  • Dorco razor blades are surprisingly close and smooth. Perhaps not as smooth as my favorite blade, Personna Blue. But, Dorco blades are every bit as good as Derby blades and the price cannot be beat!

This blade is why I am a wet shaver. When I started I tried various blades but I either got nicked, cut, or not a great shave. Then I found the Dorco ST-300. It is so forgiving. I have used it in many different razors from a Parker 99 to a Feather Popular and they have never let me down. I shave every day, typically one pass. I get 4 shaves out of a blade. Great review. Thanks.

Thanks, Sheldon.:) These blades are offered at an amazing price! $7.37 for 100 on amazon!

Absolutely unbelievable value! If you use one blade four times (as you do), it's more than a year of shaves at about .02 per shave! wow!
Glad you enjoyed the review.:) Thanks for the kind words.:)

Mark Szorady I actually seated out by importing cartridge razors.. Trying to fight the high cost of shaving. Then I tried wet shaving and there is nothing like it. Take a look at what I do and tell me what you think. Www.30blades.com

Best blades I ever used in conjunction with the blade shaver. Looks like a shaver my Dad or Grandpa used but it opens by twisting the handle and the top opens in a split clam shell. All other "safety razors no matter how many blades, with or without lube strip only clog and are a pain to rinse clean. Just twist the handle and when the Dorco shaver opens, lift the blade out, rinse off both sides and put it back in the shaver. Use a couple of times, put in a new blade. Good idea to have a sharps container for the old blades. I love it, l won't use any thing else. Thanks Dorco. 👍

I'm brand new to wet shaving, and these came with a knock-off of the Merkur Future I just received from Amazon (but wasn't the QShave). This blade was every bit as comfortable as the Harry's cartridge blade I had been using for the last four years. My first experience wet shaving was with a dollar store razor about two months ago (just to try)...it sucked. Then I saw your review on the Cremo shave cream and it was much better. I bought a Parker a month ago and it came with a pack of Derby's. The Derby blade cut me to shreds everywhere. Maybe I needed closed comb, maybe it was the blade, but you're 3-for-3 with your reviews and getting me to switch products Mark! (Blade, cream and the razor itself.)

Thanks, Jim.:) I'm so glad to hear this and that you're open to giving a DE razor and the traditional wet shave a try. Give it some time.:)
These Dorco blades are bargain blades, but yes, I find they give me some really nice shaves. Surprising for the money. I usually toss them after two or three shaves. The Derby blades can be regarded the same. Sorry they didn't work for you, but with blades (and razors, soaps, etc.), as they say, YMMV.:) Try Astra, Personna, Perma-Sharp, Vikings Blade Mild, Derby Premium, Dorco Prime...there are more. In fact, try a blade sampler so you get a nice overview of blades. Any of these will work: amzn.to/33aP4ot (Affiliate link).
The Futur clone you have can be a VERY good razor for the money. I get some nice shaves form mine.:) I bought it just so I can travel with it (if I choose) so i wouldn't need to take the real Futur.:)
I have two Parker razors. the adjustable Variant which I like a lot and their A1R travel razor. One viewer tells me that the A1R and the Parker 94R have the same razor head. If so, you may want to check it out (unless this is the Parker razor that your found to be troublesome). the A1R gives me a really nice, close, efficient shave in two passes.::)
      My reivew is at: czcams.com/video/nxpweHgagY4/video.html
I also traveled with it and that video is at: czcams.com/video/FUtEhTvVxN4/video.html
Also, remember to always use a LIGHT TOUCH when using a safety razor. It took some time for my face and skin to adapt to the wet shave. Remember, you don't have to do three passes. If your shave is decent after two passes, then you're done.:)
I use an alum block for post shave prior to slapping on after shave or balm. It really has helped me. Also, you can use Cremo as a pre-shave if you want to use another and brush to lather with.
HTH.:) And thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it.:)

@@MarkSzorady I literally just ordered a 100 pack of these blades moments before I got the notification of your comment. The Parker I used was one of the new 29-series 2019 models. I was looking to try a butterfly with a longer handle for my first "real" DE razor. I returned it within 24 hours. I started on 2 with my clone, but found myself working up to a three. I was even able to go against the grain on a touch-up pass at the end with absolutely no issue just using water. I think I'm going to like the River Lake clone I got. I know it's the first day, but did the removable head of your Futur or QShave loosen up with more use? Mine was a little difficult on the first use, and I'm attributing that to newness...for now.

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  Před 4 lety

@@JCBluenote24 My Qshave (and Merkur Futur) caps have been rock solid. No loosening at all. So much so, that I never even had ahint that it would loosen up or be a problem.
If you want to replace, AliExpress has a big sale coming up and the QShave is marked down to around five to ten bucks. www.aliexpress.com/item/32791325508.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.d4f93c00px5K4m&mp=1
Also, if you want to try a butterfly razor that is on the mild side, the Chieftain Jr. is a good choice and less than 20 bucks. The regular Chieftain is a bit more aggressive but still neutral.

I use a parker open comb and it does not seem to me to be a very aggressive razor, I never get cut. I think the blades have a lot to do with it, I used to get lots of cuts with feather blades, but the milder ones work better for me, mostly because I have very little facial hair and do a lot more body shaving.

    Thank you for this Mark.
wonder if you could help me out. if you were to compare the below what would you say? I have corase and dense hair and have a bit of sensitive skin sometimes
    Astra green
    Gillette NACET
    Dorco
    Feather
the R41 is a bit of challenge and apparently it is due to my pressure having grown a beard for mostly the past couple of years so my technique got affectted
I noticed I tend to have good resutls with Merkur slant bar and the Dorcos are good for 1 use and if i 2-3 with them i get a bit of necks
I haven't done the conculsion about this theory yet but I am noticing

Just barely readable on the label envelope near your left thumb is seen the word, " *KOREA* ". I have a few blades which came with a new razor several months ago and on the outer paper envelope is shown, "New Platinum ST300, Stainless Blade", and on the back the envelope shows "Made in *China* ". The envelope does not show "Dorco" any where, and the blade itself only the printed "STAINLESS BLADE on it and nothing more.

I used to shave with Gillette's they where like $12 and a box of head like $16... Instead of buying the box of heads i just bought a new razor until i said that it's too dam expensive... At the age of 16 i grabbed my $12 instead of heading to the pharmacy, i went to the beauty supply store, i bought my straight edge, for $3 and i bought 9 cartridges of blades... I thaught my self, a few nicks, but i do not regret nothing, right now iam hitting every edge 4 times a week, well groomed and sharp... And the price of my shave i can probably afford with picking up coins during my daily routine

The expense of cartridge razors really adds up. Like you, folks just need to do the math, do a little research and they'll be rewarded with great affordable shaves!
