He's a genius who forgets to take the screws out. hehe. That's what I love about this gentleman, he keeps it real.
I need one. I have a 36v ebike running on lead acid. Perfect upgrade.
i bought a neat little usb module that works from 10 to 80 volts so i can use scooter packs as a portable energy bank. and i keep the module with me so if i ever need usb odds are something nearby will have the right voltage in a pinch
.
Great video, very inspiring for a newbie like me. Thanks, Jehu.
Wishing I purchased these in place of the NEC 12v7 batteries . Maybe later when they come back on line.
Thoroughly enjoy your content, keep it up! Also what is the name of the song In the end scene?
Just got mine and holy heck you guys were quick with the delivery on these :D
Still waiting, only been a few days. Looked today though and already out of stock. :)
this video inspired me to contact Gotcha Bikes to see if they would sell me broken battery packs, unfortunately two employees came to my door after giving them my info and accused me of stealing their equipment. ended up just buying a pack from you, glad you weren't sold out. crazy day man. Also bro you've been inspiring me to build batteries for some time now and i have the time and money finally to do so. Thank you!
also, turns out they didnt know how to read a map lol
There's got to be more to the story!
@@RobinDobbie ive reached out to gotcha bikes and got a reply from Megan Masters

saying "Hi Kendrick,
Thank you for providing the police report number and I have passed the information you have provided on to the appropriate individuals at Gotcha. We in the process of gathering information, can you please provide your phone number so someone from Gotcha Corporate can reach out to you?.
I gave her my info and am expecting a call today because her response to me was "Great, thank you so much for providing that information. Someone will be in touch very soon.

what if i use a pwm solar charge controller to charge these cells as i can change the top and bottom voltage for charge and discharge would that wirk safely?
Thanks for the heads up on these LGMH1 Jehu. I just got 4 from you to harvest cells from. I'm curious, would you use these in your PCB setup? I'm thinking a 7s15p x3 in parallel (x3 60a BMS) using these LGs but maybe they would be too much for these boards with a 5A surface fuse.
Could you use as is....the wxisting bms to top balance then build a new battery?
Hello, thanks for the vid. are these regular lithium or lithium Ion? thanks
One Module pack. Configure to 40P . Run a single 6 AWG wire up each terminal side. Spot weld a fuse wire from same 6 AWG Wire to each cell. Your done. Good for A55mp Conterminous legal. 60A no issues. . I configured the packs to 7S 24v. Neat , Tidy and works just fine for a Power Wall.. Two such packs your good for over 120Ah continuous No Smoke. . Nothing being stress or over ampted. Basic 7S BMS works just fine.
The same Idea works with my 6S Nissan modules too .
I have a 36v 750w ebike can you not cut the wires so I can use the inbuilt bms and battery pack as it is???
Hi i have a 36 volt adult scooter would this work just like that?
great video, anyone know where to get these lg in europe good price with >3ah ?
Thanks for some GREAT cells, but you need to show us how to remove the cells on one of the packs that have all the clear gel over the top of the BMS. That stuff is crazy.
Do you know how long it takes him to ship the batteries
These are old Uber JUMP Bike packs. These are 36v nominal packs, 42v full, 30v dead. They are close to the voltage of 2s solar panels. These cells are very energy dense. They have an internal bypass diaphragm under the (+) button. Also, be careful removing the BMS, you can easily rip the cell connectors.
I have 4 of these scooter battery packs. I’m trying to achieve a 72v battery packs for my 72v 2000w bike. Do you recommend that I try using them in series/parallel or should they be reconfigured.?
Thank you for this information.
I am starting to be scooter batteries but I have no idea how to calculate the amperage of each cell for example I have a 72v 8p 20s battery I have lgebmh11865 batteries but I don't know how to know how much amperage it would have for all those batteries how to know each amperage of each cell and multiply by all to find the amperage thanks
36V is a coomon voltage for ebike battery packs here in germany🤷🏻♂️
Hey Jehu will you soon be able to ship to canada? I really enjoy your stuff but I dont have an actual supplier of these in my area :(
Just found 200 of these for $1/each! Glad to see I didn't go wrong :)
Just got mine in, none of the BMS are cut and they had the factory aluminum housings. Unfortunaly mine had wayyy more silicone covering them so I'm working on getting them free still.
Where did u get it from battery clearance? Any tips on removing the silicone
Me too Gold$1
How did you get the battery packs to begin with?
Do you know how MG1 compares to MH1?. because the only deal I could find with delivery to Europe is an MG1 scooter pack from China. For around 10$ more I wonder if this is worth it.
I got all excited about this but no shipping to Canada! Whatup with that?
I live in Canada. Is there a way to ship some packets to me via ground of cause.
The 1s40p configuration would be the most useful for powerwall application. Then make a 7s or 14s for your 24V or 48V inverters.
I enjoyed the video.. do you have a good recommendation for a spot welder for 18650s for around the 100 to 150 dollar range?
Mitchell Bruce microwave oven transformer, 20 or 30mm2 wire, cut secondary out, new secondary from the 30mm2 wire, a relay or triac for control, and 2 solid copper wire pieces that you cut and shape as electrodes
@@legominimovieproductions do you have a link to a video showing how to do this?
@@vc9403 czcams.com/video/zmss5t0idrs/video.html it should give you the basic idea behind it, you just have to use a thick single wire for the secondary (Here in germany the wire you should use is called H07V-K with a size of 16mm2 or more, if you can use something like 25,35, or 50mm2). For further design ideas (there are designs using timed pulses to make sure all welds are similar in quality) just search youtube for "Diy spot welder"
Great channel only thing I don’t like about it is these cheap cells I’m jealous lol or any sort of cells like these are impossible to get in Australia and to send from overseas the postage just makes it uneconomical
Theres a guy down there that has a youtube channel where he built a massive 18650 power wall from cheap 18650cells. I think they where all recovered laptop cells.
The battery packs are sold out. I put off buying the parts because I was hoping to find a BMS from a seller with a better recored, waited too long.
Do have any more 18650 packs??
Wow nice. I need that one.
hi can you do make a battery pack for laptop? not to charge the laptop, it will supply the laptop for long time. hehe
wow i don't want to miss out on this deal but with everything that is going on i can't be spending on this right now.... i want them so bad tho
How could I go about using these to create a 12v 200amph battery system to use for an RV with 1500w inverter? Would it even be any good to do so?
do you have solar power
What is the weight of the scooter battery?
Will you have any more of these in stock soon?
hello, you made a mistake with your prices. 6 packages originally cost 600 and not 400.
Sometimes these salvaged 18650 batteries don't have enough of an extended positive tab to work in some devices, such as some headlamps. What might be a good workaround for this problem, other than folding up some aluminum foil to bridge the gap?
What do you mean? As in they are too flat? Pure nickel strips would be a far better option vs aluminum foil.
No... dont use aluminum foil!! All you need to do is add solder to the positive sidw. Works great for flashlights.
36v is not weird, the length 20 inches makes it almost impossible to used as is
36V isnt weird. It just depends...I can mount that into kiddies Hope up powerwheels or gokarts...36v 500-1000watt brushed motors
12-15 mph or slow..so the kiddies wont hurt them selves.
or hope up scooters from 24v to 36..to 15-20 mph...
It works because in the USA..if you keep under 20mph it's still consider

