Back when this game had not yet been released, I watched this trailer full of excitement. And now I watch this again, I feel some kind of nostalgia. I know the places, the people, I know how things go around there, I know this city. It feels weird, but I feel it, nostalgia.
You know, in hind sight, I have to say this trailer did more harm than good. I mean, don't get me wrong. It's a totally awesome trailer. It's just that the trailer portrays the game as something it isn't. This trailer makes me feel like I'm about to play a game I truly have never played before. Something that has a limitless game world with intricate systems that allow me to explore and experience so many interesting characters and stories. Something wide-open. Not in the sense say Skyrim is wide-open. Wide-open in the sense that there is a lot of freedom to explore stories. This trailer makes me expect the next evolution of an Immersive Simulator--like a true next-gen Deus Ex or System Shock if you will. Not just a graphical next-gen--a conceptual next-gen. A next-gen in execution. What we got was a very traditional, linear experience that was more like Far Cry than Deus Ex. To be fair--I love me some Far Cry. But Far Cry isn't asking me to really be immersed in my character or the stories in which he is involved. I think we all got hyped on the gameworld due to this trailer. And what we were given simply did not live up to the expectations.
ok, I somewhat agree with you. True, I think this trailer focused too much on the world that cdprojekt built instead of the main story, which sure, gave people the expectation that this was going to be pretty much a do whatever you want rpg game. _however_ Cyberpunk was sold as a finished AAA game, but what we got is early access. That's not failing to live up to expectations, that's simply failing.
Yeah it made me think it was gonna be loaded with like random encounters where shit unfolds organically like GTA5 strangers anf freaks but no map marker for it or like RDR2 when you'll randomly see a dude get mauled by a wolf or robbed or some shit. Instead the world felt like a GTA when you've completed everything and you're the only one running around the map doing stuff while everyone else just walks on the sidewalk or drives in circles
That seems like a problem with the entirety of the videogame industry ever since the last generation of videogames: They have gotten so, so stale compared to the evolution in gameplay immersion that used to happen back about 1 to 2 decades ago. We were really expecting to get our "True Cyberpunk experience" with the previous gen. We were truly expecting we'd make another leap forward with videogames on a conceptual level like we saw back in the 90's and onwards. Something worthy of the impact something like Half-Life has made to gaming history. Something that would literally and unironically revolutionize the gaming industry forever. Yet, as you said, we just got another Far Cry. Or more accurately: A slightly reskined Far cry: Blood Dragon. And do you know what's the worst part? It's not just Cyberpunk, every single damn AAA game nowadays. CP2077 was just the most iconic example because of the hype. But it's far from the only one and this stagnation problem has become universal within the entire gaming industry. We have gotten stuck in 2013 and never have gotten out of it. How did this happen?
In 2019 Cyber Projekt Red were voted the most frustrating game developer. Main issues? Sky-high rate of hype, and taking longer to develop their games than anyone else. Can’t deny it, it’s all true, but everyone still wants to play their games. You see, these guys always have a masterpiece for you. It’s not a lie, or an illusion.... it’s just around the corner. And it’s keeps fans going. 2023 Update: Well it started out bad but those chooms at CPR got there in the end. 3 years after release, the game is fucking NOVA.
Right? I assume the majority of development left to do is just create the massive amount of content they need to fill the game world. Apparently all of the NPCs are going to have their own loops and backstories different quests you can explore just by following people around. I sincerely hope they have that level of depth to it, that would be amazing.
Hold on, just because they cut together a gameplay video of one mission and i trailer doesn't mean the game functions properly yet. I just played The Witcher 3 for the second time, and i was actually a bit concerned with the amount of bugs and glitches that are still in it. So i hope the remaining 2 years are also dedicated to having the game run as smoothly as for example Horizon Zero Dawn
@@am33x I thought the same, until i played it more than a year after i finished it the first time. I noticed the game still had some of the original bugs and glitches , and some i hadn't seen before. I have no idea if anyone will see this comment since this game is old news but I feel like posting it anyway Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game. To me at least. As someone who recently bought the game and played it, I enjoyed the hell out of it. It had good characters, fun combat and banger music, really cool side quests and the main story was great. Yes, it had a rough launch but its in a much more playable state now. In my playthrough (which started around march-april 2022), there were minimal bugs and glitches. It was enjoyable. But, I think people were dissappointed cuz they were expecting a grander scope. On GOG (it was half off on that platform, I made an account specifically to buy that game), it gave me a bunch of free downloadables and included was a big 256 page .pdf of a tabletop RPG manual for a game of a similar name. And I think thats where Cyberpunk's problems come from. I have no idea if this is common knowledge or not, but I can see why this game got delayed so many times and why some people weren't satisfied with the final product. Imagine turning something like D&D into a cohesive video game. Its such a daunting challenge and I can see why people didn't like it HOWEVER This is a good game. I will not anyone tell me otherwise. I payed my $30 (US) for it, I got over 60 hours of gameplay time in a single playthrough, did sidequests that were really fun, and did so much good stuff. This is a good game and I recommend it. Whether or not its worth a full $60 is up to you.

