My dad is in his 80's, men back then never showed their emotions, we knew he loved us by how hard they worked.
That was so sweet..and honest. Bless him for being open..Many people go through these motions with their parents.... "I know you do" destroyed me
Ray could be talking about my dad who also could never say how he felt about us and had a rough upbringing. But I knew he loved us. Break the mold! Say the words! Be demonstrative! 💙
These Sam Jones interviews are the most serious Ive ever seen Ray. Still likeable, still relatable.
The way he talk about his dad it's such a huge stuff we can feel it..

Love Ray. Such a solid guy. And Sam is so good at exploring the edges of where his subject might want to go. He's never really shut down in his interviews. A by product of getting out of the way of his interviewee. The best of the best Journalists could learn a few things from Sam.

I think a lot of us that are close to his age had a father or mother who didn’t verbalize their feelings. For me it was my father, but not once did it ever occur to me to wonder how he felt about me. I always knew I was loved. I feel terrible for people like Ray who have a hard time with it. ❣️
I was nearly 30 when my dad said he was proud of me... But I'm sure glad he said it.

My dad was an amazing person but never said I love yoo or gave hugs. I think that's why I'm exactly the opposite with my kids.
