Very helpful video Cody. I'm just starting to shoot video with my a6000. Your video will give me a great start. Love the footage you've included too.
a6000 still going strong!
I just got one for 300
Yep! Just got mine today.
Also, how do you deal with underexposure / overexposure ? I was so afraid of blown highlights that always underexposed shots a bit... but that brougth out a lot of ugly noise when color correcting... what is your advice ? Thanks !!!
Greg Paradi - Gergely Paradi answer this!
try using histogram or zebra?
You can custom set zebras to any value you want. If things look blown out at 100, change the setting to 90 and try again
No, I have a different issue here. I have Nikon cameras for 15 years, for photography, and was used to underexpose so that I could retain info from darker areas and never blow out whites. But in a6000 I used the Portrait profile for video, with the same method I couldn't get anything back from the shadow areas, but very noisy material. And all the videos and tutorials I have seen here in YT showed a very good video quality... that's why I bought the a6000... so I don't know what am I doing wrong---- I was expecting much better video quality
Greg Paradi - Gergely Paradi Hey 6000 doesn’t do video log profiles limiting headway post. I suggest experimenting with all profiles and make adjustments to the ones you like four different scenes. The a6000 Takes great video if adjusted in camera
Thanks for this. I just purchased an a6000 and this super helpful.
Awesome Cody, thanks for making my day. I have the Sony A5100 flip screen and the settings go over really well with this camera. Can't wait to go out and try these settings, will have to wait as it's raining so hard here in England lol.
Just made a test with your "pic profile", looks very good, will have to shoot a few more and test color grading, but so far it gives nice and soft images with the 16-50 kit lens (with is a gift of gods in its "kit" category) :-)
Fred I was impressed with what range I had using these settings. Way more than what I had when editing one of my videos. Check out the video on my page-it’s the one with the butt ;) The thing that took a little getting used are the colors on the camera. Everything looked so drab, and this is a very vibrant and saturated lens. I loved that about it. But if you can wait till post, it’s better.
For those people who may have bought their a6000 second hand make sure you have the most updated firmware on the camera in order to actually see the XAVCS option
Ryan Trotter cheers!
I've just bought this camera, how do I update the firmware?
Thanks for this video. Bought an a6000 over a year ago on a whim and it pretty much sat unused but am discovering it’s great to start learning to shoot film on.
I am new to your video and loved it , u telling the straight up points so people doesn't really know about camera (beginners) can easy to understand. thumbs up
music please at 6.24min, i cant find it with the discription infos
Yooo. Thanks for pointing that out. I totally have the wrong songs there. It's "Wild Cat" by Animal Kingdom.
yeahh, great! sposibo :-)
Hears like the Intro for the band The XX
Cody Blue I still can’t find this song(((((
Cody Blue are you sure this is the “Wild cat”?
I type to learn about my a6000 this guy telling me about his a6300 yes lol 😂
Amazing work truly inspiring
I love the Neutral mode now after you share this settings. Nice video Cody :-)
I still love my A6000, fantastic beginners camera, no 4k, but who needs it, I never once, didn't watch a video because
it was only 1080p... I wish they would come out with an A6000m2, with a mic and headphone jack, priced at about,
$600.00 us... That would be awesome for budget burdened beginners... Thx, Moses...
I didn't even realize. I can't even use my video mic pro
The lady is so beautiful 😣❤
Damn right she is
i was starting to feel like a creep glad someone else was thinking the same thing lol
All the camera lmao :)
no butt tho
Vincent Medina cause they don’t have good butts?
