- First time in the bike park with my GoPro Hero5 Black. I tested the wind noise and how the built in digital video stabilization works. I also wanted to ride most of the tracks and features of the Bikepark Leogang which is located in the Austrian Alps.

Mount:
When I'm riding downhill I'll wear a neck brace. I've mounted the GoPro there. Thus the image is quite stable. I have an older Leatt Brace. They look like this:

This is perhaps the best GoPro Downhill vid I have seen in a while! The raw audio (w/o music), great lighting, and stabilized picture made for a video that just amps you up to go riding! The greenery and hero dirt looked soo glorious too.

I have been waiting for higher than 1080P 60FPS GoPro footage for so long, and it looks magnificent. I can't wait for the Hero6 Black to play 4K 60.
***** It wouldn't make any sense to not do it by the time the next flagship camera of theirs is released. If they release it in early 2018 (which is about the right time frame between their camera releases of 14-18 months) and it doesn't have 4K 60P then they wouldn't have something that would finally be taking the market. 4K is barely starting to take the market now, but in early 2018 you can bet that it will have all but fully infiltrated every type of high end device with 4K 60 FPS HDMI 2.0. It's the next logical step, and by then it really shouldn't even be a challenge to support it.

Is it just me or does most of the footage look somewhat tilted to the left, like not perfectly flat picture? The camera fills beautifully and the digital stabilization works pretty good even though I thought without it, the footage still looked really good.
First, I've mounted it on my neck brace - such it is quite stable. But the neck brace does not perfectly fit with my back protector. So it is always a bit out of center. Second, the GoPro uses a fisheye lense. This yields to some distortion in the image. But it's the only way that you get that much on the image even if you are so close. And it has the side effect that the video looks faster. In general everything looks slower and less step on video. But with the fisheye at least the feeling of the speed is somehow compensated. The GoPro has differenc FOV (field of view) options. Commonly used in POV-videos is "Wide". But here are also options where the GoPro tries to compensate the fisheye effect.

It's already quite old: It's a Santa Cruz V10 from 2012.
That's surprisingly stable image! I think it's a perfect match for downhill riding.
Wow!.....I came here looking for reviews on action cameras....totally forgot about that and was spellbound to watch the whole video, mesmerized at the quick thinking one has to make in what looks like a sport I would have love to have done some 30 years ago....my reflexes today would have me over the handlebars in a heartbeat.

Thanks...watched the video that you can never be too old to mountain biking, great stuff. Me (56) have just started powered paragliding....hence the interest in action cameras....maybe when the weather is not good to fly, I can jump on the bike....Cheers.

Some obstacles here are surely dangerous. But usually most of the bike parks or bike regions have tracks for beginners too. And you can rent bikes. The even offer coaching/guiding.

Video stabilization?
Parts of the video is stabilized with the electronic stabilization of the GoPro Hero5. Back then I had some annotations in the video with information about the settings but CZcams removed them later.
