Tf tuned rules! Best customer service experience I’ve had in my life. Everyone I talked to on the phone was genuinely interested in my problems with the fork and they did a stellar job in fixing them at light speed!
I'd agree totally- spring 2021 I decided to give a 2011 pair of 26" Tora 302's their first ever lower leg service (don't panic, the bike was built with On-One Inbred frame and DT Swiss x1800 wheels, SLX when it was 9spd and was used just a few times and left in the shed)....Got the kit from TFT and had some real issues with what exactly the spec of the forks was as they had no foam rings, think they were OEM cheapos, they were like press fitted metal rings with a circlip above that didn't seem to do anything but on assembly I cut the 10mm foam rings to 5-6mm and got them levered under the metal ones, but the guy I contacted throughout was brilliant, super knowledgeable.... They're working fine and good as new again!! (but 26 still sucks)
They certainly know their stuff when it comes to suspension! 👍
Ive used TF tuned for years and never had an issue with any fork or shock they serviced for me. They are also brutally honest, if its cooked. Its cooked!
Best forks I’ve ever ridden on were a 2012 Rockshox Sektor with a coil spring, I was able to purchase a heavier spring from TF and it was so simple to change it all over myself - the plushness of coil forks is rarely bettered by air springs.
I always service my own forks , once you have bought the correct tools it is quite strait forward and a lot less hassle than removing your forks and sending them away, TF sells all the parts and oil for home servicing
Who is responsible for that rebound dial on wrong side? :D
A nice video thx. Though a very interesting and important part of info was left out. What would that service have cost? It really matters when considering between servicing and new fork.
All prices are on TF tuned Website RockShox stuff is 115 pounds for service same price for rear suspension. So doing both fork and shock would cost 230 + shipping costs.
expensive asf
I have an old RS duke in my workshop.
I'll have a look at them now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Word to the wise, if you are at all interested in doing your own suspension serving including the damper for both fork and shock, Rockshox is an infinitely better product than Fox. Damper rebuilds on Fox often require a vacuum pump and at times hideously expensive proprietary tooling. Rockshox on the other hand use simple affordable tooling a relatively cheap 600 psi shock pump and only a bit of patience. Also everyone should learn to do their own lower fork service!
I had to do a fox 36 fork a couple of years back with fork suck problem. Was ok actually. There was a big blob of grease blocking the port. I used Doddy's tutorial. I wouldn't want to do an more than that. But I have rockshox only on my own bikes now
I guess your experience is with much older Fox forks as it's pretty easy on recent 36s with less tools than I need for Boxxers
Great video as always. I might just send them my fox 34’s as i’m a lighter rider. Thanks for doing this type of video 😁👍🏻
No problem! It's good that people understand what can go wrong with suspension. 👍
Nice videography on this one. Proves you don’t have to always buy new to get a ‘new’ fork
Exactly! You can often save what you already have! 👍
Acompanho seus vídeos , são exelentes ; obrigado
Wow! They know their stuff! Next on the list a water bottle cage that works :D
Really like how professional that man is 🙂
Yeah, Greg knows his stuff about suspension!
the question is how all of that would cost....considering the travel upgrade parts and labor....
Inquiring minds would like to know the costs involved. Any chance you could go over the invoice with us?
Would love a follow-up video with your reaction to the difference
Fix or throw entirely depends kn how good/valuable the fork is.
Suntour xcr bin it.
Decent pike fix it. Or if its not worth fixing now keep them till they become retro and then fix them haha.
I bought a set of 2008 fox f series 120 rlc for £20 with badly leaking seals
Stripped them down cleaned new seals. New fluids
Used them for a few years
Recently sold them to someone in the usa for £190
Makes me wish TF Tuned was here in the US. Unfortunately, our local fork/shock tuner moved to Middle Earth a couple years ago.
I had a Marzocchi Bomber Z1 that all of a sudden didn't want to compress, even with all air removed it would barely compress to 50% travel. Issue seemed to be to much grease in the air chamber, cleaning it out and applying the right amount of grease and oil, fork was nice and supple agaun
Top company to deal with.
Always used to use tftuned, but living in Spain, Brexit stopped that, such a shame, maybe one day there is a way the customs can be streamlined and the cost of shipping lowers.
Sorry to hear this, Brexit hurts everyone. Brits who shopped abroad, EU friends who shopped in Britain.
