    I have the 853. I love it. It is my toy. I wished I bought my mine 25 years ago. I have only had it 5 now. Consider buying the box blade for cleaning corrals in tight spaces. Do not give up on it, It has a learning curve on balancing the weight.

    The BCS will change how you grow vegetables. I have a Grillo with a 30 inch tiller box and a rotary plow. Very comparable, 11 hp Yamaha. It is a very good machine. We do all our tunnel ( 4 ) growing in 30 inch beds. You will love the versatility of the two wheel tractor. I should get a flail mower for the tall stuff, and for residue. keep up the good work.

    Man, I 'm glad you guys went with a machine big enough for the jobs! The steering brakes and differential alone are worth it, plus increased engine/tire size to handle the bigger implements. It's easy to let $$ and size/weight influence the decision on size of machine. There is a learning curve and you can expect to have a bit of a wrestling match on your hands at first, but in the long run you'll be glad! One thing that I've noticed is that when running front mounted implements it helps me to run the handlebars lower since most of my adjustments are pushing down to raise the front of the implement and the opposite seems to be true for the rear mounted stuff. You'll love those offset handlebars for forming those raised beds with the rotary plow! We're running about the same setup but I'm on a Grillo 110 (about 8 yrs old). I look forward to your adventures with this machine for years to come! Did you buy yours from the two wheel tractor guru himself, Joel, at Earth Tools in Kentucky?

    They are also easier to hook up to implements, if you start out with the handle bars on the side of the pto. This way you can see what is going on, and even user your feet to help brace the implement. After it is connected, then you can rotate the handlebars.

    BEWARE THE BCS 749!!! The jury is still out on the hydraulic clutch system...it's fairly new and they had to slap a 5 year warranty on it to get that model to start selling. The bestselling 853 uses the tried and true traditional clutch system that is very easy for the end user to service if/when necessary. However, if you're near a competent BCS dealer and don't plant to service it yourself, then have at it!

    Glyophosphate (roundup) and a sprayer. Twice a year and "mowing" is done. Fence rows,around barns,gravel lots and drives: spray it and move on to next chore.Too many chores(and work) and too little time so I always look for fast and effective solutions.

    Learn how to adjust the Clutch, because as you change implements that require you to move the handle bars, the length of the cable changes from side to side which requires a Clutch adjustment. See Earthtool video on this subject.

    You should fabricate a stand on dolly behind that thing like those lawn mowers they attatch them to so it'll pull you and you don't have to walk

      Since this comment it's about a year old I believe you already got a grip on it.
      First rule of thumb turn on the engine when changing implements and let the machine do the work. Pulling or pushing it by hand it's not practical.
      Easier, faster. You don't have to fight the machine. ;-)
      Cheers

    It's nice to see you getting used to your new toy, oh I mean machine. Ha ha. But seriously, you said you got some rain, is it helping the hay fields? I know you are very dependent on a good yield. Here in Northeast Wisconsin we have had a lot of rain.

    • @tommathews3964
      @tommathews3964 Před 6 lety

      David Jenkins depends on the implement you are using. The Flail Mower has to be front mounted. Tillers, power harrows etc are rear mounted. The entire handlebar/control assembly is reversible. Fantastic tools!

    This a $6000.00 walk behind mower. It makes no sense financially. You could buy a really decent used compact tractor for that much. And it would be diesel and 4wd.

    • @OurWyomingLife
      @OurWyomingLife  Před 6 lety +1

      With all the other attachments it does. You start adding up all the attachments to have to work. Technically a John Deere tractor with a brush beater is a $70,000 lawn mower but when you think big picture it makes sense. Thanks for watching - Mike

    • @horseblinderson4747
      @horseblinderson4747 Před 4 lety

      It's a lot more than a walk behind mower. Many people get them for the sickle mower alone as it'll go under fence lines and chop down saplings.

    • @horseblinderson4747
      @horseblinderson4747 Před 4 lety

      You'd want it that way all the time so that way when you're tilling they're facing the correct way to clean out, they still give good traction whichever way you'd Mount them

    • @jasonthornberg8137
      @jasonthornberg8137 Před 6 lety

      Yes but get Boer Goats if you are really worried about weeds milk goat breeds are more picky and have less of a bitter palate than meat breeds. And Mike you are right about chasing them around we have them in a full hot wire fence and they have learned to just fly thru it as fast as they can to avoid getting zapped so when they do get the zap it is on their tail after their body is thru so we have to put them back in their fence for them to do it again a few days later. And boy can our fencer zap (Personal experience).

      I am admittedly a Crazy Goat Lady in training, but they can be a real pain in the butt -- I don't think you need the extra stress, Mike!
      Goat Man, I just got a couple of Boer/Kiko crosses, and they will eat the bitter mustard weeds that my Pygmies ignore. So your info re: meat breeds' tastes are spot-on, as far as I'm concerned.

      Jeanette Waverly Nice, before we had our milk goats we had had pure and high percentage Boer Goats that were on the larger end of the spectrum for size along with being very stocky. I hope all goes well with your goats.
