You should try video game terrains

hey, what mask do you use when casting resin
This is amazing. Excellent work!
Thanks Jon!!
Itâs good to see townsends here
Holy Moly, Jon plays tabletop games?
All of my hobbies are starting to overlap. What even is going on
This is about as wild as the time AVE showed up in Matt Colville's comment section.
Shovelling in flip flops with......socks? Saskatchewan confirmed.
Epic build as usual!
Came to the comments to say the same thing
I do that in Georgia(US), in December.
lol Knew I'd be getting a comment from someone on those socks. Can always count on you Jeremy. Haha
@@JGMoore thatâs because Georgia has wimpy winters đ (Iâm from Michigan)
Sock are why you have feet, awesome build by the way.
Wife walks out of the house. 2 minutes later your hobby takes over the whole kitchen and half the living room. Relatable.
Man you sound like someone I know named Floyd lol
This looks like you've gone outside and taken a small cutout of the actual world, then glued it to a table. Absoultely love it. I would love to try my hand at something of this size--maybe I don't need a kitchen table.
Hey guys, ignore the last min of black screen. Accidentally got that in there. Trimmed it off in the yt editor but takes a while to process.
Advert padding.. đ
Awsome... But am i the only one to think you play in the direction of the width and not the length... wich cause the rivers to be at weird spots.
The good side of a lockdown is having more time to discover new things, such as dioramas and terrain builders. I've watched all your videos so far and i'm both amazed and inspired by each and every one of your builds.
As a question (and possible challenge?...) I'd like to ask you if it's possible to make a "floating" island, Avatar style. Maybe use the waterfalls as support for the structure, i don't know, just wanted to put the idea out there.
Looking forward to the next build!
This zooming out and turning camera while timelapsing is impressive tech! :O
The table is just bonkers!!
Yeah, what an awesome visual effect! So satisfying to watch.
My Dad came in as I was watching this and said that we should do our battles on it, amazing work mate, love your terrain videos
Haha, nice. Thanks man đ
Thank you for the great tips! I LOVE IT
Didn't expect to see you here!
So glad your getting into middle earth strategy battle game, such an underrated but amazing game!!!
Preach
Indeed!
i want to get into it but cant find a copy anywhere
@@MadManMatrix try scribd, they have a one month free trial and you can download a bunch of documents for free.
@@MadManMatrix all the books are on games workshops site for order. Games Workshop is quite restrictive of online copies, so there isn't many places you can find them for free unfortunately.
I always wish we could see some quick clips or even photos of games being played on these boards - would be lovely + nice to appreciate the scale, and even get a review - or friends' reactions to seeing the board
Neil! You outdid yourself. With the board but also (and especially) with your video production. Absolutely loved seeing the new techniques you were trying out. Especially the gliding time lapses. Amazing!
Your so far the best terrain builder I've seen and found in my two years in mini painting.
Just stunning and thank you for sharing your skills with us.
The production quality on the video is insane; the camera pan at 5:31 was genuinely beautiful. Incredibly well done!
Imagine the dnd campaigns you can have in his workshop. Magnificent! Truly inspiring!
Awesome Neil. I had my fingers crossed when you tipped the board for the resin.... I love to see your method for measuring the Envirotex is the same as mine :)
Lovely; that's a truism.
Thank you so very much for breaking down your process and sharing it with us! This is something that I will be referring back to for a long time, to be sure.
Additionally, the lighting in your videos is just grand!
Love that you made this modular instead of just one big board. Great walkthrough of everything you did as well. Looks amazing as usual!
Wow! Just wow! This looks amazing. Every aspect of the terrain is just fantastic. That river is so lifelike as well. Excellent work! đ
Epic build! The dowel idea is fantastic ! Would love to see a video just about your video making process... setting up shots; video editing, camera rigs. I think a lot of people might find that interesting!
this is truly amazing, and the best part is, you can use this for whatever, you could use this for medieval, civil war, tank battles, literally almost anything, well done!
What an epic build - really impressed about how much information you packed into that video. Would love to build something at this scale one day!
man, it's always a joy watching you work on your projects. You really seem like a great, down to earth guy with a real passion for his hobby. It's just relaxing to watch your projects unfold. And on top of that, it always motivates me to do some work myself :)
Thanks a lot man. Appreciate the kind words. Glad you enjoy the vids and really cool to hear it motivates you as well with your work. :)
Dude, Everything you build is just amazing. I am blown away... yet again!
Fantastic Neil. I used to play the 1st Ed of WH40K, I loved how campy it was. I dreamed of having a table like this!
Superb project and build. Congrats on the giant board, Neil.
