    One way you might improve your laying of flat material is first cut to fit. Next is to add weight to one side so as to keep material in place. Then you peel back half of the material and spread adhesive with a trowel on the exposed base for a nice, even layer of adhesive. Allow a few minutes for the adhesive to tack up but not so long where the adhesive dries. Now is when you roll the peeled back material down in a smooth and even motion. Wait for a few more minutes, transfer weight over to the secured side of the material, peel back the other half and repeat the procedure on the newly exposed half. This should help with laying sheets of material without air bubbles. Another item that might help would be a broomstick. Apply gentle downward pressure on the stick with one hand, hold the end of the material off the surface and sweep the stick along, chasing the hand holding the material away from the glue. If you do end up with air bubbles, use a tiny sewing needle and pop it. If the needle hole ends up being very noticeable, you might be able to disguise it along a seam or grout line, covering it with a cart, a haystack or a pale. You could always have a plant growing out of it (common weed, flower, whatever) or incorporate the hole into your design by the addition of spider webbing or raised dirt around it like a gopher hole.

    I watched this video more times than I want to admit now. I keep going back to see how you did things :b It's really a great tutorial for how to plan your build and a great show of techniques!
    I have a quick question though, regarding the PVA mixture you apply nearly everywhere (at 13.14). You say you use some kind of "paint texture" with the thinned down PVA ? Would you care to elaborate a bit on this subject regarding the "paint texture"? I really want to copy your "gravel" effect on the roads :D

    • @Lybbansminiatures
      @Lybbansminiatures  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello there. Thanks for watching. Glad to help inspire! The paint texture is a coarse grainy sand like powder that ypu apply to wall paint to make it texurized. Its sold in tubs at my local diy shop. I guess sand would be just fine for this too. Just mix glue, water and sand/texture to a nice paste and go nuts.

    Awesome work man, superpsyched to do the same.

    • @Lybbansminiatures
      @Lybbansminiatures  Před 3 lety

      Thanks!!! My advice is to take your time and plan your build thoroughly before starting the actual building process. Check out other videos, instagram, pinterest and google for loads of reference pics. Check out kens creative madness on facebook and kolti on instagram. They are terrain gods. You dont need a 3D-printer do do this, carving stuff from blue foam is very easy and a lot cheaper. Takes more time though. Thw thing i would have done differently is probably to tint the resin more and add more gunk to the water. It came out a little flat. Otherwise i am very happy with the build and it turned out almost exactly like i planned. Next board will probably be totally scratch built with no 3D-printers involved just for the challenge.
