I swear, between Palmetto State Armory and Primary Arms, I may have a chapter 11 filing in my future.
jaberie308 I know man!!
Haha. Already done. Primary arms knows me on first name basis
If misery loves company, I’m not far behind you guys
I’m fixing to spend $$$ on a 22lr acss scope along with the new gold line 2.5-10x griffin mil acss..... my credit card will be getting some new extra air miles 😝😝
@@joquin4618 Haha. You are effed like the rest of us. Ive been shooting a first gen ACSS 1-6x in 3gun now for 3+yrs now. good luck.
I just ordered their premium bolt with the diamond coating gold.
Closest I have seen in quality next to the BCM bolt.
Apparently as per directly from toolcrafts customer service page non black DLC finishes arent true DLC. They are applied the same way but only black has all of the duribility advantages
Spent too much on it but I can’t wait till it arrives
Nice! I've been running their nitride and nickel boron BCG's for a few years now and have had no problems whatsoever. I will no longer spend $200 plus on a BCG anymore.
True I was getting some failure to eject with my ruger switch to a nickel boron bcg I got at psa for $90 and haven’t had a hiccup since.
Jay Pena thank you.
@@davidbundesen5867 can't find anything in stock
I have both their nitride and nickel boron one. They both work flawless!
Wow the prices are so much different 2 years later
Wish I'd bought one back then 😅 costs a lot more now 😂
What did you say when you coughed? I purchased the PSA DLC BCG myself. Love it never had any issues.
Awesome 5.56 BCG. Will go really nicely in Palmetto's Premium billet receiver set. Make a pretty build.
why don't any of these companies provide the surface finish information?
Now priced at $189
I have 4 "Premium" Nic Boron BCGs from PSA. Hands down the nicest BCG I have ever felt for the money. So I can't wait to "Fondle"...."I mean handle" the new diamond coated.
That bolt looks great. Usually the carrier looks nice but the bold looks not so good that one looks realky nice
Nice
Thanks Kataboy32. Your reviews are very helpful. I have selected items based on your reviews. Keep up the good work.
Sucks that these have gone up to $189 since this video. Still, wish I saw these before I ordered my NiB BCG. Oh well, always the next build.
DLC is some good stuff. I use Amsoil Synthetic race engine oil sparingly on my internals and these work great. Again, great content Kotaboy!
I use Frank's red hot...I put that shit on everything...
Price is $163 with my states tax today.
I always enjoy your reviews sir helps me is weeding through the trash to get to the winners 👍
Hi Kotaboy,
Good review with good pics and functions explained. Keep up the good work.
Thorough and timely......the FDE are in stock and mine was just ordered. Thanks
THEY are back in STOCK ... very empresses .... usually buy the Nickel Baron .... can’t wait to try out in a few of my pistol builds 👍
The video is posted Aug 2019 and they claim they got it for $69. In January 2021 the lowest prices on Gunbroker for any BCG is at $135
I love how you take the time to show your followers what GREATNESS looks like thank you.
Thank KB!
When did they change the packaging? My last NiB bcg came in a hard cardboard tube.
😩😩😩I just looked online for the gray one and it’s at 189.99 I should’ve got into guns sooner but I was a bastard child 😂
Only 69 or 79? Man the cheapest bcg iv seen on palmetto was for 150 dollars
Daymmm less than a year ago, the psa premium was under $80... Today the same bcg is $110... Wow inflation of around 40% within 1 year is just nuts...
189 now! Lol
Wow they sure went up in price since this video was made.
I've been using a BCG from ToolCraft with DLC Coating for about 2 years. It is by far the Best of all I've used.I dont by anything else.I got mine from ArmorAlley for $119.00
My 1st ones was in my long range 6.5 Grendel..They are great BCG..
Good video KB32
Why do people not like toolcraft? I was going to swap one in on my primary rifle, with tool steel instead of carpenters (like this one)... Though it does have a PSA in it today.
Ohh, just saw my answer in the questions section of PSA site, misinterpreted what that cough was all about.
@@nameless-og So what's wrong with Toolcraft BCGs?