Then whatever the Fu$k DIY CHEAP projects get RETARDED EXPENSIVE

Back on the website now. Ordered me a second one. :) 80 batteries I should be able to build something awesome... Welcome to suggestions...
Hi, you mention you can use that battery without removing the BMS?.
@2:30 they cut the wires to use as salvage but I don't see why you couldn't rewire it in place may not a pretty
Can I get schema and a picture how the wires were connected - so I can reuse the cells as they are for my own project? You mentioned that you have to cut off the wires... (Is there a way to leave them on, since I'm gonna use it as is? Thanks!
No, we contractually required to cut the wires
@@jehugarcia Can I get at least a picture how it was connected, or the way you can cut the wires.... I don't have a scooter or ... I like to REUSE EVERYTHING if I can, that is the only reason. Thanks!

Anyone knows where I can buy used battery packs in Europe?
I'm still waiting to know if you can ship some of those cells to Canada.
Mee too!!!!!
I wonder if these would work for a DIY electric RC lawn mower... 🤔💭
Yes
Any cell you have on sale is discharge?
can these 40 cells be configured to 48V with a proper 48V bms for ebike use?
Yea if you take it all apart and put it back together
Love my LG 18650 3200mah
WHAT DO I DO IF I TAKE THESE APART AND IT SPARKS? I DIDN'T SEE WHERE FROM ONE BATTERY GOT WARM AND THAT WAS IT.
don't short them out nimrod.
Does the BMS work if you just hook straight up to the power leads?
Previous purple lg scooter battery pack had all good cells and BMS on board worked flawless, connected in pair for 72volts and place in bike bag. Running a month now without any problems.
@Sam S True, but what company would even know that some random dude didn't disassemble the pack fully and put it on their ebike whole? Doesn't matter to me either way, I have like 20 10s boards from way back in the hoverboard era I could swap on if not, just saves me effort.
Are the BMSs functional, or could they easily be made functional?
I’d say mostly functional, these were not taken off service due to faults but due to becoming obsolete
I need help. Ordered the packs and don’t know how to open them up. They have some weird special screws that have a star pattern but a cyclinder in the middle
Security torx, order them on Amazon
@@jehugarcia wow, thanks for replying so fast. I was really worried I wasn’t going to be able to build my battery either them. Thanks

