    I ordered one of these to use for testing out all my populated carriers one at a time to be sure they are balanced before final assembly. When I'm done with that I will build it up and use the little BMS and a 100W Harbor Freight PV array wired in parallel as the 24VDC charger. In fact I will use the PV array for the testing and balancing too.
    Some of you are asking for how-to's involving Solar. Once I get it all up and running on the bench I will try my first CZcams video. Things to consider are VOC (voltage open circuit) of the PV panel and the peak output voltage under load. A cold winter morning with bright sun is when you get that and only for a few minutes until the panels heat up. Anyway, I'll post a comment or two then.

    Hey cool thing you build there but there are some things you need to fix!
    using plastik screws and that typ of connector to get power in and out of your batteries is not really good you should use a metal screw and make sure that it won't get loose on its own by using a securing spacer
    Reason: if there is a not so good connection the resistance between the batteriemodule and the wire will be hight and can start to heat up thats the reason you should make sure its connected really good
    Please vote up for him to improve the design

    FYI, there's also 12 volt variant of this board on Alibaba, but just a question do this boards have any balance discharge feature at all? Or do you have to match your batteries before hand? It seems like that's a consideration when you might use these regularly. Otherwise, it's less labor intensive than having to spot weld or solder (bad idea I know but when you only need a couple pack you really don't want to have a hundred plus dollar spot welder hanging out on your bench lol) packs. Also, with this pack if I need a specific voltage like 12 volts should I get some LDO voltage regulators (I have to use those since my work is with active antennas and switching on shortwave radio is a problem) or just standard linear regulators?

  • @David.Sky.Walker
    @David.Sky.Walker Před 3 lety +1

    That QC 3.0 USB jawn will work properly at an input voltage range of less than 12 volts and more than 24 volts. So, it could easily drain your cells down past 2 volts, and possibly even closer to 1 volt per cell. Just a heads up.

    • @David.Sky.Walker
      @David.Sky.Walker Před 3 lety +1

      Jehu did mention in this video that you can only use it until the voltage hits 21v, then you have to recharge the batteries. An easy way to disconnect the QC charger would be to unscrew the fuse holder and remove the fuse until you recharge the pack back up to 29.4v.

    Is that a misstatement at 15m14s where you said it's a "70 watt hour kit", its 1S7c arrangement with seven cells in series to achieve 24+v. But the total amperage is the one cell rating of 2600mA, correct? You'd connect multiple sets of these boards in parallel to increase the Amperage available (amp hours).

If that's more preferable, what are the disadvantages and/or dangers of using battery holders? Also, does the order of placing batteries matter in these battery holders? Say, if I place one (place one, skip the next) alternately would there be a problem/danger?

      On the holder vs spot welding: holders are not ideal where a lot of vibrations are common, especially if you'd need a lot of power during said vibrations. E.g. on electric vehicles. Also, spot welding allows much higher currents than contacts.

I just don't have the equipment to mask and make PCB's anymore. Can I use two 25x kit in series to have a 48V battery array? I want to use the LiIon as a first stage and use my FLA's to drive the 12V equipment at minimum cycling. Two stage from the panels, high voltage, lower current through the FM60 (the 60 stands for the max current out so at 48V I can handle up to 12 standard 220W panels with a 5A over-voltage margin) and then a step down to 12V through the second FM80. @@getyourbone Pretty much my design, my bro gave me his 12V system to meld with mine. He used an FM80 with a temp monitor for FLA's. I have 8 220 poly panels and another 24/15W mono array for a total of 2120W nominal but I've seen the poly's peak out on a cold winter morning at around 240W. Building the 500W panel and it will be a 3D array I have plans from MIT for. I got the BMS's for the added layer of safety since the equipment box in the unheated/uncooled carport. I only have the one RTS. I'll be using TEG heat pumps to harvest waste heat for the fans and to do cooling.

    Could you tell me how you balance these batteries once you built a board and used it for a couple years

    I wonder if this would power an old 30V NiMH drill that I have... I might get one or two to test. 🤔
    Edit: done!

    Just an idea: since the little plastic stand-off is easy to break, maybe include a spare inside the package. It would cost you like 1c more and it would make customer satisfaction go up by 1000% for those unlucky strong-people.

    Just got this video and after clicking on the link I find that they are sold out of the starter kit. I then bought the one without the batteries and then found i bought the one without the BMS. So I bought the next kit with the BMS. 🤑

    Hi, about to buy the 1000watt 1020 motor to move a 300 pound gocart for the kid. In my calculation we will need a 13S20P to get 48volt and 20km of range.
    Is this make sense and is there 13S module like you show ?
