- I have had my small creative business for about 2 years now and until recently I worked from my small city apartment in my living room. I’m very fortunate to now have my own craft room in a more quiet and green area of Vienna and I’m excited to share my journey with you!

Great you have your own craftroom now. The company who moved you will be insured and it is their responsibility to have anything they broke repaired or replaced. Your own contents insurance company will work that out with them once you put a claim in.

So sorry your beautiful storage unit was damaged. You should contact the moving company as they should have insurance to cover either repair or new. 🙁

Barbara, you are amazing. So calm about the damaged shelf. I know how much they cost so the movers have insurance to take care of those kinds of things. I absolutely LOVE your room. The view, the lighting, the shape, the ease of access to lots of walls for storage like your bookshelf. I know you are in heaven right now with this new and larger space. You deserve it dear. Love the way you store things also. Just a tip I learned about storing stencils. Use a binder with clear sleeves and you can see everything you have. Also for clear stamps, just stamp on a file folder, punch holes for a binder and you can just flip through. I learned from Ceri the Crafter if you want to see more. I love mine now. So happy for you!!! Mua....wink!

I am so happy for you to have your new craft room. When you were packing and moving, all I could think was, "Bless her heart!" It is tedious to get everything back the way you want it or in a new place. I am so sad that the movers damaged your craft closet. They should pay you for the damages that incurred. Can't wait for your next video.
I have a power strip next to my desk with the cord running across the floor with a 9x12 area rug covering the cord from the wall and entirely under my desk. It has not been a problem and I’ve had it that way for at least five years. Congratulations on your new home and craft room. 💕

Oh Barbara your one hard working girl. Too get all that back where it goes is amazing. You can buy rubber wire covers they would be good for your wires if you want to keep your desk there. I have my desk in front of a double window that gets noon and evening sun it’s great if you have the desk flat on the window wall, I don’t even have to have light on till evening. I do have blinds if I need to get the sun out of my face or keep the heat out. But I do get enough light to not have to use my lights a lot. It’s your craft room you do you. I’m so so happy for you. I sure hope the cabinet can be fixed. I would call the company and let them know what has happen. They could at lease get you money back on what they broke.
Barbara, everything you do is so artistic -- even packing up and then putting away art supplies! I love the respect you show for your 'tools.' And I too like using vintage boxes and tins for storage. Looking forward to sharing many more creative adventures in your new studio!

You don't need to justify the feeling of needing to nest for a while and adjust to your new environment. It's totally understandable. Your creative brain is already overloaded with making your home visually perfect for your own peace of mind, when that's accomplished you'll find the brain space will be freed up again for creating projects... What we don't see is that you have had a whole apartment to design, so no wonder your creativity has been occupied elsewhere!
The room is looking so lovely. The curtains are perfect and provide a soft neutral background for all the delights of the room. I totally get the need for fairy lights 🤣 it was lovely accompanying you on your walk again. Thank you for sharing xxx
Love your new craft room & I'm so sorry about the damage you need to contact the moving company so your stuff can be fixed or replaced. As for your electrical components I'd get a surge strip and mount it under the table and just have it's connection (longer cord) run to outlet where you only have one cord, then everything else is conveniently at your desk.
Dearest Barbara. I have 28 boxes of Art supplies last time I moved. I will move house again in two months. I probably have about 35 now. It is so incredible how the Un- packing process is therapeutic and fun! Take your time and enjoy every day of it. It actually takes months to get it right. I am so very happy for you!! What a beautiful space! You should frame some of your beautiful pieces of art and make a special place for them on your walls. If you have to have cables running to the middle of the room you can cover them with a mat .
In my bedroom I just put an area rug over the cords to hide them and so I don't trip on them. I love that you now have a dedicated room to create. Love&hugs
Love your new craft room. The removal people will have accidental damage insurance, to cover your possessions. So you should contact them, to get your cabinet fixed for you, or obtain a replacement unit. Can't wait to see the finished result!!
Well the lighting from that window is just as gorgeous as the view. I could never afford one of those storage units so I bought cabinets from Ikea and they work great. Also they are not as big and come with casters so they can move anywhere I want them with ease. I'm sure your in a hurry to get set up but sometimes you have to take 2 steps back to move forward. Please have them replace the damaged unit. Send them estimates of the cost to find a replacement from the same company you bought it from. Most movers carry insurance for the move. Should be a no brainer. 😊