@@stever4651 I still think they are fine myself. What my response was all about is that it turns out tool craft is who really makes these (hence KB's cough in the video 🙂). And I do trust PSA... but some other resellers don't always do the best job assembling these, or they put random generic bolts on Tool's carrier. Both of which are not a concern in this context... First, because you should ALWAYS disassemble, clean, inspect and lube a brand new BCG yourself before throwing it in and using it, and... Second, with the special coating, it is unlikely that any reseller is mix & matching these.
@@nameless-og Thanks brother...Ya I always clean and inspect every firearm part before use....👍🇺🇸
That tool mark is probably the rest of the cut from the end mill that grooves it
189.99 in 2022......
Great VIDEO!!!!
89 jeez 2021 is a bitch 179 on sale
Nice bcg, I have been running PSA premium and the nitride bcg. They run without fail. I'm more concerned about the bolt quality than the carrier finish though.
been running the skeletonized bcg from brownells with empty buffer and adjustable gas block, venom muzzle brake. Amazingly soft shooter
And the problem with toolcraft is???
And big fuckin like bro. Glad to see another PSA fan.
Wow awesome stuff thanks for sharing this I need a bcg for a build I'm doing now so going to give palmetto a go
You should also look into ToolCraft. They make great BCGs.
Doesn't PSA do MPI testing on their premium bolts?
Yes
Why are they not marked then?
@@mpett2 I know they do it on their premium bolts but they might not on these?
@@mpett2 my "Freedom" BCG bolt was marked MPI
My phosphate premium is marked "HPT/MPI."
plus... lifetime warranty .... thanks for the vid!
I got one last month in gray. Haven't put to many rounds on it yet, hopefully that will change 🎯
PSA is a hell of a company
I bought an AIM surplus Nib bcg and its horribly stained with not that much use. Your palmetto looks great. I contacted them and they don’t warranty it because they said it was normal. Yea, normal for their POS.
Nice!
Why can't they do a all chrome bcg, it's proven, tough, extremely corrosion resistant and has a lubricity about it when hot. Also easy to clean and doesn't darken ugly like a nickel boron.
Tolerances
And it's more expensive
thats a gorgeous BCG!!
What’s the toolcraft rumor?
MrChuckwagon55 I’m curious as well.
Tool craft makes most BCG. They make PSA.
Supposedly the PSA Premium version of their BCG's are manufactured by Toolcraft. Toolcraft is a well established quality supplier of BCG's and other components to OEM's and military's world-wide
@@ReelissuesTV The rumor is that they explode, theres only one documented case of it
Dang KB you just made me 109 dollars plus shipping lighter in the pocket!!! Your a expensive guy to watch ...sheesh .... haha anyways I have Stag buffer tubes with dlc coating on them and they have been great! Very sturdy and still look new despite the abuse Ive put on em..... I’m going to grab one of these to try in grey because at 110 bucks they are a steal sir..... ty for review and God Bless
I just purchased a DLC BCG from Toolcraft (which is the OEM for PSA, so it's the exact same bolt. PSA doesn't offer their black only gray so the color was the only reason I went with the BCG direct like that. ) and although I haven't shot it I can give my first impressions. The machining seems really nice, which is good because I had heard people claim they've gotten bolts where the inner surfaces were really rough with tool marks but I didn't have that problem. The finish is very good. It's also crazy slick. Like, it felt just as slick completely dry out of the box as it was after I oiled it. Like if you were blindfolded and asked to determine if a DLC was lightly oiled or completely dry you'd be hard pressed to figure it out. I really think that in a pinch this thing would have no trouble running BONE dry.
Looks nice but Im still pissed about a garbage pile .22 upper I got from PSA they ended up doing nothing for me on. Ended up throwing the barrel and BCG away and chalked it up as a loss. Havent bought anything from them since. 😕
Why didn't you send it back to them? They're good about replacing anything that's not up to par.
@@JayP7.62 I did twice..they put two barrels in it and it accomplished nothing. Had an 8 inch spread at 15 feet in a lead sled.
@@kylebales5329 Damn!
Was the .22 upper one of their 16 inchers? Or was it one of the .22 AR pistol/SBR uppers?
@@johnniewasr5740 It was one of the short barrel uppers. I believe it was an 8 inch upper.
