  • Joel at Earth Tools yaks awhile, then finally gets down to business mowing a tangle of old cornstalks and cowpea vines. NOTE: During directional changes of the tractor, it LOOKS like Joel is just "speed shifting"...but if you look carefully, he IS using squeezing the clutch lever each time he reverses direction. At that low speed (1st gear), the clutch only needs to be squeezed for a split-second when using the forward-reverse shuttle-shift, but the clutch definitely has to be used for any shifting operation, or gear damage will result. Video shot in the little "test" garden outside Earth Tools in November 2014.

      I need one for doing my 4 ace farms,so could you recommend which model best to do it: cleaning weeds between spaces of rows and width shouldn't be more than 26" but good hp

      @@joeldufour6202 With the bigger 33 inch Berta flail it can get difficult to turn even with the brakes, especially in very thick vegetation where the machine ends up running in a channel of its own making. In that situation it can also be difficult to back up because the belt cover on the right sticks out further than the one on the left and tends to get hooked up on uncut material on that side. It's still a very impressive machine.

    Great video Joel! I purchased a 26" Berta from you last month. It is working great and I love it.
    Jared, it can take out saplings no problem, you would be amazed at what it can do.

    I would like to know how the flail mower performs against green corn stalks immediately after harvest. Haven't seen any videos on the internet.

    Hey Joel does it matter whether the tractor is BCS 732 11hp or 9 go to operate the 26 inch flail or even the beer single rotary plough?

      @joeldufour6202 Před 5 měsíci +1

      You can always add counter-balance weights to counter-balance a heavy implement; this reduces the effort needed to maneuver the machine.