Barbara, I'm so happy for you! This is a lovely space to create in and what a view! I hope sometime you will let us see more of the apartment. I have big windows in my craft room that look out into the forest (yes, I live in a forest). The view during the changing seasons is a never ending source of peace and inspiration for me, as I'm sure yours will be for you. My work table faces the windows, about 3 feet back from the window wall, and the cables are plugged in in front of me. I have a book shelf behind me that is about 3 feet tall and contains the items I use most often, so they're within reach. I wish you many years of happy crafting in your new space!

Ohh I am sorry they damaged your craft box. I have moved from California to Japan to Maine, back to California then Colorado and finally to Florida and have had things broken, lost and stolen. But have survived the moves so I am sure you will be ok . I really enjoy your crafting journals you do inspire me so much, you live in a beautiful country. Thank you so much for sharing.👏👏😄💝💝💝

I don't know if someone recommended this yet, but for your cords, they have a thing to put over cords that have to be in the middle of the floor. You can totally do that and walk on it and not be tripping.
When I have to have cables across the floor, I use a powerboard on the desk and a rug over the cable from the wall socket. Love this room!
Definitely contact your moving company and put in a claim of enough money for you to buy a new “scrap box”. Maybe even contact “scrap box” and explain what happened because you are certainly a happy customer and you reach thousands of potential customers for them.

Barbara, it's fabulous that you got a whole craft room! I love your organization. Your garden is gorgeous. I'm so sad they broke your craft box. Their insurance should have to replace that section. Can't wait to see the room complete. Maybe you could put the rolling cart over the cables to prevent tripping but it would still be easily movable and give you complete access around the desk.🤗🥰

@@49dragonflies You could still push or pull it either way so you could get around the desk, but it would remind you not to trip on your cables. But I'm older and forgetful and can just picture myself tripping and slinging armfuls of stuff across the room. They do make cable covers that adhere cords to the floor, but I'd manage to trip on that too.🤣 Maybe you can just have a nice brass electrical outlet installed near the desk.

Office supply stores usually sell cable runners which go across the floor to hide the cables and so you don't trip over them.
Or ... The short end of the table could be moved closer to the window where the electric outlets are.
The drawer where you put tags is exactly the same as one in my treadle sewing machine cabinet. There are 2 of them on both sides.

I’m so excited for you!! My suggestion to solve your cable problem would be to get a power strip of something that you could plug in at the wall and mount to your desk. Then you can use that row of outlets at your desk to plug everything in. To avoid tripping over the cord that runs from the wall you can purchase a “floor cable cover” online or at office sites, or go a more inexpensive route and just tape it to the floor (just be cautious not to use tape that could hurt your beautiful flooring…painters tape could work!). Barbara: great room. My white parson work table is in the middle of my craft room. I just walk over the cords. I don’t allow anyone in my studio anyway, so it doesn’t make a difference. My studio is a sacred place. Just for me. However, I don’t do videos either.
I unplug everything before I leave to save on the energy bill.

Hi barbara. To hide the cables there is one thing name "cable shield cord cover" . If you search "wood" too, you can find one with a print that matches your floor.

I’ve gotten farther in your video…..table in center of room perfect for “sit & swivel” to reach things!!!
Thoughts/Ideas: hardware stores in USA have rubber strip you can get to go over cords on floor to prevent tripping. Amazon probably carries. Also, Could mount power strip under table to plug in everything instead of in way on floor.

It's so enjoyable watching your creative process... whatever you're doing, Barbara! We have had to move out of our house and are staying in a temporary house in the neighborhood while our home is being repaired. I was only able to bring a fraction of my craft stuff. We had movers to pack (thank God!). My craft room was 270 boxes!! I know... I have a lot of stuff... I'm sure unpacking will be an adventure!
You can run new wiring in the Chandilier to have drop down lighting as well as outlets for your computer and other items. You'd have to do away with the Chandalier but it would be so worth it! Congrats on your very special craft space and I hope the movers do the right thing for you.