Glad to see you back at it. Wonderful board.
Splendid ! Imagine making a table with this kind of terrain integrated in it ? Like a table with glass on top and inside you'd have an epic diorama ? That'd be super cool
Would love to see you do a shire board or diorama from LOTR
Ooh! Bag end, with the hill that comes off to show the interior! - - - While I'm dreaming...
That crazy son of a bitch, he's actually doing it!
@@vampyrjack just finding the channel and that's the next one I'm watching.
What an epic build :) loved it, loved the whole way you put this video together ... that idea with the resin is AMAZING; both the white water, and then timing the tip to get ripples... genius!
And thanks for the shout out :) you really are the man, and any time you want a game of SBG just give me a shout; come visit Bulgaria and we can get some games in ;)
yo some of these camera shots are some next level shit. Love how you keep upping the video content and quality with each upload.
Amazing work. Plan on getting involved with making much MUCH smaller scale dioramas but watching your work will no doubt help
wow.. love this board. ages since i played wargaming but.. on a board like that it is really worth it. Would love to see this board used how you described it too.
Looks amazing! I made a one by one meter Osgiliath board with a resin river 7 years ago in ninth grade. This gave me so many ideas to how I couldve done it better.
Very nice!
Back in the early 1990's a fellow in our group had a 9x5 foot table like that, sans cliffside, we would wargame Renaissance, English Civil War, Thirty Years War, and Ancients on 3 - 4 times a week. Nothing like seeing hundreds of beautifully painted miniatures on nice terrain!
Awesome idea to tip the resin while it's still drying. It successfully simulated the flow of water better and quicker than you could do by hand and it looked great!
As said elsewhere, the camera changing positions during the time lapse was a neat effect too! I would happily watch longer time lapse clips!
Hey thanks for the feedback on the time lapse! Iâll definitely keep the suggestion in mind for the future. And yeah, I was pleasantly surprised with how well the resin trick ended up working.
wow, I'm speechless, every time I see your video you make a work of art. You are an example to follow. Congratulations you have excited me once again!
What a beautiful table! I love your music too.
Stunning dude!!! Iâve been wanting you to build a nice realistic wargaming board for a long time :) awesome awesome stuff man
Thanks man!!đ
Amazing as usual you keep inspiring and help growing the tabletop community.
Wow! Beautiful and epic as always. Getting into Middle Earth SBG seems like a good opportunity to please the Dark Lord with something less lush than usual: evil terrain! Ruins of Dol Goldur perhaps? Thanks for another great tutorial.
This is a great build! I do like the water effect, a very natural flow. Timing is everything to achieve this I guess
Doing boards like this have really brought me into a love of carpentry. Also, most of my family are carpenters or have been carpenters, so it's nice to use my family taught skills to further my craft and further my hobby.
I imagine a group of teens playing d&d in this diorama, don't know about you, but I would love
This is incredible, Amazing bro
Socks in flip flops, I knew I wasn't the only one!
I am going to try your insulation foam and plaster of Paris for my next project, thank you!
Absolutely amazing work!
So jealous, you are truly skilled. Amazing!!
Awesome work, I'm recently back into middle earth wargame and your videos are very instructive and inspiring to build my terrains
I rewatched this to find out the insulation you used. Now I can make my terrain and dioramas on a budget. Thanks you!
What a FANTASTIC build! so awesome!
that would be an amazing board to play on. I am just getting into the Middle Earth game myself. Looking forward to seeing some terrain to give me ideas. i eventually want to make a huge Helms Deep board. keep up the good work man!
Nice, a Helms Deep build would be so cool. Thanks!!
It goes without saying how amazing this build/video is. Have to admit it reminded me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, (love that movie) when Roy goes nuts and builds the huge mountain in his home.
Outstanding and inspiring work as always đđ»
"This MEANS something!" đ
Evan Hughes.
Now I have to watch it again.
âTOBY YOU ARE CLOSE TO DEATHâ
Saw the movie about 1978. Totally agree with that comment. I knew it reminded me of something!
Really cool you did this for Wargames Atlantic. They're one of my favorite companies out there right now.
Excellent job! Congratulations
Holy hell, that is impressive!
Just wow, Epic! Great work, well done!
This is amazing!! Well done!
Bro, I am right there with you. The number 1 thing that brought me into tabletop wargaming was my love for modeling. You got some great content, thanks for putting in the work.
Haha, thatâs awesome. Thanks for sharing that and thanks for the compliment on the contentđ
Love this idea of having the boards interchangable! Difficult and impressive build!