Won't find for that price no more 😭
I just grabbed a bolt from cbc industries full auto profile mpi and hpt tested. For $83 shipped with a charging handle you can't beat it.
I have a few products from CBC and so far I've had no issues.
How has this held up?
No mpi or hpi markings and I have palmetto state armory premium bcg that felt like sand paper compared to even my lowest budget one that has a low quality anodization.....now they gonna charge to put a diamond "like" coating they should have been putting on their bolt carriers in the first place...to me I say find another option or just save up for the real deal a bcm or aero precision etc...
DLC is it as slick or slicker then the nickel boron bcg?
Simply cleans up with just soap & water... lol
Nice! BCG 😍👍🏽👊🏽🇺🇸
Excellent ! 👍
What do you think about the POF bolt carrier group?
I know what I'm getting my wife for christmas, she has a fully fde Springfield armory saint edge with fde primary arms prism
Palmetto state armory price gouges like a bitch.
Yah no kidding… I was flabbergasted when I saw how much they were less than a year ago, I guess you can say "precovid19" and today's prices…
109? When? Where? Lol
All these bcg on palmetto are now like 140 and up to like 250 bucks smh
Very Cool BCG from PSA Kotaboy32 !!!!!!!!
I bought the Toolcraft DLC BCG. Have about 500-600 rounds through it. Put some 62 grain American Eagle and 55 grain Federal through it and didn't clean it after about 300+ rounds. Contrary to popular belief, the bolt itself was absolutely rancid. The color of the buildup on the bolt itself by the gas rings was actually teal-blue in color - I took a picture. Took a significant amount of scraping to get it all off there. Finish is starting to wear on the bolt where the locking lugs impact with the chamber, but only on the edges. The carrier exterior can indeed be wiped with a paper towel, but the rest of it isn't substantially easier to clean than a phosphate finish and I'm annoyed both at how the brass brush is leaving brass shavings on the bolt and how I can see a tiny patch of bare steel on the locking lugs. @Kotaboy32 please let us know how the PSA DLC BCG performs after 500+ rounds. Personally I feel a desire to go full chrome on my next BCG as I've heard bad things about NiB. PS the 62 grain XM855 is filthy ammo. XM193 from American Eagle is great though. Bolt itself works flawlessly. The only malfunction was after I went 2 weeks after going to the range without cleaning or lubricating it. Locked the bolt to the rear, squirted some CLP in the receiver and kept firing another 150 rounds.
Smith enterprise makes the best hard chrome bolt assembly.
Cool fancy coating from PSA! The BCG will probably not have the proper gas key screws or have them torqued or staked correctly. But hey…it looks cool!🤷🏻♂️
Any update on how the finish is holding up? Now the price for one of those is close to a radian enhanced one, but since radian is not available anywhere I'm kinda tempted. Also, how much does it weight? Thank yooouuu!!!
PSA is Knocking em out the park these days!👍🤙🇺🇸💪
Just picked one of these fde bcgs up for my current build (thankfully I live 5 minutes from a PSA store) did you test this out yet? I was impressed with the quality myself
That is one good looking BCGs....Is Toolcraft a bad BCG?......👍🇺🇸
Toolcraft is great.
I've become a BCG enthusiast. I went to your guys at optics planet, they have the best selection that ive found for bcgs and barrels. Thanks for turning me into them. In your opinion whats the best for the price? Thank you for the video.
the best bcg for the price is PSA Premium bcg, if I could have a 5 gallon bucket full of them I would
i have this in Gray, 109.00 worth every penny. almost zero friction inside the upper. whatever the true coating is helps retain lubricant well and expels dirt and grit.
How the color hold up? My first AR was a grey Freedom from PSA and I'm thinking about replacing the BCG with a grey DLC and getting a FDE one for another project
Who coats it? Cryptic Coatings?
I wonder if it will keep that coating after couple rounds
200 + for Danial Defense bolt carrier. I have 5 ar's and each have DD bolt carrier. I just don't know if they are worth it or not. Have had 0 problems with them.
DD makes parts for the military. They are the best in the industry.
How many rounds have you put through that bad boy so far?
