- Overlanding the canol road in 2021.
Exploring the historic South and North Canol roads in the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
On this trip, we are leaving from Atlin BC, we'll head towards Johnssons crossing from where we will start the south canol road toward Ross river. This remote road will take us trhgouth some beautiful backcountry. From ross river we take the ferry to start the north canol road, which goes in to some serious remote backcountry. The North Canol road goes into the Northwest territories, and becomes a rough single track. We get to the end of the North canol road to the beginning of the canol trail where there is an animal check point. here we turn around and take the canol road back to Ross river. From ross river we return to Atlin via Whitehorse.

The burnt side-by-side is my Uncle's. It caught on fire while traveling and the Jerry can was too close caused by friction.

That's an amazing place. I started paddling the Tsichu and Keele rivers from the NWT side of that pass. I got dropped off with a folding canoe and paddled to Norman Wells.

8:57 is where I started my 52 day canoe trip ending at the end of the mountain river with a group of 14 including me all of witch were my friends! same year as well

Yes! It would make a great snowmobile trip too, with all the Tundra landscape at mcMillan pass, you could go far without fallen trees or stuff like that!

What a great adventure. We made the trip three times many years ago.
Oh wow, yes, it sure is a beautiful part of the country there! We are not much in to going to the same place twice, but are inspired to return and hike the Canol heritage trail.

So how far can you drive if you continue on or is where you turned around the end point for motorized vehicles?
We turned around a the wildlife control center. This is where people who keep going on foot, horses or atv park. The trail is still more or less drivable after for a while depending of your commitment. There is a youtube video showing a convoy of land rovers going a long way on the trail eastbound.
