I completely agree with you. I think instead of getting so many new packs, we should start really focusing on refreshes of old packs where they not only expand on the features but also improve the world's. For example, make them at least open neighborhoods. I get why it's difficult to do open world but open neighborhoods seem verry possible to me. On top of this they can refresh some of the useless lots and give us something to do with them and maybe even open some of them up to being built on.
The problem is that they know they can't charge us for this so they are doing it less, but they made a promise that we would get refreshes and we as simmers need to hold them to that promise.
Even if they decide to still don one expansion pack a year and instead of us gettin ng a second one, we get a refresh I would be happy. As long as both aren't rushed out and have boring gameplay

    • @HerHollyness

I think pack refreshes was an idea they trialled to see if it would bring in any more money. They tested it with Spa Day, a low seller, to see if any new customers would buy the pack afterwards. I’m guessing not enough did as they haven’t done any other pack refreshes since - haven’t even mentioned it. It’s not happening again as it doesn’t bring them money.

It took them 9 years to add a cinema rabbit hole (in a DLC). They still don't have grocery stores, only a bunch of stalls! Instead of actual locations as rabbit holes (bookstores, city halls, clothing stores, subways OR spas, hospitals, diners, police departments, science laboratories, gypsy wagons, schools- but THATS going a little too close to DLC territory..), some options are accessible either as objects in your own home or by phone/computer. There should be more options to disappear to by phone though, so that we at least could play pretend but..

Discovering the tunnels, digging for unique artifacts, both the pack bases, secret clubhouse, Greg, sparring grounds, etc. The only issue is that you have to be a werewolf to take full advantage. I feel like townhouses and semi detached houses that are so common in the U.K. and Europe could be easily achieved in a number of ways.
One good way would be giving us the chance to manually place lots again, and to be able to set the size of the lot by dragging, in the same way we can do it with walls etc.
using this way, you could build your town house then shrink the size of the lot around it, leaving no room to the sides and an area at the back for the garden. Then if you place another lot directly next to it you could do the same thing again. It would be great for recreating those mismatched terraces we often have with tiny little cottage ones with really short walls next to Victorian terraced villas. It would allow us to be so creative .

My favorite worlds in the Sims 4 are San Myshuno, Windenburg, and Moonwood Mill. Windenburg is just sexy and has a lot of lots. Moonwood Mill feels like a semi-open world in that you can travel through bunkers, visit the werewolf pack hangouts, hang out in the werewolf bunker (especially perfect if you're playing as a homeless werewolf), and also visit Greg and doesnt require traveling to different lots to interact with this stuff. Werewolves in general is one of the best packs we've got imo it has really fun gameplay. San Myshuno feels more alive than most of the worlds because you get tourists and visitors and there's more to interact with in the world. I tend to live in San Myshuno the most in my playthroughs. Also, San Myshuno has 2 other rooftop penthouses!

I love newcrest. Building there right now. There is so many options. Also it’s easy to fill up. Go to the galley/ get cc houses/businesses, then Put your businesses to the right 5 space. Then just put galley houses in all the other spaces. You could turn the big ones into some kind of park center or something. I build me a giant house on the big lot. 4 stories with a usable roof, and it takes up almost all the lot though I do wish I had an elevator though. Then once it’s full if you love all the building you can either keep them all or slowly change things/houses/what kind of building you have on a lot. You could literally just turn the whole thing into businesses if you wanted. If you see the map of sims 4 everything is like all together so you could literally have all the worlds have houses and have newcrest as like the mall. Then that would give you 15 buisness options. You could even get 1 from the galley then change it up some. So many options. Then places like magnolia can have the retail. If I was a TS4 player I would gravitate to Forgotten Hollows and Moonwood Mills (after editing them with the World Edit mod). I like their dark forestry vibes. So they are a good base to work on.
Honestly watching this video made me appreaciate TS3 even more. All those places that look pretty but are either just deco or nothing to do in them (and without the possibility to edit the worlds without mods) is so off putting.
I'm surprised EA didn't give TS4 players a world editor like they did for TS3. I mean they must use some kind of tool to make the worlds.

You know, I have to ask sometimes, what happened to the builders on the Sims team? Sims 3 had some really cool builds and the worlds has lots of stuff in it, so what happened? Did they fire all the people who built in Sims 3?

Gotta say that unpopular opinion is Oasis Springs is one of my favorites, imo it's a hidden gem. It's versatile unlike Willow Creek. It has a lot of collectables and fun for scavenger sims. It's also pretty beautiful with many inspiring spots to take pictures of. One of my favorite places is the little picnic place near the gym, it's a pretty little place for family bbq hang out. And few nice finishing spots.
In general my favorite places are from Get Together and Cats and Dogs. I don't have Strangerville because i don't care about the story line, but the world is interesting to me. That's something i would like to have my sim live in.

