Exactly! My gopro 9 would just stop recordimg or over heat! And the battery waas not even depleted!
You can set the Osmo to 4x3 and it's basically almost the same as the 8x9 that GoPro uses. It doesn't crop the sides either, It actually gives you the full readout of the sensor and you actually just get more vertical pixels. When you use 16x9 it crops the top and bottom parts of the sensor. 4x3 on the Osmo gives you the full sensor size if you turn off stabilization.
I just learned about this a few days ago from a very good and informative post in the DJI OA3 forums. The OP even embedded a video explaining the flexibility of shooting in 4:3.
I bought the OA3 Adventure Combo about a couple of months ago and I'm satisfied. I use it for family videos to post in Facebook and they look really nice even i just use the 1080 resolution.
I've been watching all your for about 2-3 years now, one of the first videos I watched was you and Justin surfing with the Mia and Ilima. You've been one of my favourite CZcams to watch, your way of story telling and videos are extremely high quality, and you've inspired/me a lot in my photography, videography, and surf! Great video and wish I had the money to buy the amazing camera. And can't wait for your next video.

i have the original osmo action. I have to say it has been incredible. I have put it through insane conditions and it just keep working flawlessly. When the time comes I will absolutely purchase the latest version of the DJI action. But judging by the way my 1 is working it will probably be the action 9 LOL

Great content! I am in for one. I also just noticed in your A-roll talking head shots your camera keeps hunting for focus resulting in picture "breathing". Sometimes it focused on your eyes and the next second it focused on the picture on the wall.

The quality of image looks pretty good. I’d say DJI is one, if not THE ONE most innovative camera companies those past years, since DJI RONIN 4D. Which makes me wonder a few things. They also make DJI MIC, which the transmitters have a very nice built-in microphone. Wonder if the next Osmo they could include the same microphone as DJI MIC transmitters. And the other thing I wonder is if they would ever make a 360° camera, in the style of Insta360 X series, or RS Twin edition. I think they could do such amazing 3600 camera with their image quality, 10bit D-Cinelike profile, and stabilization.
The 8:9 aspect also is pretty nice idea. Full open gate recording always if possible
I have been using GoPro for years & years. Honestly, I’m sick of GoPro’s non ability to be reliable. The camera shutting off or not turning on at all while I’m vlogging or even when I’m in the water surfing. It kills the flow of capturing content.
I’m leaning heavy towards DJI and their action camera! Just wish they had a vlogging setup with cleaner audio.

@@JacksonLebsack The action 3 still seems to have problems with focus even after the update wish dji were more honest about the problems but i am guessing they have paid you for damage control like some of the other youtubers.
Enjoy it while you're young dude. Before you know it you'll be 70 but like me, I hope you'll still be having fun. I'm bummed that my Action 3 isn't even being shipped till August 18th. I'm wanting it to go kayaking on the French Broad River.

I still don't think its fixed fully its more of a hardware issue that can't fully be fixed because of the focal length of the camera apparently. they just used some sharpener to make it look better.
Nicely done! Thought initially that quesadilla was pancakes…which I was craving! The OA3 seems to offer good video quality with excellent functionality! I wish more folks would vlog on action cameras…tired of the folks walking so slowly…. Stop and talk or walk and talk and use an action camera!
Also can can you let me know if this can be used to make studio camers .. all my need is if its better than gopro as studio camera thats good enough for me
What a fantastic publicity fot DJO Action 3 BUT....14 days ago i bought an OA3 and with new software and there is still a focus problem. Don't tell me the focus problem is solved with the new firmware update. There is a problem with the setting of the lens.

Got the chance of a 6month old OA3 for a good price. Was looking at the insta one rs could be swayed by the OA3. Whats the osmo editing software like.

Been doing tons of research on this one and the new gopro .. watching all these vids and reading reviews .. been reading the osmo 3 has issues leaking in saltwater .. anyone try this out in saltwater that can confirm or deny that it does or doesnt have saltwater issues
Why is everyone promoting them suddenly.. they must pay good. This probably is a good camera but let me just stick with the 11 and maybe they can change my mind on the DJI Osmo 4!

I've seen the rumor that the action 4 is coming out this month... I read tomorrow actually
I just bought this cam after watching all these youtube vids on how great it is.. HOWEVER.... You cannot dl anything to insta, fb, tiky tocky or whats app in 4k. Also the mimo app that you get for your smart phone with this, or the free light cut edditing app will not export in 4k. So, mb its a seperate issue to some, but if I wana use this cam in anything but 1080p garbage, there is a significant barrier that does not seem to be adressed by any of these youtube vids. Can you help? Is adobe pro or another pro software nessasary to get the 4k off of this cam?
Check out cap cut or davinci resolve. It’s free and will definitely accept 4k footage

Why not use 2k and save battery? Most people watch videos on their phones and most phones screens are not 4k rez. Is there any big downside to recording in 2k instead?
Hey man! I’ve found the battery is so good that the sacrifice for quality isn’t worth it. Technically, you’re right, phones aren’t 4k… but the quality of your raw shot will inevitably look worse in 2k

I actually haven’t surfed with it yet, only snowsports this year, but i would just put it on a GoPro mouth mount and buy an after market floaty on Amazon

I had a gopro hero 7 white and it sucked. Zero ease of use, thing was so glitchy it was unusable; a waste of 💰. Dji sounds like the move
People got into DJI to eliminate those expensive extra hardwares that gopro exploits.
for me it wouldn't make sense switching to Dji because i have tons of Gopro acessories and lenses. Also i think the Dji has too much contrast, and not being able to stabilize using gyro info isn't that great, i do my stabilizing all in post using reelsteady.

Only other mode I'd like is something comparable to GoPro's hindsight mode. As a fisherman I'm typically filming for hours with no footage, and it's either hours of wasted footage or with a loop record lots of unused footage. If the osmo action had that, I'd never even use GoPro in my vocabulary anymore
Since 3weeks everyone is promoting this don't fall for this cheap trick camera they die soon and gopro is king in action camera since hero1 to 11

apart from the big exposure jumps when shooting timelapse/hyperlapse, what I don't like the most is the lack of control over burn highlights. hdr is not a good method, especially being limited to 30 fps, even more so in a sports camera. It's in these snow movies that I have trouble watching it because you're driving on a white or almost gray sheet of snow, no detail until there's a strong value that emphasizes those details. It's nice that dji appreciates you, but customers can not write back at all when they have a problem. So hard to decide what to buy.
Hmm interesting take. I’ve seen what your saying… I got some ND filters and it seemed to help when I exposed the scene manually and if anything, shot a bit dark. Either way, all the action cams are getting so good these days it’s really hard to go wrong imo. Just depends on ur priorities 🤷🏽♂️

There has been a recent rash of Osmo 3 videos all of the sudden from CZcamsrs I follow and I know that as least some have said they got the Cameras for free. Because the GP11 and OSMO3 are so comparable, Im on the fence about anyone who gets them for free ,especially when all the extra accessories are free vs not getting the other brands stuff for free. It was a great vid. Very well done. Definitely worth the follow. That being said the GP11 is nearly the end of its cycle and GP12 will be here in a few months. Possibly the Osmo 4 as well?
