    Thank you very much! I am a DIYer, new to (off-grid) well pumps and I very much appreciate your detailed info. It turns out that my start capacitor was bad. After replacing it and cleaning all connections, I have water pumping again! My 1/2hp, 115v, 3 wire Franklin pump and control box are 27yrs old! Bill, Calif. Sierra Nevada mtns.

    Hi again - in the video the lid of the lid of the box is sitting on the counter- it too has some electronic components - but those must not be important cause you didn't mention them either... and did you just say if your colour wires don't match, "you'll just have to figure it out..." humm, hope the shed doesn't burn down.

    I still have the old generation Franklin control box. Where would you connect a float switch. Or alternatively can I just connect it in series in line of my life wire to fill a water tank.

    Hi - did I see you have your ground wire attached to the side of the box which is attached to a wood wall backing. So how is that grounded exactly? Maybe given the water+elctricity thing grounding might be important and you might edit you video to mention it.

    @RCworstwater Can you show how to wire in a shared well? We have a design approved to share a well with 1 pump. Each residence has a 81 gal pressure tank. We need to know how to connect to pump and allow a demand to turn on the well pump. Can you share a video or resource. Thank you

    Can these be used on any pump motor that doesn't have a capacitor start built in? I have a 3/4 horse jet pump motor that doesn't have a capacitor, can I use one of these?

    • @RCworstwater
      @RCworstwater  Před 5 lety +2

      I would recommend you contact the manufacturer of your motor and ask for their recommendation, you need to be sure the capacitors are the correct size.

    Is the control box delivering 3 X 110V phases from one 110V phase?

    • @brucemarmy8500
      @brucemarmy8500 Před 3 lety

      No. 3 phase is the source power in industrial settings only. A 110 volt system will have that one phase of power. A capacitor will prompt the motor to turn in the desired direction, by adding the 'stored' energy from AC on to the 'starter' leg of the pump so as to draw up water, not spin backwards in water.

    Hi RC Worst (Mr. Chris) this is my well pump specification: Myers 2NFL51-8-P4 Submersible Stainless-Steel Pump 8 GPM 0.5 HP 115V 2-Wire 1PH.
    I have BLACK, WHITE and GROUND from the Circuit board. And I have BLACK, WHITE (NOT YELLOW), and RED from the well pump. Well pump is now running fine without a Control Box and wires are connected as (BLACK from circuit board + BLACK from well pump) + (WHITE from circuit board + RED from pump) and (GROUND from circuit board + WHITE from pump).
    I want to setup a Franklin control box. Please help me what type of Control Box I need (What would be HP and Voltage)
    And how can I connect the wires with the control box? Remember: I don't have YELLOW from the pump, mine is white.
    Thank you so very much for the helpful videos on CZcams. Stay Safe! Hoping to get an answer from you soon.

    Really a useless video and a waste of time, rather show how to test the leads of the motor to determine the common, run and start wire, common to start has higher resistance than common to run, I often see burnt out single phase motors because people have no clue how to connect them or how to use a simple multimeter to determine what wire is what. To simply say "if you have different colours you will have to figure out which wire is which" 0:35 without giving even a simple explanation (and it is very simple to do it) is useless.
