    I never considered this very much as a white person, thanks for sharing. I like your analogy about the LGBTQ+++ whatever though, as a lesbian, it weirds me out when a person refers to me specifically as "LGBT". Like most of those letters don't apply to me, either get to know me as an individual, or just don't mention this "identity" related crap. It also implies allegiance with a specific political identity, for example with trans issues, which many of us who just happen to be same sex attracted are not on board with. Perhaps it's the same with "BIPOC", it forces people of different races to align with a far left social/political movement that they might have nothing to do with. I find it so hilarious that 98% percent of Latinos hate the word "Latinx", but the woke continue to use it anyways! It's not about showing people respect, otherwise they would stop using a word that offends people, it's about signaling political affiliation and bragging about how they're more up to date on the most current language that was invented 30 seconds ago on some college campus.

    • @ImAwesomeYouTooo
      @ImAwesomeYouTooo Před rokem

      The word "Latinx" is redundant. You can tell the word "Latinx" was probably made up by a non-spanish speaking person, because the word Latino already takes into account everyone that is Latino. Apparently the "woke" population seem to have an empty space where a brain should be.

    • @DatAsianGuy
      @DatAsianGuy Před rokem +12

      the LGBT community in itself has an issue, were they pretend they all stand united, but realistically speaking most of them have such vastly different views, that the only reason why they came together was because they were "outcasts" of society... except.. now the LGB part hasn't been really been seen as outcasts for what? a good 20 years now, I think.
      the only outcast of society, if you want to stretch it that far is the trans part of the community and even then you could have a strong argument that society/the left political part of society is bending backwards to make them feel included and save. and considering it's really only the T part of the LGBT community that makes headlines.
      I have not met anyone in my life that is genuinely actively homophobic in my 23 years of living in my country (not from the US)

    • @rachelmaddowswife8713
      @rachelmaddowswife8713 Před rokem +16

      @@DatAsianGuy Every gay and lesbian I know stopped doing "gay" related political activism as soon as we got the right to marry, which was actually less than 10 years ago in a lot of the country. When I married my wife, it had just become legal in our state but was not federally recognized. Homophobia exists, but it's not a political issue anymore. Everyone over the age of 23 (except the real weirdos) stopped going to pride parades too.
      Trans activists are the only ones claiming to do "LGBT" activism now because they're trying to ride in on our coattails. They understand that the majority of the country now supports gay equal rights, so they're trying to shoehorn their way in, knowing that their arguments can't stand on their own merits. The vast, vast majority of the country doesn't want males in women's prisons or sports teams, and doesn't want children castrated. It's an extremely unpalatable agenda. They captured leftist politicians by using the guilt that they feel from not embracing gay marriage sooner. They've also been crafty about taking control of key social media platforms like reddit to squash dissent and honest discussion.

    Linguistically speaking, “Person of Color” is indirect speech. And it is the same as it’s reciprocal -“colored person”, which is direct speech.
    More examples:
    “The strength of Aba” is the same as saying “Aba’s strength”
    “The frustration of Preach” is the same as “Preach’s frustration”
    Direct and Indirect speech.
    For further clarification: the use of this term is the same, regressing to a time when blacks were called “ colored person”, which is a racist term. So these damn wokists are using racist terms to address non-white people. This is not even covert racism anymore. It is just blatant. These damn hypocrites.
    This is the problem.

The way that Aba described the term "People of Color" is in fact how it is used here in the US.
      To illustrate my point the term, "colored person" is now considered outdated and pejorative, but the term "people of color" is considered inclusive and respectful by most official sources.

    BUT, I think a lot of people don’t understand that dating/serious relationships can get difficult with cultural differences.
    For instance, I likely won’t fall deeply in love with or even seriously date someone from Japan or Norway or Uganda or Ukraine. Why?
    Well, because I’m American and there’s going to be deeply ingrained cultural differences that will result in us just not understanding/relating to things about the other.
    I would never count it out but it’s just not as likely. Even with the US, there’s subcultural differences that may pull people apart.
    I’ve never really understood people who have barriers to attraction on racial lines, but I guess I understand dating preferences because sometimes the cultural factor plays into it. I’ve just never really seen that as a huge barrier in my experience

However on the other side of the coin that's why statistically black men are viewed as very attractive because of those same masculine features.

