CASSO BLVCK Uncharted was really entertaining and I realized how beautiful it was
Not if you beat the game close to 15 times or more, like i did with part 1, which also enabled me to explore absolutely every single corner of it, and which I'll def repeat in part 2 as well.
Even the first one, its a game that I felt connected to the characters and story, like I was emotionally invested. I nearly teared when I watched the release trailer and Ellie was singing.
Coming back to this trailer after playing this game a bunch it’s incredibly impressive that even though this trailer is heavily scripted compared to the actual section in-game, this trailer is 100% honest in showcasing the gameplay itself. The dodging, improved transitions of stealth amidst combat, the Ai hunting you more intelligently. I love it when developers stay honest in showcasing their gameplay. 🎮
every gameplay teaser is script but this game still has a lot of amazing details and animations in combat

Steven Lynch Bullets leave grisly marks, and dismember people in gratuitous gibs in both games. Did you not see the bullet hole in the shocked face of the woman who peeked under the car and spotted Ellie, and how it continued to pour out blood after she dropped? Uncharted, sure. But TLOU is full of gore.
Unless you’re talking about the protagonists, then yeah they just bleed a little and grunt in pain unless it’s a kill shot and game over.

8:01 blood actually pours from her bullet hole after she hits the ground. And you can see their reflections from the wetness on the ground. Naughty Dog and their attention to these little details are one of the reasons their games always impress me.
And instead of not being able to fit through the two file cabinets(?) because the gap is narrower than shoulder width, she actually sidles through them
That stuff makes me think that the game won’t launch on current gen, it’s not just the graphics that are insane it’s the insane level of detail as well.

Even a full year later there's still so many details to notice. I love the way Ellie looks back and forth between the person who just shot the her human shield. Like, "What? But that was your guy!" like she really didn't expect them to do that, it's great.

I reckon that girl and Joel are killed by those people. The girl first at about a quarter of the way through then Joel in the middle.
Joel definitely isn't dead yet, but I don't think he will die in the game either, because in the documentary about the making of the first game they talked about how it was a dual protagonist story, and I don't think they would just kill off one of them. I could be wrong though the story is about hate so you never know.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but the AI on this game seems incredible. That and this whole thing came off like a QTE event, but with real gameplay. If this game is really this fluid...wow...

React to you holding a hostage they would then drop their gun or running out of ammo the would rush straight to you. I think it was something like that, but for some reason they cut it out. I’m so glad that they have mechanics like that in this game. I’m so looking forward to play it

Grass, kind of, makes stealth easier. Cars, no. Enemies will always try to grab you if they catch you under them, making them predictable.

Playing this whole sequence on my first playthrough was so much fun.
Ellie is using a machete, rather than her knife from the first game.
The only other time Ellie used a machete was when she lost most of her innocence and killed David.

One of the reasons I really love naughty dogs is their commitment to implement any slight human behaviour onto their games, always trying to make the game as real as it could get so we can have that deep human connection with game characters BEAUTIFUL😃

Noticed that the enemies kept referring to Ellie as Wolf. Maybe this is a stretch, but I'm wondering if we'll see an I Am Legend sort of situation, where Ellie is this infamous boogey man figure for this group that she's killing. Like from their perspective, she's some nasty villain who butchers them any chance she gets.

Looks extremely tense, hopefully they were playing on the easiest difficulty, because the AI had view of Ellie several times and was barely noticed while she was also shot, stabbed, shot with an arrow, and slashed with whatever that weapon was and was still able to outwrestle dudes twice her size. I'm sure that's just the easiest difficulty though. I hope they have something where the more you're injured then the less time you have during the quick time events, the less accurate you are with weapons, the slower you move, and the less damage you deal with melee.

Yeah it would be amazing on the PC. I think you can play the PS3 The last of us on PC via the PS anywhere subscription. Maybe they will get this in there eventually. Not really sure as I never looked into it much.

It definitely looks more fluid and what I find more impressive is the facial expressions. my god are they high quality. Look at Ellie's face for example After the kiss has ended, where her feelings are thoroughly expressed with a plethora of emotions, in what I can only say, is one of the most exquisite pieces of facial animation I have come across...ever.

MTF Animation the whole point of motion capture IS to capture subtleties in facial expressions
i work in the industry , ill tell you now it does not pick eveything up , it still needs working from an animator, the headset also records the acting which the animator uses as reference so we can match the actor , it captures the vast majority but then needs cleaning and exagerating to get across the performance

The Ai is the thing that impressed me the most with this...
I remember back when I played half Life 2 and the first Halo being impressed with the Ai, and imo games haven't taken that next step in Ai.

What are you talking about? That AI is not so clever, just like the AI in the first game or uncharted. It's okay, but not clever. The AI in MGS V was more clever. There were at least 3 times where Ellie normally must have been seen by the enemies, the first game had the same issue. The graphics look phenomenal, no question. But claiming the AI would be so too, is a lie.

Well of course. But I wouldn't really say that MGS5's AI was any more ''clever'', as it was just more varied in options and coded reactions to the player. Clocked nearly 150hrs into that game by now and the AI, for the most part is actually pretty generic. Was rather impressive at first but once you start to see all the faults and pre-scripted repetitive behaviour (which is just.. a thing for any kind of AI in games), it's just like any other AI in an open world stealth-action game.
Granted, that yeah it was given a lot more options to work with but it still suffers from the common tropes such as awful vision cones, taking way too long to recognize an obvious person crouched near a rock, limited hearing when you open doors near to them or knock over some object, hell... Did you even know that you can take out smaller bases just with a bunch of decoys?

I love the original game, truly, but you know what bugs me about The Last of Us? Why does Joel not have a knife? Why do I have to make shivs like I'm in prison? The 14 year old girl has a knife, but the grown man killing machine has to make shivs? None of the countless survivors you kill has a knife you can scavenge? I mean, I grew up in the country. I've carried a folding knife in my pocket every day of my life since I was 7. I probably have 8 different combat knives, including a USMC KA-BAR from Vietnam. But Joel can't find one single knife in damn near the entire country? 🤨

The whole game is about stealth, for both characters. I'm just making the observation that there is zero chance of a guy like Joel or Bill or Tommy or any of them not having knives. And if they didn't have one, the first person or even clicker/stalker etc. they killed would supply them with one. You can't keep yourself alive with rabbits or wild game trying to skin and clean the things with shivs. You'd need a good blade constantly just to stay alive, without even considering having to fight anything with it. It just seems like an odd choice made for gameplay purposes that doesn't make any sense in any other context
