    This conductor is wonderful. Such colors in the orchestra, such expressivity in the phrasing and agogic. He accompanies and leads at the same time.

    Been a fan of Lucic since Verdi's Macbeth was on PBS. Glad he is essentially remodeling the character for this production.

    It's Google that chooses the ads. But it's the Met that chooses whether to *monetize* the ads. There's a default where they can - and should - turn off ads for all of their CZcams videos.

  • @jewelmarkess
    @jewelmarkess Před 11 lety +1

    I see. I've never uploaded a video so I didn't know. In this case I absolutely agree with you. The Met purpose should be to attract more people to opera, especially people who are new to opera - there are many of those on you tube, not make money on completely irrelevant ads. Now, I am not a fan of this production of Rigoletto (but then I hate "regie" - Verdi wanted duke to be an absolute ruler not a Las Vegas entertainer), but this is beside the point. The singing is great.

      Are you kidding ? His tuning is awfull. Most of his high notes are very low. This duet is very difficult for the baryton, that's true, but it could not be an excuse when one sings in such a great Opera house.

  • @Houdi2
    @Houdi2 Před 11 lety

    Hint: You can select a monetization default that would prevent this from happening again.
    Sorry I blew up. I think you're opera is going to be great. I am looking forward to it very much.

  • @Houdi2
    @Houdi2 Před 11 lety

    WHY on god's green earth would you monetize this otherwise excellent promotional video? You're making me watch it through an advertisement for a totally unrelated product - car tires? - in the hopes of making a dollar and a half from a click that would take me entirely away from the opera you're trying to sell??? Where are your marketing department's BRAINS?

    I don't know if it's the uploader who chooses the ads or you tube or if it's picked by some you tube program at random. At any rate, I doubt it's the Met who chooses you tube ads.

    My friend and I would love to perform this but I can't find the music for it anywhere! I've looked on IMSLP and also taken the Boosey & Hawkes vocal score out of the library but the only duets I can find in act 1 don't seem to be the right ones! can anyone help? Thanks!

    Pero que pasa con los hombres de esta generacion? Este Rigoletto como tantos otros no pertenecen al Met.
    Que desgracia!

  • @mitchellkasprzyk5436
    @mitchellkasprzyk5436 Před 3 lety +1

    Lucic sounds even worse in the house than here on recording. He is fortunate to sing in this operatic time period, as he would be in third-rate houses just a few decades ago. His voice is woofy and doesn’t carry in a large space.

    • @francoisgauthier3888
      @francoisgauthier3888 Před 2 lety

      I do agree with you. It's unbelievable for me that such a singer could be engaged in great opera houses to sing Rigoletto.

    no matter how good she is, after her excellent and mean and diabolic Queen of the Night, she would never ever convince me that she is the fragile Gilda. Beside, she sounds very German....not Italian.... (and the baritone is flat? or it is me?)

    I detest what the Met has done as far as their NEW stagings. Mozart's Die Zauberfloete is but one example of several abominations. HOWEVER,I really liked this when I saw it. BUT,as beautiful as Damrau's voice is, she needs to lose that weight! Sorry.I enjoyed the entire Las Vegas theme.very innovative, and the story is timeless. Debauchery, selfishness, greed, murder, revenge. However, other sopranos could have fit the physical bill better. She sounded lovely. Looked ridiculous in costumeSORRY.

    I never understood how Lucic could have such a career. He is usually flat, sounds hoarse and is a terribly uninvolved actor.