The mother than said verbatim “we don’t say black, we say coloured people”. I thought (at 10 years old, 2012/2010) that’s worse than saying this thing or any slur lmao it was so odd to me even as a young child because I’ve always hear people say it was controversial to call someone black and others say it’s fine.
    A lot of the times race groups stick together because the culture is so different between races, I find that black people and white people are a lot alike growing up and tend to believe the same religion in Canada and america. Where I work I’m the only white person and only women, I work with Indian men, a couple of them asked me out and I’ve asked them if they would ever marry a white girl and they say no. A lot of races and cultures have misconceptions about each other and whether it’s the exception or the rule I don’t really think matters. I don’t really think that is a problem because who knows if it will be different in the future(in North America).

      If you are born in America or Canada it’s very different since we are very open to different cultures ( more Canada). On the opposite side of that I've also heard people say that if you have a racial preference in dating at all, that you are racist. It's all crazy to me. Date who you want to date, love who you love. Having a preference is not racist. If you have a preference and you only want to date within your race, that's fine, as long as you don't look at another black person and think they're somehow "less black" because they are dating a white person, that goes for any race, but I've noticed that black people do it a lot.

    People are entitled to their preferences of course, but I do think that if we take the time to analyze those preferences, some of them will start to fall apart. I used to tell myself that whatever happens, I'm going to marry a brunette. I didn't know exactly why I held this preference, but later in life I was given the opportunity to explore it. And as I examined my inclinations I realized that some of my favorite female characters in TV and film were brunettes, and they embodied traits that I found uniquely attractive. I found that I was associating those traits with the hair color, when in reality those traits are universal, and can be found in anybody regardless of the color of their hair. I think the same can be said for many "racial" preferences as well. I think we are attracted to our *_perceptions_* of those races, when in reality, the traits we desire can be found in a wide variety of ethnicities. Again, we all have our preferences, and we are all entitled to them, but I don't think that means we shouldn't explore *_why_* we hold those preferences, and earnestly seek to determine if we aren't holding ourselves back by limiting our own dating pools.

      I think I'm probably an actual racist, or have some deep racial biases at least. I'm a white Australian guy and I find all ethnicities of people attractive *except* Aboriginal Australian women. Black, Asian, White, Latin, Indigenous American, Arab, etc. There are hot women from every part of the world but I've just never seen an Aboriginal woman I found physically attractive unless they were only like 5%. If I met a beautiful Aboriginal woman I wouldn't exclude her due to my bias but it'd be weird if I ever had to explain why I don't find 99.999% of people with her ethnicity attractive at all.

      People aren’t born with racial preferences… Race is a social construction so if you have a racial preference then you have a social reason for it. I’m not saying that there’s necessarily a problem with it but I just am pointing out that it’s not natural to have racial preferences but something completely dependent on your socialization in the society that you live in and unfortunately people that just think it’s “anti-SJW” to embrace their racial preferences never actually reflect on why they have them in the first place but just want to “own the Libs” or be against what they consider to be progressive ideas or whatever dumb stuff like that. I’m not gonna say either that there aren’t people that will hound others for having racial preferences which can cause such a reactionary response(I mean that in both terms of the word), but just having a racial preference doesn’t come from nowhere and unfortunately I feel like people don’t take the time to analyze why they feel a certain way.

    I had this discussion last night. If you're going to care about identity at all, it's probably best to identify with your cultural genealogy. Where I'm from there's a distinction in the black community between those who's families recently migrated from Africa, those who recently migrated from Haiti, those who recently migrated from Jamaica, or Trinidad, or any other island. My grandparents come from the Deep South and their roots grew from slavery. The culture they grew up in coming from Georgia and Alabama is very different than the cultures of the places I previously mentioned which is also very different than the dark complected Dominicans and Hondurans and people who come from South American, or latin carribean cultures. And I would assume that those with African heritage in European and even Asian countries would have very different cultural identities as well. We're all very different so either view everyone as human or acknowledge cultural differences down to the T. This whole everyone against white people shit is weird because there are white cultures that are extremely different from one another as well. Being an Hasidic Jewish in Brooklyn, or an Irish in Boston, or a having French heritage and living in Louisiana, or being of Northern European decent and living in Cali are all going to provide very different cultural experiences. Another great example is thinking all Indians are the same when there's an entire cast system there. Peoples stories are way too complex for this POC bullshit.
