So. This has been going on at Toyota dealers for years - and likely other makes too. They take a new vehicle that’s not selling quickly, someone drives it for a bit - say a department manager, sales manager, dealer principal etc. or even possibly used as a short term loaner for a good or heater customer. Then the dealership RDR’s it (Retail Delivery Registered) and bam, it’s a used car. I won’t name names but there are some dealers in the Portland Metro area that do this A LOT and I’d presume it’s done all over the country. The distributors could give a care about it as they make their cut, the dealer gets a sale, a used unit, AND earns turn to get new unit allocated - the other thing is since it’s used and not new - the flooring starts over again, and whatever the term is until curtailments (payments) start - it’s once again “free inventory” for the dealer…..
Still seems a bit of a stretch. Unless they do this multiple times on a regular basis it won't change their flooring cost that much. What about the Tundras? Some of those have been sitting so long they likely have flat spots on the tires and dead batteries. For reals. Either it was used by an employee and converted to used or somebody got cold feet and starting stressing about 5 years of 900 dollar payments.
@@HiPlains1 not a stretch at all. It’s not just the flooring, it also gives them turn and earn, prime used, they get 2% holdback, plus another 2% from Toyota - now no one sees an MSRP, or TSRP as they’re called now - as mentioned earlier there are a couple Portland area Toyota stores that do this all the time. It’s slimy, and sleazy, but I’ve been watching the Tacomas since 2021 and have seen many specific vehicles, even Pro’s this has happened with. It’s not a sold unit that comes back on trade regardless of the story. I managed dealerships for nearly 40 years - which doesn’t make me an expert but I know a few things and have seen a few things. It comes down to simple math as in gross profits - $$$ ☮️
The dealership drove it a few hundred miles so it gets the benefit of showing it as “sold” so they get more allocations from Toyota and also gets the benefit of not showing the MSRP because it's used, the new buyer doesn't get the benefit of New car interest rates either. That dealership is a scam.
At least with my Credit union something this new qualifies for new car bank rates. This always happens with some buyers. Probably didn't want to pay 900 dollar payment for the next 5 years and decided to just take the hit now. The future brings allot of uncertainty for many. Many analyst are saying the feds reacted too slow and not enough on bank rates. And another round of hyperinflation is likely to hit us in the next 3 months. Which will cause more layoffs, bankruptcies, repos what have you. Paying 50 grand on a mid size truck would probably put allot of stress on many buyers. This is likely what really happened with this truck.
That's not how it works. If it was never titled, then it was never sold. You can simply ask to see the title which If it was ever truly sold will show the trail of ownership.
Yeah that’s crazy and what’s even crazier as I went by there this morning and it was gone lol sold lol 😂 thanks for the reply and checking out the channel. I wonder how much they sold it for !! Have a good evening my friend.
It still happens as soon as you drive off that lot you lost the percentage of what you paid unless it’s super rare or super sought after thanks for the reply. And checking out the channel.
The issue today is inflation. Learn some economics and how prices of goods actually work. It all started with the slowing down of global supply chains during the pandemic which drove prices up. Only way prices go down is a recession or depression which are the definition of what happens during deflation .
For the buyer of that truck he surely lost plenty when the dealer bought it back. Generally the minute you drive off it looses 10 percent or at least 5K dollars in this case. But he probably lost more. The dealer however will try to get full MSRP again. And might being its a sport.
I bought a new Frontier Pro4X for $44k (MSRP was $46k). After two months and 800 miles, I sold it to a local dealer for $37k. Another dealership offered me $32k, and the KBB instant buy offer was $34k. I had thought about keeping it for two years, but I figured the value would be around $25k by then. It was hard for me to keep a car that I didn't enjoy driving, so I took the hit and got myself a 2023 TRD Sport that I look forward to driving every time.

There's a used car dealer in the RGV. These guys would go buy new tacomas, drive them back to their lot and sell them as used. I always wondered what the benefit was for the dealer. The only thing I can think of was that back then 2nd and 3rd gen tacomas were in high demand so they would put a leveling kit on it and off road tires and bump up the price above what it was when new. You would see them on the lot front row with "LIKE NEW" or "LIFT KIT" Sure as sh***t they would sell.
$48K for a used Tacoma is ridiculous, so with taxes and registration would be close to $55, what a bargain when a new ford ranger raptor costs about the same new with a V6 motor 😂
Wait til the new and improved Tacoma’s start having recalls when things start to break, then they’re be more trade in’s and more 4th gens sitting on the lots. 😳