i really wish you shipped to Canada !!!
Can I Pay you to build me a 20S10p out of these with the connector for an Onyx RCR ?
What’s fair ?
2of these 80p.30 packs and you make 15s 80p.12kwh battery
😓 we dont get good cell supplies in the u.k. we just get worn out rubbish if any at all !
36v is common for ebike all brushless motors
How much
What are these used for? If we international viewers can buy them elsewhere that _can_ ship to us, we can enjoy the same benefits
Making home batterys for one .. :) let me Know if u find a European seller
What would it take to make an 18V battery?
power tools use 5s and some call it 18v but most are calling it 20v now. With 40 cells in a pack you could do 8p5s (but since these are not new cells you might have a bad cell or two so maybe only 7p5s).
these cells are nominally 3.7v and range from about 3v to 4.2v.
18v / 3.7v = 4.86 so round up to 5 unless 5 * 4.2v = 21v is too much.
4 * 4.2v = 16.8v max
Why can't these be used with the already installed BMS? or....once the BMS is removed, why can they not remain in the "together" configuration for use in powerwalls or other projects?
Because this dude is just trying to sling batteries mann
because they are wired 10s or 10 in series, which isn't compatible with most inverters and charge controllers which are designed for typical lead acid battery voltages. 10s ranges from 30v to 42v which is too high for 24v equipment and too low for 48v equipment. Maybe you can find something designed for 36v and use them as is.
They can be used in the original configuration. I have an e-bike that uses 36V and a power tool that uses 36V.
@@Sylvan_dB Thanks for responding....I keep hoping the information will become clear, but the fog remains...I'll keep listening.
Highly recommend taking the ic's on that bms as well. Don't throw them bad boys away guys.
Yes these batteries are from a scooter but where specifically do you buy these scooter battery packs???
From the scooter company
jehugarcia bird?
Bird is a brand they just have China make them but the cells are genuine lg
Just want to point out that your snips link on jag365.com is broken.
Would these be good for an RV + Solar power bank that's going to run lights, air conditioning, fridge, & pumps?
Honestly, LiFePO4 prismatic would be a better bet for you in an RV, and it would be much easier to build if you are going for 12 or 24 volts. But, As long as you do the math and size the battery pack properly, these would be fine for an RV + solar bank. It's just a little more complicated to put together the pack These cells are capable of 10 amps maximum each, and Ideally, you don't want to run them at maximum all the time, so make the pack bigger than your maximum needs will be. I would recommend picking up 10 of these battery packs, for 400 total batteries. If you plan on doing Air conditioning, I recommend doing 36 or 48 volts for the air conditioning to keep current draw and wire size needs and cost as low as possible.
@@catch22frubert Awesome, Thanks for the explanation. I'll be buying a box truck this summer and I'm trying to plan everything out.
@@Richard-Freeman No problem. There are a bunch of different ways to get the job done. Just do your research, and the math for what you will need as far as watts/amps, and you can do any number of systems that will work. Just remember, higher voltage systems will pull less amps, and you can use smaller wire all around, so I recommend at least 24 volts. Good luck with your build.
jehugarcia: Are they really 18650 batteries? How many amps is a single batttery? Can i purchase all those from you? If so how much?

Nice 👌,
Can these cells be used for car audio?
Yes
Bought a pack, and the cells shipped to me are averaging 2,900 mAh with 25mR internal resistance using the LiitoKala Lii-500 on full NOR test. I was hoping to get results like he indicated in the video (~3400mAh). The ones shipped to me were about 85% the capacity as indicated in the video. Pretty sad since the "tested" packs were all high mAh, and the ones shipped out are not.

Prismatic lifepo4 is the way to go.
Completely depends on what you are trying to do. Prismatic LiFePO4 doesn't work well if you are building an ebike battery or something where size really matters. You can get a lot more energy in a small space with these or 21700 cells. I really want to build something with Samsung 40T's.
@@catch22frubert hardly size matters for powerwalls.
People who use these cells need to be aware all lithium batteries require charge balancing. Otherwise, a lithium fire can start which you CANNOT extinguish. A 2,000F lithium battery fire creates its own oxygen if the cathode is overheated, which is caused by dendritic growth shorts. This defeats most all fire extinguishing methods. Under-discharging lithium cells can also start a fire. This is why the battery pack has a charge balancing circuit board. Only use these cells in a device that already has a charge balancing system for each cell.
