    I put a riot shotgun in my safe next to an assault rifle, and NOTHING HAPPENED. Neither one started any riots or assaulted one another. Someone wisely observed that a riot requires more than two participants so, I put 4 more riot shotguns into the safe and since one person can assault something I left the single AR15 in there with the riot shotguns, and added a Mini14, thinking maybe they assault each other, and riot shotguns will riot. NOTHING HAPPENED! Someone said, people can incite others to riot, and 96% of all firearms murders were committed with pistols, not long guns. So with the propensity for a pistol to commit crimes, I put several pistols into the safe, and some hunting rifles, with the riot shotguns, and the assault rifles, so after the riot ensued, those hunting rifles could hunt down the responsible riot shotguns, pistols and assault rifles. I AM STILL WAITING, AND NOTHING IS HAPPENING! Hmm?

      @@Marc1onius Congrats on banning guns. It always feels good to impose your opinion via the armed presence of your police force. I f I may ask though, why aren't you banning alcohol in Germany? That product kills and maims way more people than firearms ever has or will in times of peace in democratic countries. The number of fetal alcohol children born every alone year eclipses those injured through firearms, even if Germany was to allow firearms. So, I wouldn't be too quick to jump up on your soapbox until you're ready to stow away the hypocrisy and apply the logic used to ban firearms to alcohol. That, however, would require you to give up something that you don't need, that kills and maims others, but that you like to use. That's not likely to happen, is it?

    • @ickster23
      @ickster23 Před 5 lety +7

      @@Marc1onius Norbert, I seem to have hit a nerve ,and you’ve assumed I’m against gun control. In fact, I haven’t stated my stance on being pro-gun or anti-gun, so I’m not sure which echo chamber you think I reside in. I’m also unsure how you jumped from my statement on alcohol to side walks, but I think you may have been not have been thinking clearly.
      What I am saying is that alcohol does kill and maim children. This is done through the premeditated act of consuming a product that you know will impair your judgment. If I’m distilling what you are saying, it is guns are designed to kill, and must be banned, but other dangerous items only kill and maim through accidents, so they are OK. Am I getting that right?
      Then why, may I ask, have we banned things like lawn darts? They aren’t designed to kill and maim, but are banned because they accidently did so. And so what if booze isn’t designed to kill. That is irrelevant. Booze kills 2 peoples a day in Canada in drinking and driving accidents, produces 3000+ fetal alcohol babies every year, and is responsible for 23% of all violent crime. Your telling me this is OK because “it wasn’t designed to hurt any one”.
      I stand by my original assumption: you are a hypocrite who, through advocating for booze, cars that do excessive amounts of speed, etc. are condoning the death and injury of children.

    • @youpwnt
      @youpwnt Před 5 lety +7

      @@Marc1onius Why are you lying?
      @ickster23 You really shouldn't listen to him, he obviously has no clue. Germany did not ban guns. We have 5,500,000 guns that are legally owned by 1,500,000 private citicens here in germany. I myself am a legal gun owner from germany.
      You have to jump through quite a bunch of hoops (take a mandatory gun-safety-class, buy a certified gun-safe, prove that you aren't a fellon, pay a bunch of fees, ...), but you can own as many guns as you want in germany. A friend of mine is a gun-collector and he owns over 800 guns. Germany has a HUGE gun sports and hunting culture. Every town has it's own "Schützenverein" - which translates to "shooting club".
      We can own all sorts of guns, like AR15, revolvers and semi-auto handguns, hunting rifles, pump-action shotguns, leveraction-rifles, even sbr's in some cases. Last weekend I shot a semi-auto AK47-clone and a semi-auto 9mm carbine with a 10" barrel at a very nice competition. 150 people competed.
      What we CAN'T do, is carrying the guns outside of our own property, outside the woods or outside of shooting ranges. Only government agencies, like the police, border patrol or customs and private security companies are allowed to carry guns on the streets. If you are a private citicen and you carry a gun outside your private property or a shooting range (or the woods if you are a hunter) you will pay A LOT of money. I'm talking of 11,000$ US and more. You will lose your right to posses firearms and if you were catched more than once, you will go to jail for up to 5 years. So nobody carries here. You also can't posses fireams in order to protect yourself. They are only allowed for hunting and sports - but if someone broke into your house and you are a gun owner, you are legally allowed to protect yourself with your guns. It's called "Notwehr" in germany (and "Recht muss Unrecht nicht weichen"), which is in a sense similar to your "castle-laws" and your "stand your ground laws".
      In addition the 5.5 million legally owned guns, there are over 20,000,000 illegal weapons in private possesion in germany. They are for the most part leftovers from WW2 and the DDR, and a lot of .22LR rifles, which were legal to purchase for everyone prior to 1974 (and basically nobody gave them away when the government made them illegal to have). Allmost every farmer in germany has at least one illegal gun here - but they are almost never used. FUN FACT: If you own an illegal firearm in germany and someone breakes into your house - you are legally allowed to protect yourself with this gun. The police will take the gun from you and you will face charges for illegal possesion of a firearm, but NOT FOR USING IT TO PROTECT YOURSELF.
      As we know now, germany has lot's of guns. More than one gun for every fourth citicen. But we don't shoot each other. The police has to shoot at only 7 to 10 people A YEAR - in whole germay. So, the number of guns can't be the reason for the number of shootings.
      In my opinion it's more likely that the us social security system (or the lack of such) is a big part of the problem. In germany nobody is "really poor". Our system catches you if you fall and gives you at least a roof over your head and money for clothing and food if you lose your job and can't pay your bills. Also, our medical care system is better and nobody has to sell their house in order to pay the hospital bills (95% of all germans never saw a hospital bill in their whole live, literally EVERYTHING is covered by our health-insurance). Another big problem of the US are the drugs and the gangs - which kinda correlate, right? ;) In germany, we don't have a very poor neighbour - but the US has mexico, and they are smuggeling a lot of illegal weapons and drugs into the country.
      Gun bans are proven useless (look at the UK) and they won't fix the problem. If a murderer doesn't have a gun, he takes a knife. I mean, seriously, in the stone age, they busted each others heads with stones.. That's why it's called the stone age. People will always find ways to kill each other if they want to.