People have to realize the economy ain’t doing so good like 2008. Only way you see prices drastically come down in large categories like auto and home is deflation periods…aka recessions or depressions. If you want prices to go back to “normal”, you better be ready for bad economic times like 2008.
Its coming. The feds were too slow and didn't go far enough with bank rates. Most analyst say another round of hyperinflation is imminent. Which will cause more layoffs, bankruptcies, repos etc.. Yes 2008 all over again but probably much worse as the treasury has absolutely printed too much money. Put is this way national debt was 10 trillion in 2008. Guess what? Its 46 trillion now. You don't have to tell me how bad it will be. It will get ugly. I mean really ugly.
@@HiPlains1 hyperinflation didn't happen yet so idk what you mean by "again". If you want to see real hyperinflation, look at how bad Argentina is right now. They are about to print a 20,000 peso note, equivalent of around $23. Hyperinflation will only happen if rates are significantly lowered too quickly. Newest CPI data keeps showing inflation is going back up with economy getting worse, this is called stagflation. So the Fed likely will have to raise rates if inflation keeps increasing which only makes things worse for the economy. Stagflation has two bad sides, each is bad for the average person. Let's be honest, most people are sheep and won't notice until the final moments. Well debt ran up because of bailouts after 2008 along with both Republicans and democrats spending too much. Both parties are more financially ignorant than the average American, no surprise there. Only reason we have the best economy with such large debt is because of the Defense industry and our military. Don't be fooled, US will go to war if the value of the US dollar collapses, its the only way to keep America like it is where the government and citizens take out debt like there is no tomorrow.
@@StarInfinite00 Yeah your right. I think its going it pretty bad in the coming months. I've been holding off big purchases, am debt free and doing what I can to grow my money to at least try to keep even with inflation. When I read the numbers about how little money many have for emergencies or the amount of credit card debt etc.. its a scary thought. Also I agree stagflation is not good. Not even remotely so. Also looking at the debt clock got me pretty worried. The current admin is out of control with the printing. Like did they just print 10 trillion in the last 12 months?
@@HiPlains1 Your already better off than 80% of Americans. Good for you. See you need to stop blaming the president, doesn't matter if it's Biden or Trump, all the presidents in the last 20 years are part to blame for what is happening. In reality, Congress approves spending bills before the president signs off on it so it's all the Senate and House fault if you know how politics works, blame Congress aka all politicians on capital hill for careless spending. Government whether it's Trump or Biden admins don't care about you, they care about your taxes lmao 🤣. Current inflation can actually be partially blamed on Trumps advisors and Jerome Powell of the Fed in late 2019. We were actually heading into a period of deflation in late 2019 with prices coming down even with low rates but the people around Trump told him thats bad, so they encouraged him to pass higher government spending bills. It's not Biden fault either because he had no control over the pandemics effect on global supply chains, which lead to even greater price pressures. Both Biden and Trump aren't 100% at fault, its all the clowns around them telling them what to do. Remember neither president is a economist, they don't know what the fuck is going on.
Unfortunately, a couple of those payments can definitely do that lol 😂 thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend. Have a good evening.

As a used truck you don't know what the buyer paid. Don't assume they paid that price. Dealers usually price them very high. And the one thing when buying used is you don't know what they got in it. Exactly. Can’t wait to see that new all electric Tacoma lol 😂 smh 🤦🏾♂️ I just seen a really nice V8 tundra in army green lifted with a nice set of tires and I was like wow 🤩! Thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend. Have a good evening.
I’d love to hear the back story. Probably couldn’t afford the payments.
Exactly I’m definitely going to be nosy and try to find out do a part two on this lol 😂 thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend. Have a good day.
They probably traded it for another vehicle like the Camry or went for something bigger like a Tundra. People buy these four door trucks to use as a car and maybe it didn't fit for them or it just looked ugly in heir driveway.
Exactly thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend. Have a great day.
Maybe it’s a dealer Demo.
Could be thanks for the reply my friend!
Toyota knows there's a Tacoma cult, and they take advantage of it.
That’s definitely what it seems like. Thanks for the reply my friend have a good week.
Or, maybe they bought a Ford raptor maverick 😮 or nissan frontier 😊
I think they would probably rather walk lol 😂 jk Thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend. Have a great day
Depreciation doesn’t apply to the dealership? 😂 this is now a “used” Taco right?
Exactly lol thanks for the laugh my friend have a great weekend
Nothing going on with it! It sucks!
Lol 😂 smh 🤦🏾♂️ lol 😆 thanks for the laugh and checking out the channel my friend!!
What happened? Someone had buyers remorse that’s what happened.😂
Lol facts lol it definitely happens. Thanks for the reply my friend have a good evening.
They allow some to try for 7 days. Probably what it was
Yeah that’s a lot of miles for 7 days but who knows ! Thanks for the reply my friend have a great day !
Put the 4.7v8 and it'll sell like hotcakes
Facts !! Thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend. Have a good evening.

TOYOTA IS GOING UNDERGROUND
Lol 😂 right thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend!!
Wow, thanks for the feedback and the inside my friend. I truly appreciate it. Have a good evening.
I’m laughing my ass off.

Toyota will never redeem themselves after converting to 4cyl/ turbos. And not just Toyota but Chevy and other modern model releases.......Pretty soon lambo, Porsche, Ferrari will release 4cyl/ twin turbos lol! In with the old and out with the new!

Price is high and it used. 4cyl. I won’t buy it either.
lol right thanks for the reply and checking out the channel my friend! Have a great week !
No options , 1300 miles , no power seats , 49k.. gtfo.. I would walk away from that dealership asap.. got mine 50k out the door with most of the awesome options.. just broke 1K miles after owning it for a month and half. What a great midsize truck.. 👍🏼
Nice congratulations my friend on your new truck thanks for the feedback have a great day my friend!!
As a used truck you don't know what the buyer paid. Don't assume they paid that price. Dealers usually price them very high. And the one thing when buying used is you don't know what they got in it. Versus a New one the consumer generally has tools online to what a good, fare or bad price others pay.
Wth. That warranty is wack
Lol 😂 right ! Thanks for the reply my friend
Too expensive
Exactly and that’s really unfortunate. Thanks for the reply and checking out the channel. Have a great weekend my friend.

Repo
Lol 😂 could be lol thanks for the reply my friend have good week !
Customer bought it late afternoon or weekend, was approved for financing, made the deal and took it home. Financing problaly didn’t go thorough or something went wrong. Dealer probably tried every way to get financing as desperate for sales. Customer probably declined the high interest rate going back and forth with dealer that was finally approved. Had to return vehicle 🤣😎
Yeah, maybe but it takes a few days or a few weeks to put that type of mileage on it I would imagine lol unless they came from out of state thanks for the reply, my friend and checking out the channel. Have a great day.
