Hera was constantly on the backfoot when he needed to take initiative. Good HRE game - haven't seen many before.
Once someone goes handcannons you're forced to match them I've found in my games. Once a mass is built nothing stands up to them except hand cannons and your own mangos
@@lucaxtshotting2378 No shot dude, look at hcannons hp they are insanely tanky considering their dps only thing that counters them is getting a triple mago shot into the center mass otherwise with even a trickle of spears and seige support they will melt anything
only english archers counters handcanonier mass , other civ must do mangos ... ralbequin is not an options cuz of its small range
I find it beautiful. Late game handcannons just destroy everything, like they did eventually in history. I find it appropiate that they are so powerful, just like mass cannons and buldings. Castles became obsolete against late medieval artillery.
@@lucaxtshotting2378 true but longbowmen are a lot cheaper - 90 resources vs 240 - and of course longbowmen don't need gold which is an advantage in itself. Longbowmen also outrange hand cannoneers.
It isn't a perfect counter at all, of course, but the English can churn them out really really fast.

Something about watching late game battles is beautiful. Because there is so much each Civ can do.

The coat over the horse is called a caparison. It's like the gambeson for the horse.
I love these more late-game games. And Sacret Sites are one of the best additions to the game to the game in my opinion. Really pushes players to meet in the middle at some key location and throw everything they got.
That reference to Indeed Holy, indeed Roman and indeed an Empire... only true elites would understand.

Hera sitting on 3k gold and not make a push into the middle hurt me physically.
I have seen a lot of Mongol players fall into that trap. If you have the Silver tree you should be pushing like there is no tomorrow. Once Leenock took the middle it was game over.
And he shouldn't have put so much into his mangudai. They are such a terrible unit, the moment he saved his trade line, he should have went full Lancer and counter pushed

Funny you should say "so you're not gonna see those cracks [in the mountain leading to the middle] anymore" because I got exactly that today on my second ever game of french pass
The over commitment to Mangudai, and lack of offensive pressure, lost it for Hera.
The moment he preserved his trade line, he should have switch over to full Lancer and counter attacked. Mangudai are terrible units with a very narrow window where they can be useful.
The only Option Hera had was to switch to the other site. Dude had an unbeatable amount of culverins, a handcannon ball and mangonels xd, nothing can deal with that except mb chinese very late game. However he kept trying going wich was not great. Leenok macro and economy was not perfect however on a strategy level he was 3 steps ahead it looks like :). Very promising for the future of this game.

I dun understand why hre player never garrison extra relic in forward keep and build town center around them . He could have use the emergency repair to heal the keep instead of repairing with villager
That's great in theory but might be tricky to pull off, depending on the level of play it is pulled, the map, and opponent's aggressiveness, since it's a lot of investment made into static buildings.
The late game comp for HRE is Xbow+M@A/spears, 3 mangonels, and a culverin or two to defend the mangonels and kill enemy mangonels. the culverin is such a powerful late game unit.
Abbasid feels kinda similar to Zerg too. Source: I'm Abbasid and Zerg-player :D. Lead in economy, scout and counter what the enemy has and overwhelm him.
Bruh, current abbasid gameplay is nothing like you said. Just build mass mangonels + spearman like braindead. You are not lead in eco unless you build 2 more tc which is really hard if you not playing at a big map.
I was about surprised to hear Chinese were the Zerg. I found them thematically at least Protoss like. I played Zerg and I love Mongols and Abbasid. Mongols though I guess, dare I say it, might be Terran lol.
Can't help myself, gonna be that guy. The Holy Roman Empire was Germany mostly almost no italy/Rome at all lol
Actually, it did contain a good amount of Italy in the early days. Granted, it was always rebelling, but what can yea do.

HERA had soo much stone, form memory if you build the Monastery and research a tech that allows it to act like an Ovoo (IV age) then you can make many Monastaries and x2 build your amy, basically many Ovoos
Hera could've trashed him when he had 20 villagers repairing that castle. One push with lancers.
Hi im a low rank player who struggles vs people who tutle with HRE what is a good tactic?
Depends on your civ and the map but early pressure and denying relics is what I'd instinctively do

As a low level HRE main I don't quite understand why pros don't go for more m@a or landsknecht plays.. Especially against mass archers man at arms do really good.. What am I missing?
they are slow and from archers the opponent can just swap to crossbows and they melt MAA but the main problem is that they are slow... im sititn at 1400 elo atm.. and when im playing hre i mostly go mass elite knights with siege and handcannons.. dno.. maa are wierd to use.. they also bloob up and mangonels just take them down
I mean he originally used crossbows to fight mangudai since it doesn't cost wood and he need them for siege
MAA is good for spam if you high on food but they aren't the brightest when mangonel come in
Early game is mostly horseman raids and anti-horseman defences with their APM. Since they can easily micro the horseman out an MAA fight, MAA can't catch them.
In late game MAA only serves as a meat shield, where a knight works both as a meat shield and can also do damage. Against mass archers you would want to go siege rather than MAA.
Also, the current meta relies on professional scout with mass scout into fast imperial, and the only counter to mass scout is horseman/knight, which a reasonable player will do. You can't really defend the scout with spears or MAA, so you will have to go horseman too.

oh my lord, are you kidding me? Mongols get 13 range springalds too? i swear, the more i learn about that civ, it feels like they get everyone's tricks
Mongols is not the best pick for this map. I played 3-4 match with mongols on this map and it was really hard. The base spawn is far away from enemy and they can easily go with their eco boom while your base constantly open for raids.