    • @aidandruck2423
      @aidandruck2423 Před 6 lety +9

      I find that in trying to bring up a similar point I am given the retort that "then men shouldn't be able to talk about illegalizing 'muh birf contro' (birth control for non Freedom Toons fans) and 'muh abortion' because they don't know what its like to be a woman". For anyone else out there who has experienced this and may read my comment here, this is for you. Don't be confused by their attempt to bring in an unrelated argument. There are a few key differences, the most clear-cut one being that anti-gunners rarely seem to take an interest in educating themselves on the topic and instead like to regurgitate slogans, buzzwords, fallacies, and half-truths that they are spoon fed in their political echo-chamber. In contrast, I would say that most men understand, at least at an intellectual level, the struggle of birthing and raising a child even if they have not experienced it themselves. Slightly muddier, there is also a difference in morality to the argument. There is nothing inherently moral or immoral about owning a firearm any more so than there is in owning a knife, car, pencil, jazz CD, or any other inanimate object. There is a valid, if debatable, argument for the morality of birth control and more specifically abortion not only in legality, but also in the public funding of the aforementioned. It doesn't necessarily take first hand knowledge or even much knowledge of a subject to debate it's morality. I don't need to have a high degree of knowledge about how to kill a man in cold blood to know its immoral to murder. I don't need to have ever robbed a jewelry store to know that theft is immoral. I don't need to have ever had a romantic relationship to know that cheating on one's partner is immoral. I don't need to have ever given birth to argue that killing a fetus before it even has a chance at life is immoral. To some that all may have seemed like nuance, but nuance is important. That's the end of my slightly off topic little rant. Hope it helps someone make a strong coherent argument.

      Aidan Druck - Try as I might, I couldn't follow along. You need to break that LOOOOONG runonsentenceparagraphinto separate paragraphs with punctuation.
      Just a suggestion.

    • @aidandruck2423
      @aidandruck2423 Před 6 lety

      Well I'll take your suggestion on breaking my arguments up into more easily digestible paragraphs in the future. However, I think my punctuation is adequate though it might contain some errors. Particularly with the commas. I sometimes worry about over-punctuating and improper comma placement. As for run-on sentences, I can see one, maybe two that are borderline run-on.
      Since you were kind enough to leave me some constructive criticism and you had trouble following my argument, I'll attempt to increase my clarity. Here goes.
      In attempting to make the same or a similar point to the original comment, I have come across a counter argument that is poorly made. It is to the effect of "you say I shouldn't argue for anti-gun policy because I am not knowledgeable enough. Then men shouldn't argue for anti-birth control/abortion policy because they don't give birth".
      The most clear difference between these two things is in the effort of either side to educate themselves and make good arguments. Anti-gunners frequently substitute actual knowledge and logic with slogans, buzzwords, fallacies, and half-truths. On the other hand, I believe most men understand at some level the hardships of giving birth to and raising a child. They may not have actually experienced childbirth, but they can appreciate just how much of a burden it can be. They understand how raising a child, especially when unprepared, can derail someone's life plans.
      The second and less clear-cut difference is in the argument of morality. There is nothing any more inherently immoral about owning a firearm than there is in owning any inanimate object. In contrast, there is a valid, yet debatable argument to be made for the morality of abortion and birth control. Well, two arguments really. One for the morality of actually terminating a pregnancy and the other for the morality of making taxpayers fund it. My point here is that it does not take the same level of knowledge of a subject to debate its morality. Its not like analyzing statistics, debating the long term results of an action, or even debating the function of something. A person doesn't need to know how to kill to know that murder is wrong. A person doesn't have to have been in a relationship to know that cheating on their partner is wrong. And a person doesn't have to have given birth to argue that killing an unborn fetus is immoral.
      I hope that was a little more clear for you to understand. I don't think I could have broken that up anymore without using sentence fragments or breaking my points up too much. I don't want to make my argument disjointed, you know?