In New York, in the upper manhattan section and in the northern parts of the Bronx there are a few randomly placed centuries old houses that are gated around its surrounded landscape, similar to the random old house in San Myshuno. This also seems out of place for these neighborhoods that are surrounded by tenement buildings, busy subway lines, and many commercial areas. Idk if the sims team intended on it but it’s def an accurate take on a modern city, at least from my perspective and lived experience! Love your vids man!

I’ve thought of a few ideas that EA could do to add more gameplay,
Have mazes as a rabbit hole and there’s a 30% chance that your sim will get lost and then you could send another sim in to get them and if they don’t find the lost sim within 5 sim days then they could get a moodlet saying “possibly dead…?” Or smth and then they could go and find this special sim who knows all and he/she will tell them what’s happened to the lost sim
In outdoor retreat they could add a thing where you can go on a walk/cycle (if u have the packs with bikes) and then your sim could get ‘mauled by bear’ and they could either die or have to go to the hospital to get their wounds treated before they get infected and die
With parenthood they could add periods or excessive body odour. That could occur and if your sim doesn’t shower and put deodorant on then they could get made fun of at school and get a sad moodlet
In horse ranch they could have added a way for your horses to get sick, like cats and dogs, but they could also make the horses go ‘feral’ and they buck and kick you and stuff. They could also do that with cats and dogs, they could bite and hiss at you.
With my first pets stuff , if you also have cats and dogs then your cat could get into the hamster cage and k!ll the hamster
With any of the occult worlds then they could have a catacomb under it and there’s loads of secrets and lore and it basically leads you to find a sim who could give you something that you could either befriend and get something from or get k!lled by
With growing together they could add something for elders (or any other sim) where they slowly loose their hearing overtime and need the hearing aid from cas
With any desert world they could add a ‘sand storm’ that happens from time to time. And they could make it so the winter isn’t as cold and it doesn’t really snow and stuff. And the sand storm could make litter blow about and you could find out secrets that could lead you to a pyramid type thing where you could find a tombstone which is where an important dead person was buried and you have to go to their family and find out how the died either by asking the sim or snooping in their house
With island living they could make it so you could get a pet fish. Or fin-rot and if it’s not fixed then it could turn your mermaid evil or something
With eco lifestyle they could add barrels of oil and if you wanted to make the environment worse then you could knock them over and it would poison the earth so you couldn’t grow crops and the water so you get a dazed moodlet from showering and become ill if you drank it. But if you want to make the environment better then you could protest against oil (it wouldn’t do a lot since we don’t have cars but it could do something)
With for rent you could have a water leakage and it can leak into other sims apartments that are next to you or below you and it could cause mould

Honestly I wish the sims team would stop giving us a new world with every single expansion pack/game pack and would rather make the worlds we already have better. I am not expecting anything big like open world or anything, but it would be nice to have more to do in the worlds. Using so much set dressing in the worlds (San Sequoia is a perfect example) is such a disappointment. Rabbit holes would be so much better than set dressing. Not to mention how annoying it is that the exact same sims are everywhere, no matter where I send my sims to.

  • @hottatgirl

That celebrity neighborhood in get famous gives me Hollywood Hills vibes. Without the hills bc sims. If you’ve played GTA5, it’s the same neighborhood Franklin moves to. And tbf, there’s only like 3 major venues on Sunset boulevard and one is impossible to build, bc hills. Seems like that neighborhood is a mix between Sunset (the street where the bars are) and Hollywood boulevard (where the stars on the sidewalk are). But literally none of it is exclusive irl, I don’t understand why they did that. I also don’t understand the museum, they should have put the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, that would have made way more sense. Sorry, get famous is my most hated world so I took the opportunity to complain 😂

Willow Creek and Oasis Springs are good for starter homes if you don’t use mods or cheats to give yourself more money in the beginning. Windenburg, Henford, The Cat’s and dog’s world are good for family gameplay. I wish Forgotten Hollow ,Moonwood Mill, and Glimmerbrook were bigger. Del Sol Valley sucks just like Hollywood. Sulani is pretty, but that’s it the marine biologist career is broken. Brightchester is too small as well. Komorebi is also too small and the gameplay is shallow as someone who likes that world. I don’t have a lot of the newer worlds, but I imagine it’s like all the other worlds pretty, but absolutely empty and shallow.
