I'm in the group of people that love these blades, no they may not be the sharpest but for me on a 3 pass shave it gets me as close as any other blade does and on top of that I have never had irritation out of these blades! I will order them again.

Thank you for taking the time to make these videos Nick. I started with derby but I think they aren't sharp enough for me and kind of tug for me. Took your advice and bought a few from tryablade. Hopefully I can find my perfect match, keep up the good work and big ups from the Caribbean.

Just got into using a safety razor with these blades. I'm very glad to see that other people dislike them too. If these were the only blades on the market, I'd probably go back to electric. I can get close with these on my cheeks, but only because I can go against-grain there without irritation. On my neck I get bleeding and crazy irritation even going with the grain, and barely any hair gets cut. I seriously get a better shave on my neck with a trimmer. Just ordered a blade sampler pack so in a few days I'll see if it's really the blades or if I'm just being stupid and gouging chunks out of my face.

    Great video as always, Nick!
According to Dorco themeselves, there is no difference between the 300's and the 301's except for the packaging, which seems a little weird since they performed so differently for you.

I had gotten a pack of Dorco blades with the Micro Touch safety razor. I used two, and gave the rest away to a barber for use in his shavette. Glad to know it was not just me, I found I either had razor burn or a lot of hairs left every time I used those blades.

Really enjoy these product reviews bro. I used those blades once and threw it away after the first pass. They pulled and tugged like hell on my beard. To me (my opinion) they are the same as Derby blades as far as performance. But like most things in wet shaving it's very subjective. YMMV!
Look forward to more videos bro. Happy Holidays!

Hey Nick, great review as usual. I never miss your reviews and I find your point of views close to my taste. You mentioned that you will review the Gillette Siver Blue next, I am telling you you will love it. They are well balanced for smoothnes and sharpness wise.
I have a little comment about the way you use your soap pucks. You always put hot water before you go into the shower. You should know that the hot water dissolves the good oils from the soap. I know you put it on to your face but you throw the remaining to the sink. At least put it onto a small bowl so you can dip your brush while lathering. Just don't waste it.

I've been wet shaving for a year this month and have tried 10 to 12 different blades and never had an issue with any of them including the Dorco 300. I recently picked up a 5 pack of Van Der Hagen Ice tempered Stainless Steel Blades from Target and have had nothing but issues with them...cut's razor burn all that good stuff. I can't figure out if it's because the blades are too sharp or just not that smooth or both. Curious to see what your take on these blades are.

Hi Nick, great video and review as always.
I just wanted to point one thing out. It will make sence as to the quality differences between the ST -300'S and the ST -301'S.
The 300's are made in Vietnam. The 301'S and the Primes are made in the South Korea factory.
I have also tried all 3 and agree the 300's are a inferior blade.
Thanks for all your help and contributions to the traditional shaving community.

I've been getting hooked on the Dorco blades. Pretty sure the ST-301 and Prime are the same. I've noticed that the Prime Razor set now includes the St-301 blades. And I get a consistent great shave from both
People say they have contacted Dorco U.S. and Dorco Korea who say the 300 and 301 are the same, except for the plastic vs. cardboard box.
Sometimes the 300 seems to me not to be of the same quality. I just compared a Prime and a 300 under my cheapo digital microscope and they appear to be the same.
Would you please do a comparison of the 3 Dorco blades with your microscope which seems to be quit a bit clearer than mine?
Also, I have a suggestion for using the caliper. Put 5 or 10 blades together to get a more accurate measurement. In other words if a blade should be .09mm, 10 will equal .9mm.
Thanks for doing your product reviews.

  • @slavaazriel3993

nice review as always! It's known that Dorco St 300 is much inferior to st 301. Dorco ST 301 is made in Korea and St 300 is made in Vietnam. So the difference in quality is not a wonder. Waiting for your next Silver blue review. Could you please review also Israeli Personna (Red), also Gillette Wilkinson Sword from India, comparing to a German Wilkinson Sword and Shark Super Stainless. You made a review of super chromium, but super stainless is much cheaper (you can find around $6 on ebay) but I'd like to know how is the quality comparing to super chromium. thanks a lot for all your work

I bought too many of these for a nice price (they came in red boxes but they're still ST-300), my second blades ever, did okay for me with a pair of entry level cheap mild (metal) and very mild (plastic w/metal handle) razors, but not true BBS, they never were as satisfactory as the first time I did wet shaving (I used Schick Super Chromium back then). Then one day the plastic razor broke and the metal one started to rust, so I bought another really mild, but far better razor, got some new blades (Treet Platinum) and the results were so delightful I don't feel like using the ST-300 ever again. Maybe once I get a more aggressive razor I'll try again, but I'm stuck with like 8 packets too many.

Stay away!! Those are the blades that came with the Micro Touch One and I have never gotten a good shave with them. Even in my Edwin Jagger DE89

I tried one in my 39c slant razor and they work well in that. I would say they're good training blade for a slant razor, but they suck in most other safety razors.

They are a terrible combination of not sharp *and* not smooth. When I was a poor kid fresh out of high school I bought a micro touch one. I never got out of a shave without razor bumps. I bought a pack of Van Der Hagen blades from a local grocery store (~$2.79 for 20 blades) and even they were an instant improvement in both categories for a few cents extra per blade.

You're gonna try forever to get a smooth shave out of those blades. I have to combined those with my straight razor to get a cheap smooth shave out of them.

Hey Nick get a pair of tweezers and dig that ingrown hair out! At least that's what I do when I get ingrown hairs.

I got a few with a Dorco 602 plastic DE razor. The razor is great: cheap but gives a good shave (my travel razor) but these blades are pretty rubbish tbh. Why scrimp and save on DE blades when even quality blades are cheap compared to cartridges? For what it's worth I find Sharks the best cheap blades.

I just heard that the Dorco St 300's & the Dorco St 301's are the same blade just different packaging but don't quote me on it. I'm just the messenger. Lol

It is easy to assume they are the same blade just different packaging. Even Nick didn't catch that the ST-300's are made in Vietnam. The ST -301'S and Primes are made in there South Korea factory.
I have tried all 3 and there is a noticeable difference I quality from the two factories.

Badger and Blade forum members contacted the manufacturer and they reported back to them that they are in fact the very same blades, just in different packaging. I have used these blades and they do work ok, but there are some better or sharper blades out there.

From personal experience these blades are truly terrible. I get major razor burn every time and I always have patches left. I'd honestly rather use a disposable!

idk, i don't think i can be bothered doing more than 1 pass, lol. I'm lucky if I shave once a week anyway. I'm getting skin irritation just watching this.

Dang, those blades lobstered your face. My guess is that this blade would be good for teens who have peach fuzz or Asians who don't have dense stubble.

Dorco's are the most terrible blades I've ever used, you're lucky urs weren't corroded like mine were. paying 3x more for a high end brand is certainly worth it.

Honestly these Dorco razor blades are really shitty. I had to do a first past with this blade and it left so much stubble and hair behind. I had to finish my second and third pass with my trusty Gillette Silver Blue razors to get a close shave. The sharpness and smoothness of this shave was like night and day. I will never buy or use those raggedy ass Dorco blades again. Complete waste of money my money.