      There's a town, Kennesaw, Georgia, that has a law that mandates, that every household must have at least one firearm for protection. The Kennesaw, law was activated the same day that Morton Grove, Illinois, banned all weapons within the city limits. Violent Crime in Kennesaw, Georgia is almost zero, where violent crime in Morton Grove has flourished since the ban of firearms. Living proof that most criminals will not attempt a home break in, of a home, that has a gun that will KILL them.
      BTW, I live just outside the Kennesaw city limits, so I've seen how effective this law is. Please note that Kennesaw, does not arrest those homeowners that violate the law by not owning a gun. The law just lets criminals know that more than likely a gun is behind every front door of a house they may think about breaking into. This law works extremely well.

    Great Video! Another ignorant statement that I’ve heard on soooo many occasions is that “well the AR-15’s own name states that it’s an assault rifle” when asked what the HELL they are talking about, many don’t know how to answer that because all they are doing is repeating something that they themselves have heard somewhere and instead of taking 5 mins to learn something for themselves and verify what they’ve been told, they just accept it. Others would actually try to have a meaningful debate when asked what the hell they were talking about and would say “of course AR-15’s are assault rifles, what do you think the “AR” stands for?” Smh. Every single person that Ive encountered with this understanding of assault rifles was flabbergasted when I explained that a 5 min research on the matter would have set the record straight a long time ago and explained to them that the inventor of the AR-15 Eugene Stoner worked for Armalite Arms Co and therefore his rifle was named after his company the “A”(Armalite) “R”(Rifle). Why is it that no one seems to understand nor practice the old saying that when we are “told”

      come on now that's a scottsmans fallacy. We know from both anecdotal and philological evidence that MOST people will cool own from a bad temper and reconsider a bad course of action given time. That's why you grab you dumbass drunk friend at the bar when his beer muscles tell him that the huge bodybuilder who accidentally spilled is drink is an easy mark.
      I am severely disappointed in your response about California. I was hoping that some class would prevail and not have anyone gloat simply because of a failure in a system that's otherwise working and point to that as a failure of the system itself. That's like saying that the army was wrong to buy the Abrams tank because rebels destroyed one with an RPG.
      Yes I am intimately aware of the stats. I deal with them everyday. So let me tell you a stat that people don't like. States with the most gun control has the least gun related crimes. So the next statement is no way , look at Chicago. The problem with that is this. If your neighbour has a huge tree your yard will always be full of leaves even if you cut down you own tree.
      The real problem that these kids have are the gun nuts who refuse to admit that guns are a real problem. We can all say till we are blue in the face that people kill people not guns but there is no denying that its PEOPLE with GUNS who kill people. Yes , again I know, knives, cars , blah blah blah. We require that you be trained and licensed and insured in the case of cars (driving is a privilege , blah..) but the analogy is still valid. Gun nuts think that the kids who suffered trauma beyond comprehension are whiners " that they have no clue what they are even fighting for. These kids are just parroting what they've heard from fakestream media".
      When you have a kid who shakes at the thought of going to school, when you find your kid curled up UNDER her bed when she should be asleep, when your son shits himself when you tell him its time to go back to school then you can say they "hey have no clue what they are even fighting for. "
      Look I do not in the least advocate the banning of guns or even the repeal of the second amendment really. I don't think its really necessary or would even be particularly effective. And for all the morons out there talking about the "liberals" want a gun grab the stupidity of such a statement boggles the mind but people still believe it anyway. In my opinion no single action will fix the problem of people , usually young white conservative males, shooting masses of people in confined spaces as a way of solving even minor social and societal differences. (yes again, young black males kill each other at an alarming rate so why is no one talking about that){for the record its been spoken about loudly}
      Background checks, which the NRA opposes , is a great start. Philological evaluations should be a normal part of those background checks. Violent convictions across state lines is also should be a part of these checks. The issue is that these are confidential and doctors cannot report findings unless they feel there is an eminence of immediate violence. Requiring a simple waiting period will not stop gun violence or stop violence per se. What it will do is stop one or two people from killing a few people and that matters when the one or two people are your wife or mother or your kid.