@@SnrubSource I haven't played Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but that's true. Rockstar are the best at creating big open worlds that feel alive. Unfortunately, they do love milking their (2) main titles, because they are a for-profit company after all, and I don't like the direction of GTA Online at all, but when it comes to promising something, they usually deliver and their games live up to the hype. GTA V Story mode was an amazing experience. Online could be just as amazing, but their greed ruined it - with all their futuristic military vehicles now the game is more like Saints Row V instead of GTA V, but I can't blame them just because I don't like it, it's their decision ultimately.

i think the best part about rewatching this trailer for me is seeing all the little details they have given to characters and quests like just as a example the guy that gets his eye ripped out might be the one from the GIG where you have to sneak into the tigers claws restaurant and steal back his eye, mr blue eyes also appears twice, once in space so that could hint towards the crystal palace, the corpo meeting where guys mind gets fried is in the corpo intro, loved this trailer enough now i love it more with context.

Now that Phantom Liberty is just under a week away, I've decided to watch this trailer once again. It's still as badass as it was 5 years ago. Congrats on turning this game's fortunes around, CD Projekt Red; this is one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing through from start to finish, and now people are slowly starting to realize its true merits.
It's a great game, always loved it even through the bugs, but they marketed it all wrong and the last-gen console versions were atrocious (which they knew since they didn't release them to reviewers). It's hard to come back from those mistakes, in fact it's pretty impressive they've built up so much goodwill in the time since.
As an old nerd, this game was rushed but CDProjekt Red Put their heads down in the same way Sean Murray did with No Mans Sky. This trailer is what they have finally created and I urge anyone who sees this today and thinks, man that looks fun. I want you to respect the hard work they've done to make it, yeah it really is fun. Yeah they made this. Yeah it's a lot of fun now.

@@evoliciousyet the game is still great, steam reviews will tell you that and it’s literal proof. The game is worth what you pay for. Seemingly they have cancelled much of their post-launch support. At the last investor callings, it was confirmed multiplayer has been completely scrapped. In case someone missed the secret message at the end (set resolution to 4K, play back speed to 0.25, fast forward to 1:37, play frame by frame, and pause when there's a background full of red text), for those who are inpatient, there it is:
"It’s been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and… went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things - you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves and get to work. We wanted to give you the Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.
As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077’s pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point we made the decisions to resume talking about the game when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realize you’ve been impatiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn’t like anyone to feel that we’re taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too :)
But to the point. Today is the day. If you’re seeing this, it means you saw the trailer. - our vision for Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilized life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don’t let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You’ll be able to create your own character and… well, you’ll get to know the rest of what show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!
Before we finish, you probably have some questions,
When?
When we told you we would only release the game when it’s ready, we meant it. We’re definitely much closer to a release date than we were back then ;) but it’s still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us. It’s the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.
How big?
Seriously big, but… to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we’ll do this before we start talking about pre-orders or ask anything of you.
Free DLC/Expansions/DRM
Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077, will be 100% DRM-free on PC.

0:02 Five years later, the metro is finally here. 😂
Yep. We were shown and expected a rockstar-quality living world, but we got a glorified museum
Thank you for encapsulating what I've thought about this game as compared to the trailer since it's release.

Earlier versions of W3 had some minor bugs. From 1.31 I belive there were close to none, mostly in Toussaint.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game.
Its such a daunting challenge and I can see why people didn't like it
HOWEVER
This is a good game. I will not anyone tell me otherwise. I payed my $30 (US) for it, I got over 60 hours of gameplay time in a single playthrough, did sidequests that were really fun, and did so much good stuff.