These folks are very impressive. Any recommendations for someone with similar capabilities in the US?
Rebuilt an old rockshox Totem with 2017 air spring. That is the best fork ever…
When it comes cross country bike which fork is best rock shock Sid ultimate or fox stepcast 32 or there are other options for 29er bikes.
If you don't have boost hub spacing, there are almost no air sprung forks out there that are over 120mm. Rebound damper went in my Fox Talus 29 that is 140mm, and it impossible to find the part. It would have cost me about $300 for the damper, if I found it. I opted to get a 110mm boost fork and found a 100mm -110mm boost conversion kit. Went up to 150mm and it is great fork, but it sucks that you have to started looking at used forks to find parts. In the end, it just wasn't worth waiting and paying to fix a 10 year old fork. I had to spend $700 to get back on the trail. : (
Interesting that they stuck with the B1 air spring rather than the newer C1 which was "all conquering" when it came out. Would have been nice to see exactly what changes they made to both shim stacks.
Still annoyed that SRAM no longer offer Charger spares for the current models
C1 air springs were crappy upgrades. Funnily RS went back to larger negative volumes on 2023 fork models.
@@viitakeitto The Vorsprung Luftkappe was a fantastic upgrade for the solo air but the notes on their website said it wasn't for people who cared about travel o-rings. Rockshox copied it but didn't educate riders so the C1 came about primarily to resolve complaints about "lost" travel. Some people genuinely prefer the C1 but when you look behind the marketing curtain, it seems the B1 is more suited to most riders. Hard to find B1 shafts now but I think it should be offered as an option. Footnut and seal head for less than £30
@@steveedwards5280 Yes, that is exactly how it was. Tried the C1 on lyrik briefly and it made the front end feel broken compared to the coil shock at the back. No "lost" travel at the car park tho..🤣
I upgraded to C1 because I wanted longer travel, but I lost the nice supple top, to gain not blowing straight trough the travel.
Maybe I should swap the heads round next service ?
They are good on the big stuff, but a field that had a tractor go through it while it was wet is a nightmare.
@@kevinshort3943 swapping just the head around runs the risk of crashing it into the extended foot nut at bottom out. One of the best tips seems to be switching back to the B1 and removing the travel o-ring.
When you say you didn't have a rebound dial, did it break? Or was it never fitted and they were just able to retrofit one for you?
Or was it just not functioning as it was on the wrong leg? And why didn't anyone notice ??
At 38 seconds, the dude on the left looked like he was recorded separately and he was just pasted into the video in a separate box. 🤣
I was interested in the threaded bolt.....
I've got a collection of old bombers and dirtjumpers that feel brand new. Mine and my girlfriend newer rockshox have to have a lower leg service every few months or they feel like crap 😒
Does this bike come fully assembled?
It went together easily in less than an hour. czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
Any videos that cover Bombers from 2004? ;P
How much did that cost though? I wanna know if that’s even worth it
Sooo how much was that servicing?????
How much did that cost ? Would be nice to know!
I would guess between 150-200.
Did Doddy do the last service! 😂
If it’s an older fork I would just change it but if thier newer once I would service it
Yeah, it's best not to chuck away a perfectly fixable fork. 👍
I have a pair of Rock Shox Judy XC's I bought back in 2000, I was wondering if they're worth getting fixed?
Old basic forks aren't worth fixing vs a recent pair on sale. But any good fork will easily have 10 to 30 services in it's lifespan
What was the cost?
Hi, John! You can find out on their website for further details. www.tftuned.com/servicing
@@gmbntech thanks very much
Oh this Nukeproof hardtail! So beautiful! 😍😍😍 pity that I poor children without money and Nukeproof bikes not available in Ukraine😭
You guys were just getting over Communism. Good luck friend. 👍
Not hard to do this suff at home
Who was the last person to service the forks?! 🤦🏻♂️
Sam Pilgrim? 😜
😂
So, who did the previous (botched) service? C'mon, fess up!
LOL. I know right? Who down at GMBN doesn't know how to work on suspension?!!
It's all good if an experienced, non rushed , expert technician does the work. Is that likely ???
The music during the fork service and how Anna and Greg looked at each other and their body language created an intense level of sexual tension and energy.
Actually seems a bit lazy to me. Skilled mechanic would be able to take the bladder apart and go through that as well