      Nice appeal to authority fallacy. Military service does NOT automatically qualify you as an expert in any way. I am NOT talking out of my ass. Whether you have heard the term used in the military is irrelevant. The term "assault rifle" DOES exist in firearms nomenclature. It is NOT a political term, nor a liberal attempt to relabel something. You are quite clearly conflating "assault RIFLE" with "assault WEAPON," two entirely different terms. "Assault rifle" has existed as a term since the mid-40s, starting with the German Sturmgewehr 44, which means "assault rifle" in German. Even the M-16 is classified as an assault rifle - the U.S. government officially classifies it as "Rifle, M-16," but it IS an assault rifle, even if not officially labelled as such, as it meets all the requirements of an assault rifle. "Assault weapon" is the political term, referring to a semi-automatic firearm with any of a number of cosmetic features that allegedly make it more popular with criminals. I suggest you educate yourself on proper nomenclature, so as to avoid making an ass out of yourself in the future. And stop assuming your military service makes you an expert.

      I literally handed you the definitions of both an assault rifle and an assault weapon, and you are still trying to argue your point. I am going to guess that you did not read them. The term "assault rifle" does NOT need to exist in military parlance for the term to be recognized in firearms nomenclature. Just because the M-16 is listed in Army inventories as "Rifle, M-16," and not "Assault Rifle, M-16," likewise does not discount its use in firearms nomenclature. It has been a documented APOLITICAL term since 1945. It is NOT misused except in political circles, and then only by people who do not know what the term actually means. If it were not a recognized term in firearms nomenclature, Congress would not have used it, quite specifically, in the Hughes Amendment to FICO. Once again, you have demonstrated your commplete ignorance in the face of evidence and reasoned argument. The only one getting his ass handed to him is you, by a civilian who has spent literally his entire life surrounded by guns.

      The only thing you handed me was a victory, while only further proving your own ignorance. Reason first, I provided a link that proved my assertion regarding assault rifles. You have offered no supporting evidence for your rebuttal other than personal experience, which is only anecdotal and is not considered academically credible. Reason the second, you insist that "assault rifle" is a political term, but have not provided evidence to support that claim. Meanwhile, I have also provided a link to the definition of "assault weapon," which also supports my claim to its political origin. Reason the third, a firearm's classification is not dependent on any military's official adoption of the term, but rather based entirely on whether or not it fits a list of specific, objective criteria. You seem to have a hard time grasping the idea that the military does not always define how things are classified. Whether you care to admit it or not, you are wrong. As you keep making verifiably false assertions, I can only surmise you did not look into the links I provided. Regardless, the fact remains that "assault rifle" is a purebred stallion, while "assault weapon" is the mythical unicorn.

Fallschirmjaeger is the German term for paratroopers. Gewehr is German for "rifle". By the way, the AR in AR-15 stands for "ARmalite", not Armalite Rifle or Assault Rifle.

    Actually, machine guns weren’t “banned” in 1986, they were regulated in 1934 along with “destructive devices”, where they needed to be registered with the Dept. of the Treasury and a $200 fee for machine guns and $5 for destructive devices (ie grenades).
    In 1968 MGs and DDs, as well as Carbine Rifles and Sawn Off Shotguns (barrels under 18 inches and overall length under 26 inches), silencers, and gas masks were banned under the Gun Control Act which also banned purchasing a gun outside of your own state of residence.
    In 1986 all of those items were re-legalized under Ronald Reagan with the Firearm Owner Protection Act allowing citizens to own those items again, provided their resident state doesn’t prohibit possession of them, they are not prohibited from possessing any firearms, they must register them with the Dept. of the Treasury and pay the fees. Anyone selling or making those items must have an FFL and an M3 license, provided their resident State doesn’t prohibit it.

      Exactly, the .223 is very popular with varmint hunters and ranchers. The lightweight design of the AR makes it easier to tote around for long periods, than its bolt action counterpart and the gas operation reduces recoil significantly. It's great for protecting livestock from wolves, dingos, etc. I wouldn't trust it with an angry bear though, or a large elk. As far as normal one on one murders are concerned, statistics show that if a person owns a gun for self defense, there is a 43 times greater chance he will use it to commit suicide or murder someone himself than shoot an assailant. There is also the problem of children finding it and killing themselves or someone else. My own father kept a 25 caliber pistol under his mattress. A girlfriend of my sister found it and pointed it at my sister. She started screaming her head head off, and my mom ran into the room before the girl pulled the trigger and snatched it from her. It might have been on safety though and possibly didn't have a round chambered, but I'll never know. I'm not really an anti gun freak. I've owned several including a Daewoo assault rifle. But, if more lives would be saved without them than with, who I'm I to argue they all shouldn't be banned? Most countries do you know.

