    how to get rid of those

    Hello! please can I ask a question? if I am supposed to apply a thermal load on some nodes, which is the default/room temperature assumed, 25°C perhaps? And the value entered as thermal load is the temperature assigned to the node or the veriation with respect to the room temperature? thank you

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  Před 3 lety +1

      If you apply temperature to a node, it is not room temperature. It is a temperature load at that location with respect to the ambient temperature, which is 0 by default.

      @@Aeroswap alright, as I suspected, thank you very much! and could you confirm that the way to apply this thermal load is to add the option 'TEMP2 in the card Loadstep? and if so, how do i can change the default temperature to be 25°C for instance?

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  Před 3 lety +1

      To change the default temperature, you can add the control card 'UNDEFTEMP'. This will set the specified temperature value at all grid pionts in the model where temperature loads are not applied.

    Hello,
    I have some questions:
    1. How can I manage convection if I have an assemble that is meshed with Hex and tetra ? do I have to create two groups, one for slave3 (tetra) and one for slave4 (hex) ?
    2. In your model, only one part of surfaces is subjected to convection or flux load. So it means the most of your grid point have an initial state at 0°C right ? I guess that for a steady state study it doesn't have much influence but for a transient analysis isn't it better to change the default value or affect a load ? I don't know if I'm clear so I gonna explain myself with my concrete example.
    My goal is to see evolution of temperature node grid in an assemble that is placed in oven. For extern surfaces I use convection at the temperature of oven (and coefficient of forced convection). But my assemble has some free volumes inside; what should I do with them ?
    3. Does the localisation of the temperature point is important ?
    Thanks alot in advance for your help and sorry for my english, it is maybe not that good..

      Hi Geoffrey,
      Here are my comments regarding the doubts you have listed.
      1. You can have slave3 and slave4 in a single group. As long as the type is 'slave', there is no need to create separate groups.
      2. Yes, in this case the default temperature is 0 degC. However, you can use the 'UNDEFTEMP' control card to change the default temperature to a non-zero value. This can be done in steady state as well as transient analysis.
      3. Location of the temp node does not affect the. It can be located at any location on the model. The only purpose of that temp node is to link the ambient temperature to the components. Apart from that, it does not serve any specific function. Hence, the location does not matter.
      I created it near the pipe only because it is easy to do so! You may create it at any location you desire.
      I hope this answers all your questions :)

      @@Aeroswap Sure! I'll be happy to discuss it. One "silly" question since I am no expert in heat transfer modeling within the HM environment although it's never too late to start using it :) Your ambient temperature load collector is for denoting that both your parts are at an initial temp of 15 degrees Celsius? Isn't there another way to define this condition (i.e. the MAT card)? Thank you in advance for your reply.

    • @Aeroswap
      @Aeroswap  Před 3 lety +1

      Good question!
      The ambient temperature loadcollector does not set the global temperature. It is only applicable for the convection interface. By default, the solver sets global temperature to 0 (unit as per the model setup).
      If we want to change this global temperature to some other value, a control card has to be added - 'UNDEFTEMP'. This card can be used to set a global temperature value in all regions where we have not assigned a temperature manually.
      I hope this is what you wanted to know!

      Yes, multiple loads can be combined using the 'LOADADD' card. Create a new loadcollector and change its card image to LOADADD. Now in the tabular data entry, we can select multiple separate loads to combine them. Use this LOADADD loadcollector while defining the loadstep!