Damn, looks real nice!
Hey...I went to your website via link above and found the FDE version, but I prefer the gray version... do you have a direct link on the gray version so I can purchase and help you page?
If you use his link just search for bolt carriers and it should be there I just ordered the gray and dark earth
That's cool. I jumped into panama with a m16a2 using the equivalent of their basic $40 milspec bokt carrier. I fired full auto for about 6 hours straight. Under a life or death situation and Intense heat (due to full auto rate of fire) I nor anyone I knew had a single failure. Spend that extra cash if you want. Just don't lie to yourself in thinking your semi auto civilian ar build needs to be better than true milspec. Your weapon will never be subjected to those conditions or consequences.
FOR SURE!!!! THE MILITARY DOESNT SKIP A BEAT
Random Dude Stuff RLTW was here a name for that encounter? Thank you for your service brother
RLTW sounds like you drive a milspec truck/car smh
@@mpett2 just cause.
@@mpett2 that's cause, not cuz... though that may have been just as accurate. We assaulted Rio hato airport.
Tool Marks in Slots most likely End Mill feed lines. And Most Likely an End Mill going dull Or To great feed rate.. Now What is the coating supposed to do as far as performance.
These marketing terms kill me. What the hell is DLC - Diamond Like Coating process? This is completely unclear. Is it a nitro-carbonization process like QPQ nitrating? What is this?
It's not a marketing term. Hope this helps. It's the latest in technology that is an upgrade to nickel boron coatings.
www.ibccoatings.com/dlc-coating-diamond-like-carbon-coating-ceratough-d#targetText=DLC%20Coating%20stands%20for%20diamond,hardness%2C%20and%20high%20corrosion%20resistance.
DLC Coating stands for diamond-like carbon coating, and is a nanocomposite coating that has unique properties of natural diamond low friction, high hardness, and high corrosion resistance.
DLC coatings can have different structures and properties that rely on the ratio of SP3 (diamond) and SP2 (carbon) or other fillers like hydrogen, silicon, and metal in the layer.
Characteristics:
High hardness
Low coefficient of friction (0.02 - 0.15)
High corrosion resistance
Great adhesion to substrate material
Fretting resistance
Adhesive wear resistance
Self lubrication in dry wear conditions
Excellent release properties
Electrical insulation
@@Uberragen21 tnx. just now read that myself.
I have a DLC BCG from toolcraft. Its not a marketing gimmick. Its a fantastic coating.
Kinda surprised that they don't have DLC firing pin and ejector. Still yet, good deal for the $.
Love PSA
I wonder what is better . Nitride , QPQ , Phosphate , DLC , Nickel , NP3 , or Chrome .
I kniw the best Bolt period for hard use is LMT Enhanced Bolt . They use a proprietary Nickel .
Out of all my BCG I own only 2 aren't milspec . I have a LWRCI Nickel Boron that came with M6 DI , and DD Chrome Plated .
I need to try out a DLC Bolt / BCG.
I wonder if it's slicker Than NP3.
Love it
Pretty!👍👍👍
gawd dammat! i hate it when i start impulse buying.
Hey Kotaboy how has these BCG been running? Does it clean off well?
What about toolcraft?
Sir, you build a lot of ARs, have you had any experience with POF's Ultimate Bolt Carrier Group with the roller cam pin? They are not cheap, but I am starting to see folks using them in their builds, I am wondering if its worth using in my next build.? Many thanks for all the GREAT videos you do and have a super great weekend!
I'll reserve judgement about the new coating until I see how it stands up to use, and then abuse. Looks pretty, but pretty doesn't mean a thing if it doesn't function as designed.
The dlc coated rc engine crankshafts lasts forever
Nice firing pin mechanism
That's right NRA I thank you for your Service
now I want one
The coyote brown looks awesome too. I'm getting one tomorrow what do you recommend dlc or nickel boron? Do you still have your link for them?
Good morning, do they make these for .308?
@Anthony, you might want to check with Delta Team Tac, they sell ADK'S Bionic .308 bolt for cheap!
I think its time for some PSA give aways :)
What is the rumor about tool craft other than it being one of the best bolt carrier group so you can get
