I don’t always agree with James Yeager. But he made a great point in a video. He has two bolts for every rifle. A training bolt to run the miles up on. And then a bolt that he puts back in after. Couple quick test fires and you have a low mileage bolt in case it’s needed. You could do the same for your 3 gun rifle. Train with one and switch to a fresh bolt for the competition. With most companies charging more than $90 for just a bolt. Why not get the whole carrier group too for that price. Good stuff as always man.

I bought one of these BCG's from PSA around this time and the only issue I had was that the gas rings were either out of spec or they got coated along with the bolt because they were too big and would cause malfunctions every 3rd shot. A new $3 set of gas rings later and I was good to go. No issues after that, and was a dream to clean.

Bought the Nitrited BCG, put in my .300 BLK Out pistol. Took it to the range and slapped in a mag and on the last 3 rounds the bolt went into battery but the round didn't go off. What did happen was it was locked up tight and I couldn't pull back on charging handle and the trigger was stuck. It did that 3 times in a row, and I hand to bounce the stock on the table while pulling on the charging handle. When I got home I took the BCG apart and what I found was a broken extractor spring. I put a BCM heavy duty spring and washer in it. Waiting to go back out to the range and test it out.

JerrBear Tactical And they won't. Toolcraft makes a lot for OEM's. They are pretty decent. I like Microbest better. You can find Toolcraft for cheaper if you look around. Instead of buying from a OEM. Toolcraft doesn't make their own bolts. There is no cage for the bolt from the .Gov or .Mil. Just for the carrier. Microbest makes all the bcg's for Colt and replacements for the gubment. Toolcraft was awarded a 750k one off contract during the GWOT.

JerrBear Tactical I'm a fan of Microbest. But they only sell to OEM's. My favorite is Sionics the staking is impeccable. A phosphated carrier you can get for $99.00 on one of their sales. They also sell a NP3 carrier. NP3 kicks the shit out of NiB. Sionics also uses the Sprinco 5 coil extractor spring and insert. No O-ring, not needed.

I've got an SAA nickel boron enhanced bcg that's run well. I'm not a 3 gunner though can't speak to running hard but it's still strong. Yeah i ran it dry a couple times to see how it ran. It ran lol. I DO oil it up though. Doesn't need much which is nice. I wanted it to be ABLE to run dry if i had to but never run them dry outside testing.
Since I'm broke i got into higher powered airguns to shoot in between. Nothing I'd train for speed on but they're good fun and my 25cal break barrel has taken fox squirrel at 100yds with no scope standing freehand.
I think they're awesome for precision shooters, especially pcps but yeah that at least takes care of the itch when i can't hit the range. I also used a psa lower on that build. Things never hiccupped, farted or needed a huggy but again i don't run hard. Yes i ALWAYS have a full bcg in my bag ready with my AR. Agreed, even at my level.

Good deal on a nice-looking bolt carrier group, have a question and maybe a potential video test for the future you could do.you during your review of the bolt you mention the gas rings were aligned correctly( staggered) Chris bartocci of Small arms Solutions indicated that this perception was false, the gas rings do not need to be staggered. The gap in the gas rings will close when the bolt is forced into the BCG. ( now I'm going to show my willingness to get people to spend their money and not mine, sorry kotaboy) how about a video at the range shooting two or three mags with them staggered and two or three mags with them all aligned and see if there's any difference.

I know this is an old post but I see you have not received a reply and I assume your question is serious. I have a 10.5" 300 BLK with a PSA BCG and it functioned great for a long time with minimal maintenance. Translation: I do not clean it much. All of a sudden I started getting gas in my face, even with subs, to the extent that it was painful to shoot it. I was about to order a high buck Gas Buster charging handle when I ran across a You Tube video review of the Gas Buster. In the comments someone suggested checking the gas ring alignment. I checked mine and all of the gaps were aligned allowing the gas to pass through. I staggered them and the problem disappeared.

Psa is great for the money. Spikes looks better in this example tho. Look at the cuts out of the material on the psa. For 89, it's good tho.

Aren't these made or coated by Failzero? Im pretty sure they play some part in the manufacturing. Either way, both are good quality and super easy to clean. Put almost 200 rounds through mine the other day and wiped everything off with a microfiber cloth. Good as new.

I carry a spare bolt in every rifle pistol grip along with a few other bolt parts. I don't feel the need to have that many carriers around.
