Johns Hopkins Medicine I’m doing better. Almost done with treatment. My diagnosis was changed from stage 2 to stage 1. I had a low anterior resection surgery a month and ago and am wearing a temporary ileostomy. Will have reversal surgery next month. I have one of the best colorectal surgeons in Virginia

Update 12/29/19- I’m 9 months post ileostomy reversal. The things you take for granted in life pooping normally. My whole outlook on life changed, and I’m a better person. I am a rectal cancer survivor.
I did 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, and had 2 surgeries. Multiple tests uncomfortable procedures to say the least but my Diagnosis amended to stage 1. I’m done with treatments. My last two CT scans were clear. So my new normal is 2 CT scans twice a year. Not gonna lie- it was hard, the radiation was brutal and my poor bottom hurt so bad. I’m a new normal now, and I’m hiking 3 miles every day. After surgery there was a mass shooting at my job- bldg 2 city of va Beach so now I have to focus on mentally healing. If anyone is going through a new diagnosis you can reach out to me. - Jen

I did chemo radiation and 2 surgeries, low anterior resection davinci robot and ileostomy reversal. I had to wear an ileostomy temporary for 7 weeks that was awful My poor skin burned so bad I cried every day. Go to the doctor if you have symptoms and are watching this video like I did. Pepper Sangster I’m so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Its been 7 months since my diagnosis. I am now done with treatment. But will be under heavy surveillance. Most early stage rectal cancers can be cured so that is in our favor. Stay positive, do you have a good support system family/friends? Have a good attitude and just take it one day at a time. It will get better and be patient with yourself.
You can email me at jenifercornell@gmail.com if you need support. I’ve been through chemo/radiation and two surgeries. I am doing better every day.

Also you will adjust to a new normal. After you have part of your colon removed you won’t poop or fart the same. All good tho. I’m doing great. Tho the first time I farted after surgery I thought I was going to lift off to space. I hope you have a sense of humor bec you will need that too. God bless you.

Poor little baby. Do go to a doctor honey, a GI doctor or at least your family doctor. And find a good natural cream or lotion to gently apply after every single time you go to the bathroom. You can even just have a fungus. Find out! You'll feel lots and lots better. And after you pee and wipe, take a single sheet of toilet paper, wet it a bit, and gently dab the whole area from front to back (never from back to front).

I hope you have been immediately to a GP & DEMANDED a referal to a GASTROLOGIST for a COLONOSCOPY (day surgery uncomplicated) where they will take a biopsy. If Cancer a Public Hosp ONCOLOGIST TEAM can treat with a Radiation & a CHEMOTHERAPY Specialist initially over 6 wks then ongoing for few months. Hope you have done something already, if not, 🔴DO IT NOW NOW NOW. If not Cancer a Colonoscopy to check is very easy. If Cancer hang in, & brave it thru treatment with the help of a Dietician & only positive support people. Try to have 2 or 3 STRONG POSITIVE support people around you especially at medical appointments.

Hello everyone. I'm a 27 Y/O veteran/fire fighter and I eat very healthy, lift weights and run on the regular. 2 weeks ago I woke up in the morning and I could not poop. Then the stool finally started coming out but they look like ribbons. Like a gift wrapper ribbon. Constipation and ribbon-like stools. Opened Google on my phone and Ended up going to the ER where they did blood tests, rectal digital examination, and CT-scan with dye. THEY FOUND NOTHING, and the doctor even pointed out I did not even have stools backed up, with the radiologist saying not a spec inside my body and bowels looked out of the ordinary. Its been 8 days since that, and now I'm also seeing white mucus (no blood) on my stools, with 2-3 small ribbon BM a day, with two small soft lumps on the outside of my anal cavity that inflate when I push (Hemorrhoids, I'm guessing?) PLEASE HELP. I am worried sick and cannot sleep at night with the urge to poop and anxiety. please someone.
I normally do not worry about stuff like this but I've been down the Reddit rabbit hole many a night and I just cannot seem to know what is happening. Gastroenterologist appointment is in a whole 15 days from now, and I am worried my condition will deteriorate.