Really? All the violence and all? 😂
Don't know if that's a compliment
@Nico Guapo just want the human augmentation part tbh
Even this trailer is bugged! At 0:24 see the lower left corner and you will notice NPC disappearing! The truth was always in front of our eyes! ahahaha
Someone needs to upvote this comment
I saw that and, know what? I was hopeful that was a sign that this was actually in engine. If only.
Cyberbug 2077
💀
HOLY SHIT!!!!!
This trailer is the definition of "you'll own nothing and be happy"
i think the best part about rewatching this trailer for me is seeing all the little details they have given to characters and quests like just as a example the guy that gets his eye ripped out might be the one from the GIG where you have to sneak into the tigers claws restaurant and steal back his eye, mr blue eyes also appears twice, once in space so that could hint towards the crystal palace, the corpo meeting where guys mind gets fried is in the corpo intro, loved this trailer enough now i love it more with context.
“What are you doing??”
“Killing other games”
Wicket They wish...
I get that refrence
Volt Umbra why do people like the fallout games so much? They're not that good. I remember when everyone kept praising fallout 3 like it was the best game ever made. When I finally decided to play it I was so disappointed, it really wasn't that good of a game. Nothing made me care for that world or my character, or any other character. And the main story didn't make any sense.
The only good thing I found was the little stories about the other vaults.
Bethesda is in deep shit after seeing witcher 3 so they made multiplayer fallout with microtransactions...enjoy kid
Volt Umbra sure it isnt as relevant but at least it isnt relevant for the wrong reasons
Glad we don't have to wait till 2077 for this
SDG Danny LoooL
bitch we might
If it's valve we might
Prince style if its Valve you better hope we achieved hyper-sleep cause we will have to wait for a millennial.
SDG Danny is it gonna come out for ps4
With the release of version 2.1, it's safe to say that the game is now worthy of its trailer
Yeah v2.1is awesome.. but the game isn't even close to the trailer
@asurvivor3846 So, like every cinematic trailer ever made for a video game?
dont include Rockstar games :)@@errorx_x1063
"4. Microtransations?
In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?"
CD Projekt, I love you! :D
Kai Shouri False alarm. There will not include microtransactions. *Who's Got More Hype Than You?!*
If this game is a single player only it’s a disappointment
Why? The best games are single player!
ElijahCHAOTIC you're a disappointment
Not everybody wants to play games with foul mouthed 12 year olds...I'll be happy with single player.
my body : ready
my pc : not ready
hahaha i know exactly how you feel
dude its honestly sad
You have 1 year at least for an upgrade.
Start slaving away to upgrade your PC. That's what i'm currently doing.
Stayler17 unfortunately I don't have a PC, I was referring to my XPS 15
i might build one in the future though
Well I mean pretty much everything in this trailer can be experienced in the game, not sure how it was a year ago but it's my most played game this past few years.
You can go into the metro and see guys get shocked to death inside of planes?
Bullshit
Lemme know where to find the taxi as well
No metro, no flying vehicles, no billiards and overall no living and breathing world this trailer is trying to sell
@@wholesomebaker5410 metro and flying vehicles with mods. I know it doesn't make up for the vanilla game but still. And if you're on console then shit out of luck.
Watching this after getting the 2.0 update, im happy how this game made its comeback

You jinxed it
DISCLAIMER : Not actually game footage
After 2.5 years of waiting, the game sells what was shown in the trailer. Can’t wait to play Phantom Liberty!)
Still missing too many features shown here. 😊

3 years later we’re about to ride the metro station as well have the radio in our pockets like a 1980s Walkman. Hell yeah!!🥰😈🤘🏻🤘🏻
5 years later and we still can't ride the fucking train that's LITERALLY show in the trailer. Good Job.
who cares about the train
@@heytemboumaza6369 Who cares about your comment?
@@thomasmutiu who cares about your existence ?
At 1:39 there's a message from CDPR, in case if anyone missed.
It reads:
"It's been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and... went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of
things - you announce a game then shut up, roll up your sleeves and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent
was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.
As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077's pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision
to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realize you've been (im)patiently waiting for a very
long time, and we wouldn't like anyone to feel that we're taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be
real, too :)
But, to the point. Today is the day. If you're seeing this, it means you saw the trailer - our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is jin pieces,
megacorporations control all aspects of civilized life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don't let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 us a
true single player, story-driven RPG. You'll be able to create your own character and... well, you'll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!
Before we finish, you probably have some questions, right?
1. When?
When we told you we would only release the game when it's ready, we meant it. We're definitely much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it's still not the time to
confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us - it's beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.
2 How big?
Seriously big, but..., to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we'll do this before we start
taking any pre-orders or ask anything of you.
3.Free DLC/Expansions/DRM?
Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM-free on PC.
4.Microtransactions?
In a single-player game? Are you nuts?
Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share you opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.
Yours,

This trailer is the best example of why game companies should ALWAYS make in game footage trailers. Because This is a totally different game than what cyberpunk is today. Nothing in this trailer happens in game. Except for the robot dog thing
lol
Cyberpunk did it. They actually did it. Thank you, Chooms!

psykosonikwarrior Right but I thought that was official lore of Night City? The sky was darkened cause of the bombs or something along those lines?
U love this but I wish it was dark
yes, but it looks a bit too clean, and the I think the palm trees are way too much.
Buckets That was in 2020 though.
Sam T. Always gotta find something to complain about. They did a lot of things that pertain to a Californian feel, and the palm trees were just part of that. It's actually great attention to detail.

Can't wait until 2077 to see the real meme arise
Man, Imagine if they released this game today, after all the necessary changes have been made. This game is a masterpiece now, it would have been one of the best game releases ever if they just waited, and kept improving it constantly. But I still love CDPR, one of the best things, especially in the entertainment industry to come out of Poland. I regretted my decision to pre purchase this game, I played a few hours and let it rot in my library for a few months, but now I'm glad I bought it, it was worth the wait.
I feel like the game right now is finally in the state where it should've been on release day. Imagine what they could've added in these 3 years if they hadn't had to spend the game's entire lifespan on fixing all the bugs. I hope they learned their lesson with 2077. If so, I think the sequel could definitely be up there with games like GTA.
Imagine if they released it with the metro update lololol.
That reveal was magical. This is going to be huge.
'trailer' lol wheres the gameplay hahahaha