I agree with other people commenting that you should file a claim with the movers for the damaged craft closet. I had something similar happen to me and the moving company had a person who specializes in the repair i needed. The repairman did an almost perfect job. If nothing else, its worth a try. What a wonderful crafting area! May I please be jealous? 😊😊🥰🥰
That's terrible about your Dream Box. I just recently moved after living in the same house for 38 years. I too had to box up my entire craft area. I have a Hobby Box which is the smaller version of the Dream Box. The movers called it The Beast because it weighed 400 lbs and they carried it by hand. It made it to the new house with no damage thankfully. I haven't had time to unpack or set up my new craft area as I have been unpacking everything else. Almost there. Just happy to be in our new home. Congratulations on getting your own craft room. You deserve it. I really enjoy your channel.

In my art room, I have an art line. I took a heavy twine and strung it along one of the walls. I clip on favorite pieces I have received in happy mail with a small clothes pin. I can change it out as I want. Love your space!!!!

3 years ago I got my own room too from a tiny room. BUT now lol I’m re- organizing 🤦🏼♀️ and find I have way too much. Too overwhelming 😀 but I’m so blessed to have it ♥️ again congrats 😘

I love your new craft room! The view out of the window is world class. And the table in the middle is genius. I hope you can keep it that way. Perhaps run your cords under a rug with deep pile, so that they would be safe and protected and not a trip hazard. I know you'll come up with a wonderful solution. These things take time...
My heart sunk when I saw the damage to your craft center. I am so sorry this happened. I am sure it was an accident, but heart breaking all the same. I did struggle with the cord situation at one time. I am a rather handy person, so I built a faux floor which was 2x4's, trim boards and wood flooring. It covered all but 4" of cord which I covered with carpet tape. Extreme, I know, but it worked for me. I called it my floating floor. Look forward to Part 2. Loved watching you organize and put everything in its place. You have one of those 3-tier rolling carts. I would utilize one or two with your most used tools, rather than leaving them in your closet and having to pick them out each time. Then you only need roll said cart over to your desk (which I love in the middle of the room for when Liezl comes to visit and you both need space to craft-HA). Love the view out the window and probably the only thing I might put in front of the window is either a 2 drawer file cabinet, topped with more lovely plants, or a comfy chair. Can't wait to see part 2.

For your cords, maybe get one large surge protector with multiple plugs then you would only have to worry about 1 cord on the floor.

My desk is in the center of the room as well. I keep a rug over the wires so I can walk around my desk without tripping over them. So happy for you, Barbara. It's so satisfying when you have a place for everything and everything is in its place. It's a great craft room. Enjoy!

Greetings from New Zealand. There have been times when running a cord along the floor hasn't been practical for me too. When that happens, I run the cord up the wall and across the ceiling, with a hook above where I want it to come down, and let it hang down. Then I plug a multibox into it, so I can use multiple appliances, and attach the multibox to the side or underneath of the table or desk, to keep it out of the way and tidy. Cheers.

Congrats on the beautiful new craft room! As for the cables, you can by covers for them that are similar in color to your floor, or you can cover them with a heavy rug

So sorry that your unit was damaged. Isn’t it exciting to have an area that holds all your pretty things that make crafting happy !!! I finally got my own craft room after sharing a room with my son, then having to share a space of the garage with my hubby. My heart is so happy for you . Lots of hugs from California xx

This process is looming for me in the next couple of months, and I dread packing up all my stuff. Your video has given me some inspiration and tips. Thank you. At least I also have the prospect of a bigger craft space, rather than the tiny corner I am in right now.
PS - so sorry about your cabinet :( I get so emotional when any of my expensive craft things gets damaged...
electrical- you have a chandelier, so you can access electrical from above. have an electrician wire for extra plugs and suspend them from your ceiling!
Congratulations on your move and your lovely new craft room. From your video, it looks like you have a surge protector so that all your electronics can plug into it on your desk. So there is only one large cable that goes to the wall. I would think that a mat or area rug over it might do the trick. There would be a small bump where the mat is over the cord but that would be so much better than tripping over it! By the way, I love your work and your videos.
