For a very long time through my teens and 20's I used to feign my life to the ultra hurt of this song. I used to think "wow, that girl won't be mine and she'll be a star in someone else's sky" but deep inside, there was a well within me which new and still acknowledges, no one love story is worth this song. At least not mine. And from the crevice of this deluge, I see myself become from a child to a young man to a man of 31 and one day I will grow old but the song will remain the same. Black as ever. What a pure joy. What a pure sad feeling. #vicariouslyilivewhilethewholeworlddies

I lost my daughter when she was a baby. and when I got home I would put my headphones and listen to this song and it made me feel this song so much more. I held my dead daughter in my bitter hands and my world went spinning. I know she have a better life in heaven and this song gave me the emotion that I needed at the time to get through it. I would just sit there listening to it over and over and over crying but it gave me sooo much. just hearing the words that I felt being sung to me. thank you Pearl Jam for this Amazing song that speaks in many ways then just about a boy missing a girl. I took it as me losing my baby daughter. this was 6 years ago. and every time I hear this song it brings me back to that moment. just thought I'd share it.

Why was the actual video of this taken down? This is one of the most amazing songs and I consider Eddie's performance of this song and the absolute raw emotion he displayed to be the best live performance of all time. It's very sad it was removed. Watching it choked me up every time.
It's been 9 months since she left, but the pain is alive and well. This song...it captures the feelings perfectly. The anger and the loneliness, the anxious and crushing feeling when you imagine her being with someone else. That the plans you made together mean nothing now. Thank you, PJ...thank you, Eddie...because it makes things a bit easier knowing you've been there too. I'm going to listen to it again, even though it just ended...thanks for reading.