    Former Green Beret special forces soldiers here...Forget most everything you heard in this video...
    There is only One thing that (Turns) a rifle into an Assault Rifle...
    The rifle Must have an Apparatus near the end of the barrel so that a Bayonet can be mounted...
    1. You either are shooting combatants with your rifle... or
    2. You mount the bayonet in order to charge at the enemy to assault and impale them....sometimes doing both.
    The Rifle only Becomes an Assault Rifle when you are Charging them to impale them with the Bayonet...
    The First Assault rifles were used before and during Revolutionary War when they mounted their Bayonets onto their Musket long guns....
    What makes a true (Assault Riffle)has Nothing to do with ::
    1. The color
    2. The shape or appearance...long or short
    3. Semi or full auto
    4. Magazine or not
    5. How many rounds it will hold
    Assault Rifles have been used in every war or conflict...
    During WW1,Soldiers used their rifles to assault the enemy with their Bayonets on a daily basis.The Marines did as well in the Pacific islands during WW11.
    Before there was gunpowder,soldiers were assaulting one another with Spears....think about that...
    One last thing....The AK-47 was originally designed for mainly one purpose,it was a weapon to be used in close quarters combat in urban warfare (town and villages). The long range guns were big,long and heavy to shoot in street fighting around corners,tight places in side of buildings and rooms and ally ways...that's it...

      Tactical rifle does make more sense and provokes no insult to my mind. I've known for decades that the AR- 15 was a repeater gun, not an automatic one. The biggest thing looming in our populace, to me anyway, is the "sex appeal" kind of thing where in the dark minds of some who would carry out demonic acts on other citizens, venture to the AR's and the likes because they were designed for the express purpose of killing people. That's the attraction, no matter what labels they put on those guns, they are in the family of military grade and ill informed politicians are muddying the case to discuss this further with poor understandings.

    • @scottdunn2178

      @@whalesong999 Actually, you should be insulted... that's the whole point of my post: the fact that their propaganda campaigns are insinuating that the exact same rifle in a citizens hands is an evil "assault rifle" who's only purpose is to kill... but in the hands of police, suddenly that exact same AR15 is a righteous "tactical rifle". Bullshit. And a semi-auto-only AR is anything but "military grade"... that was the whole point of Colt releasing the original SP-1 AR15 back in the 1960's.- Was that it was a civilian grade weapon capable of semi-auto-only fire, and only "looked" like it's true "military grade" full-auto capable counterpart... the M-16. Any soldier or mercenary would laugh at you if you suggested they take a semi-auto-only rifle into a combat arena.

    • @neinnein2669
      @neinnein2669 Před 5 lety

      canada equips its soldiers with semi-auto rifles (ar-15 coincidentally). the reasoning is that it saves ammo and makes them aim more carefully before pulling the trigger. kind of works for them. :)
      however, full auto is not for hitting anyone, since that almost never happens anyways. full auto is for making a lot of noise in order to scare the opponent and drive them to duck, which at the same time prevents them from aiming at you : this improves your chances for survival.
      this happens in particular when you storm an enemy base (hence the name 'sturmgewehr'), and when you have to immediately react to a sudden attack on you, which is why security personnel carries submachine guns. same goes for any civilian who has to live in or make it through inner-city drive-by shooting infested areas. which is why there is absolutely no justification to banning civilian ownership of machine guns - self-defense is legal.
      the 2A is about preventing any minority from ruling overbthe majority, be it the street corner gangster ruling over his victims, or a government refusing to obey its people.
      this obviously requires keeping and bearing the most capable arms available at any one time, and be it tanks, fighter aircraft, or light sabers.

    The first M-16s went to the Air Force to replace the M-1 carbine used by Air Police. I was taught in the military that a so called Assault rifle had to have 3 things. 1. Fires a substandard cartridge. Example the 7.92x33mm vs the full service round the 7.92x57mm. 2. Must be capable of "selective fire" that is a switch for semi vs full auto. 3. Have a barrel 24 inches or longer, if shorter it's a carbine. The M-16 is a carbine. The latest version of the M-16 does not have full auto capability, rather because of massive waste of ammo in Viet Nam the newest version has only 3 shot per trigger pull.
