AP Shave Co, WCS Lithe/Capitan, PAA Gondolier!
Excellent shave! I am really enjoying the WCS Lithe head, a slightly more aggressive shave than the Merkur 34c, but it handles great. Paired with AP Shave Co 24mm SynBad brush, Phoenix Gondolier, and a Feather blade.

shave soaps are a lot of gimmick just like any other product. even more so in capitalist markets. here is a gift from a friend. it beats the hell out of any commercial shave soap. recipe ---> punch the below into Soapcalc after typing how many grams of shave soap you need 1. Stearic acid 40% 2. Shea butter 20% 3. Coconut oil 10% 4. Castor oil 30% 5. Essential oils (Eucalyptus + Peppermint 5ml each) (add these last) Melt everything on very mild heat and mix hot lye (NaOH) solution directly and mix thoroughly Please let me know how it went. I do soap for a living. and corporate is greedy.

I've had mine for 20 years. I bought it my senior year of high school. I have a heavy beard, and I literally couldn't afford to stay clean shaven using a Gilette Ripoff 10,000 Quatro. I did some simple math and realized how quickly it would pay back its higher initial cost. I love my razor. Easily one of the best purchases I've ever made. Maybe THE best. In the past twenty years, I've saved thousands and thousands of dollars. Im sure I'll still have it in another 20 years.

But overall, the lifetime of a blade greatly depends on the quality of it's metal and on how coarse and thick your beard is, and even the quality of your shaving lotion, so there is no right or wrong answer.

I was able to get a total of 34 (thirty four) descent quality shaves out of my single green Astra Russian-made blade, before it finally started to dull down and tugging on my hair instead pf cutting them. Not bad, considering I have a coarse and thick stubble.

The ONLY thing I expect from a great shaving soap is a RICH, STABLE LATHER with HIGH LUBRICITY..and that ARKO DEFINITELY IS! And I don't really care if it smells like shit or not at all, because after shaving I wash my face thoroughly anyway and always apply my favorite Davidoff after shave. Of course, a lot of ARKO opponents have to somehow justify their purchase of overpriced soaps for 50 bucks😂

In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money. Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year. Your Mileage may vary?

I have a genetic predisposition to ingrown hairs and shaving bumps. Two days after shaving my cheeks are full of shaving bumps. My research says it's genetic, a mutation in the hair protein. I have to use the Trimmer, which doesn't shave very well either. I'm really unhappy. The solution is laser treatment. But with my black skin I haven't found a laser for African skin. Hahahaha

Not a fan of feather blades. They leave my skin so dry and irritated. Recently got a new razor so thought I would try again and same result. After buying a verity pack I tested them all in both razors with differing results. Most were ok but the one I liked the most was the Gillette London bridge. 2 passes and a very good finish they are lasting me 5-6 shaves before they start pulling and little to no irritation. Still have 3 feathers maybe will try again if I ever get an adjustable. First razor was a cheap Gillette blue razor and razor blade kit. 2nd razor yaqi tile. I live in south east Asia just can’t get the western brands or razor. If I fly back to the USA or UK I may pick up a Rockwell. The feather is a close shave but not worth the irritation in my view. At 4am when I am just awake I want a forgiving blade that I can use without turning my brain on.

If they made a modernized version of a Tech or NEW LC/SC that was CNC machined it would likely do incredibly well in our little niche that is safety razor shaving. However, it would do horribly overall with most normies being okay with sub-par shaves and post shave irritation from their "cheap" cartridge razor. I imagine this is why they didn't bother making a design and just bought from Muhle. They know the sales figures will not be worth it vs cartridges.

Feathers are the best Safety blades period but you need to master the art of the Safety Razor itself to take full advantage of feather blades they are not forgiving for beginners and take a very light, steady, and delicate hand to perform art with the mighty Feather 🪶 but once it's mastered there's nothing better your face becomes smooth as glass

I've been thinking about getting a Merkur 34C alongside the Feather blades as in my case, my skin is extremely sensitive while my beard is just insanely thick and hard to cut through, especially the goatee area. Not really sure if this is gonna be the best idea, but after years of basically avoiding shaving by only trimming my beard just because shaving is usually an awful experience, I'm really looking forward to trying this out no matter how it goes. I tried using the basic, plastic Wilkinson Sword safety razor with their blades and that never really went too well with not much difference when compared to cartridge razors and I believe it's mainly because none were sharp enough. I'll also try this out with the slickest shaving cream I can find and hope for the best as shaving is something I genuinely enjoyed in my teen years back when my facial hair was a lot thinner, so I'd really like to get back into it.

A decade ago they came with Parker razors and the reviews were terrible so I went 3 years without using them. I finally tried them and boy was I wrong. They are sharp enough but they absolutely shine in the smoothness. I have sensitive skin with coarse hair and shave every 324 days so by the time I shave my hair is already a bit thick. I get 3 close comfortable shaves out of this blade and encourage everyone to try them out. No they are not a sharp as feather but they do not to be. And the value is fantastic I bought a 100 for under $9. I understand that they may not be as sexy as feather or persona or the Gillette blades made in Russia but boy do they perform well