Turning the board so the resin pooled a bit was a great idea ... very realistic to have 'waves' in water with whitewater instead of smooth. Awesome job!!
Just subbed after you said you're getting into middle earth sbg. Thats my favorite game
Hearing your announcement of taking up MESBG gave me a flurry of excitement. I can't wait to see some of the terrain and scenery you create for that! I always thought the Tabletop World buildings looked like they could have represented Bree or an old Arnor town.
This is so good. Thank you for doing this. Great video.
Fantastic work and production quality. This looks like a perfect LOTR board.
beautiful board, picked up some great tips for making mine. Cheers
that was such a great build! love your channel man!
Amazing work! You are a little artist.
Awesome to see you being sponsored! Great stuff man!
I wish this channel wwould come back. Wherever you are Neil, I hope you are good,
I learned so much just watching this one video! Epic!! Thanks for making such a detailed video :)
Great work as always!
Inspired and gorgeous work!
After almost 8 years lurking in this hobby, I just recently got my first minis. I basically covered my fingers covered in plastic glue, my paint job looks awful, and I have no one to play against. But none of the matters to me. Because stuff like this comes out of this hobby, and I hope to one day get here.
Hang in there. I've been in the hobby for years and still make a mess out of my projects quite often.
What Chris said. Good on ya man for learning at your own pace and enjoying the process. One of my favorite quotes: "The only person we should try to be better than is the one we were the day before." In general, this is the best way to approach life. OK sure competitive sports is another thing, but for our day to day the above rule is the way to live and get the most satisfaction out of the things we apply ourselves to. Be proud of how far you've come from when you fist started. :)
@@RealTerrainHobbies totally agree, been model making form the Airfix plastic bag days, and still as things developed there is always something to learn, and yes my harshest critic is me so that is the only person I have to satisfy, keep at it and enjoy what you do, its a hobby for life.
@@CrusaderSports250 You cannot beat the hobby, I started with Airfix in the UK at about 5 years old. Bought all the yearly catalogues and just wish I could have afforded all the kits at that time when visiting the local model shop every week. Branched out into collecting diecast aircraft, tanks etc and metal figures in virtually every scale I now have the finances but not the time unfortunately, although I don't think my credit card company is complaining. Just need a bigger house and some decent display cases etc!
One of the best ones yet. Spectacular stuff. Thanks for the content.
UNREAL. You are truly a terrain master!
Wow, another great build! Excited to hear you are considering MIddle earth SBG. You should do a Mordor or Rohan table!
I would definitely be down for that at some point. :)
Looks incredible!
That board is absolutely fantastic! I would absolutely love to play on a table with that level of realism.
Your creations are simply amazing, Neal.
Thanks Emily! :)
This is a fantastic wargaming board! Just awesome.
Amazing job. Well done đ
Great, absolutely great work. Really appreciate adding so nice, fitting music! Almost I want to invade some nice village with my Orcs! :D
Oof. This is really making me want to properly sit down and plan out a Fords of Isen board . Content is amazing as always and a fantastic resource so thanks for sharing!
Wow amazing... Very very looks like real... Great work friend....
Looks cool man. Nice job.
WOW!! just WOW!!! Amazing job!
I Love this idea Neal, I am going to be making me a portable HO scale train Table and DAMN BAM you do this, AWESOME BUDDY! Thanks SO much for the timing! This is a Perfect IDEA for my build!! THANKS! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
This is so f...ing amazing. Wish i had the skills, money and space to make such a project.
I have never seen a board so elaborate. I am so impressed. 4 x 8 ft is kinda the perfect size since it's the size of lumber sheets and foam board insulation. Can't wait to see something more mountainous or a cyberpunk motropolis.
Looks so beautiful
Dude thats freaking beautiful, I would love to have something like this.
This is amazing! Your video has inspired me to try my hand at this, I bought myself a foam cutter like you use on amazon, and I am collecting scrap styrofoam at work. Gonna try to make something using as much recycled material as I can to cut cost, and be eco-friendly!
love the Goobertown Hobbies mug in the background!
Super badass, looks so different with out all those structures all over it
That is really impressive. It looks gorgerous. Really well done!
excellent and awesome work man
This is awesome! you are a true artist! great work!
I have a (suppressed) creative side just waiting for my lazy, procrastinating side to take a break and burst out from my seams. I have been searching CZcams for the past few days for the right inspiration to trigger my creativity and making things with paper mache clay was almost doing it for me, but just wasn't quite doing it. Then I seen the giant miniature of a nature landscape. While I could never commit to a project that large, you've still inspired me to try to make nature- based miniature landscapes. I love your detail and this video has given me some great ideas. Yer awesome!
