Sadly beautiful - true. We are so busy remember the past we don't look towards the future and our lives having even better days... it's possible.. Stay strong!
I haven't heard this score in years and it affects me the same way now as it did back then. What an incredible, amazing, emotional score that evokes love, passion, loss and sadness. I am a musician and this score subconsciously influences me whenever I sit down to play my keyboard. Seeing the impact this score had on all of you who left comments, amazes me. I never realized anyone appreciated this score as much as I did and do now. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts....it is very touching to see how many people were affected and moved by this rhapsody.
Who do you have to beg to get a proper score on I tunes we can buy? When I was a kid this played at the theater where I worked as an usher for a good four weeks. When I knew The Newman stuff was about to play, I'd sneak behind the screen and stand next to the speakers, close my eyes and listen. Fall of 87. A wonderful year, as I recall.
I can hardly BELIEVE that there's a well-produced 4-Real Non-Bootleg Version of this Score FINALLY available and that it's ONLY taken nearly 33 Years for us to get it. I had given-up on us ever getting it and now that it's here I'm still moved to tears by it! lalalandrecords.com/Site/LessThanZero.html
Never understood why this film was trashed by a lot of the critics and audiences. I was always moved, touched and emtionally drained from this film. I mean that in every possible good way. I felt like I was right there with these people suffering along with them. Not a lot of movies make me feel that way.
Many complain about the superficiality of the production. Apparently, they're too stupid to see that this was part of the point. Roger Ebert gave it 4 Stars, however, and I consider it a truly great film.
This movie is a loose retelling of the Adam and Eve story. Julian is their son. Rip, the dealer, is akin to Cain, who is trying to kill Julian. Drugs are the forbidden fruit, the apple. I know this might a stretch, but there is something very timeless about this film. Love is the message; people will go to great lengths to save something that they love. This is a tragic and under-rated masterpiece of the 20th century. The score is amazing and the cinematography and lightning is a thing of wonder. Watch this in HD with good speakers and prepare to be really moved. Try to watch it all the way through without interruption. The depth and sorrow is almost too much to bear.
i always fall back to this movie... it's beautiful about friends and how we are with each other ... the pain the love the hurt the happiness.. i dont keep friends much anymore the older i get but i miss having someone around who cares and laughs with me.. feeling alone is definitely something clear in Less Than Zero. I love this movie sadly. :/ God, I really like this whole cast but Andrew really floors me ... his expressions make me smile and when he gets burned .. fk .. his reactions are precious .. i love it Thank you Andrew
Absolutely love this. This score evokes personal memories from decades ago mixed with memories of a favorite film that captured the essence of a time, blurring reality. Transfixed whenever I hear it.
OMG, I accidentally stumbled across these tracks. I was absolutely in love with them after watching the movie multiple times back in the 80s. I bought the soundtrack back then but of course it was only the "songs" that featured, not the music score. Thank you thank you thank you for making these available. Some the most moving and heartwrenching pieces I know. I am so excited and grateful to have them to to enjoy and cherish and remember once again.
Loved this movie ,the music , the time period it was the best time to grow up and Jamie gertz was and still is one of the most beautiful woman to evaluate walk this earth🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I ran into Jamie at a bookstore and mistook her for a nurse I worked with. It was ten years after this movie came out. I made a fool out of myself approaching her, thought we had worked together. Her grin got wider until I realized who she was, she tried to keep from laughing, and gave me a big hug. She was beautiful, sweet, kind and charming. She thought I was just another star struck 🤩 fan. I was and still am, a wonderful actress, and still gorgeous
My soulmate lives on the other side of the world...this song captures the exact feelings I get every single time I see him after a long period of separation.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite part of ALL the music in this movie, and of EVERY part of the Thomas Newman score. There are semi-subtle differences in the score. This makes me cry. This music hits me deep inside my soul. This music feels like it's part of me, it’s amazing. I get a similar feeling from the intense, music from Romeo and Juliet, “The Dance of the knights" by Prokofiev. I believe it is called the, "The Swan Theme" from Tchaikovsky. This music needs to be professionally released so it can be purchased on ITunes, a CD or something. This is such haunting, deep music.
what an incredible score to a great albeit sad movie. Also to Angie W from SW florida who now lives in the state of Washington, the first half of this piece reminds me of you. I know Ill never see you again, but ill never forget our trip to the keys and I will always have a corner of my heart reserved for you.
Does it look like I'm ready for homework? Memorable line for me. I often use it when someone suggests that I do something that is totally outside my comfort zone or capability. Of course it makes no sense to them.
Gave a copy of the complete score to Ellis in '05 on a clone of a CD-R sent to me from a guy in Japan, but initially ordered from a woman in Israel - He himself said even he had never had access to the recordings, and was very graciously grateful.
That' so effen cool J. good on ya mate!!LaLaLand records still has it in print 4 everyone!!I must say the song soundtrax has not left my tape deck in a dog's age!!More than Ordinary People or Cuckoo's Nest this film haunts me because,it's true!!Have you heard Bret Easton Eliss's podcast on POdcastOne!!Chex it out!The one with Paul Shrader was Bucking Frilliant!!:)
This tune so suited the scenes it was put to plus the GORGEOUS JAMIE GERTZ♥️🔥 I WAS 16 WHEN THIS COME OUT, WATCHED THIS ENDLESSLY. , SOME OF THE BEST TIMES I I EVER HAD BACK THEN WHEN EVERYTHING WAS COOL ✌️😎💚
I watched many movies and when I say many I really mean it but no other movie affected me in the same way as this one. I will never watch it again because is kinda depressing for me but I will never forget it what I once watched
I walked in the room. He stood there. Time stopped. Everyone stopped. I was built and powerful. He handsome and so so beautiful. There never was one, will never be one. Time stopped and the light danced around us one more time. His art was on the wall. I bought some. The men in the room looked scared, the women envious. All aroused as we made love watching each other. He trembled with excitement. I know. I saw him shake like my little fella did. I asked him if he was happy. Of course he said yes. I believed him to be kind. I never saw him again. I see him in the papers and his art. I moved to a new city. To get away from the memory of the disaster of my life. I had to start over with someone new and a new city. When I left the gallery. Latter a women friend of his told me he watched me. As did everyone else. I will never see him again. He is happy, has a great guy and I know why he left me. Love is not enough. I was too much. A disaster. I rather be alone now. I would like to colonize mars. Start over in a new land.
I hear you: reminds me of a great gal I took a trip to the keys with . She moved across the continent ( after she tells me she loves me, and always has) Ill never see her again but this score is perfect for her memory; So I totally get what you are saying. Id like to colonize mars as well, but for perhaps a different reason lol
I can't find it anywhere. However just copy the link of this video and convert it to an MP3 so you can at least have it in your music library/ MP3 player. This is the website I use. www.youtube-mp3.org/

I miss her and what we had.

What an incredible statement. If only we could learn this lesson early in life.

It really is a great movie and it gets trashed sometimes. I love it so much.
Thomas Newman is a genius composer ❤️
The photography of the film is astonishing...Love Jami Gertz role...she is incredible in her acting...

Thomas Newman really is a genius, this is one of my favourite soundtracks of all time and I have quite a few let me tell you.
agreed. I have heard most every classical piece. I think in the future this will be considered a masterpiece of the 20th century.
