Kasva had that.
When you have such an army of mmA, you can't be scared to dive deep into the enemy base. He coulda easily gotten 1 mma to start attacking random villies.
Also, Kasva saw that he was building Archery ranges in the back and didnt storm that area. He was content with killing a few buildings. It's like all that push and he didnt really force villies off gathers or kill any. He just killed a few buildings with that push.......Okay?
Kasva had that and after his 1st pushed got stopped the game was instantly over for him as you can see in the Score. If you're going for these proxy pushes, you have GOT to commit. (Where was the steady stream of additional units to Flood in China's base? He made a few mmA and said "ok go guys, I won't send reinforcements even though I have a close base."
Totally agree. Kasva had it. He didn't see the archery ranges though, Aussie saw them. But yeah, a little bit of reinforcements instead of useless, defenseless mangonels, would be a win.
Or building defensive positions and fortifying mid map while booming during his proxy push... But instead he builds 10 widely spaced towers and doesn't mine any resources.. Then tries building military bases which are tiles away from enemy LOS... Wtf.
Its almost like he panicked hard af when the enemy didnt ff at the sight of his men at arms then had no idea what to do for the rest of the game

I wholeheartedly agree with you, the game is so much fun. Team games, 1v1, skirmish, campaign (I even like water maps, I know it's heresy).
I hope the meta does continue to evolve over time and we begin to see more unique strategies
The chinese siege artillery is indeed something else, naming all the bonuses is a very long proccess. The key to beating them seems to going for large push right on the castle age up mark, with a little better exectution and bigger commit from kassva i think he had that. Kill it before it lays bees!
He should have mixed is army up. He could have made archers and horsemen for the push.
Kasva should have gone up to the farms and killed villagers with the MAAs... not destroying cheap buildings

That game was intense. I can't be the only one sitting here giggling with anticipation at the massive undiscovered proxy. From that point onwards it was just constant action. Incredible he managed to survive let alone in such a good position. Also its very interesting to see how the meta seems to be shifting towards the slower methodical push of fortifications, castles, walls. They always seem to be useless with how quickly bombards dispatch of them but clearly I'm wrong on that assumption or they wouldn't be used.

Chinese's dominance over late game should be their signature, IMO, should not be nerfed. Instead, I propose penalizing their early game more so that Chinese player should pay more attention to base defense instead of brain-dead booming.
Maybe a reduction in Imperial Officer's military supervise boost (150% or 100% bonus only) so that China could not pump out troops so fast. In fact, the most important reason 3DBee defended the proxy push was that he massed Springalds in reaction so fast thanks to the Imperial Officers.
He didn´t even supervised one archery range what are you talking about. 1 IO was on gold - killed on the push - 1 IO on CT killed on the push - 1 IO was idle hanging around at an archery range not supervising and killed on the push, his last IO was supervising a mill.....
@@spysong1324 You are right about not supervising the archery range, apologies for my impaired vision. I have corrected my initial comment.
BUT during the first push, 3DBee DID supervised the Clocktower, getting two NoBs and I think they did some really nice damage to the horde of MAAs. During the second push, the supervised Clocktower also allowed him to pull out 5 Springalds and sniped all the Mangonels. Without these Spingalds, i'm sure 3DBee's army of crossbow and guards would be decimated easily.
Therefore, I think my argument about the Imperial Officer production bonus still holds, regardless.
Chinese's dominance over late game may be op for those high elo players, but it is not op in my elo.
@@henrylaz8964 well they got buffed in the patch because of that, they were so weak in early age that they were bottom tear umplayable, and had to be buffed their early game
lategame dominance is one thing, but a complete lack of any lategame counterplay is still boring.
fastest firing, fastest moving, longest range... chinese lategame is just boring to watch/play against.
Dang :/ really wanted to see an Abbassid win especially utilizing their improved siege engineering. It's so weird seeing all of the chinese benefits in action against Abbassid it almost seems like it's in another league
True but its also because 3DBee had a better economy at the most important parts of the game (earlier on) and then defended big push and then after that won most of the fights before bombards were even on field
3D!Bee neutralized the fearsome mangoes tho
Great game and fantastic commentary. About bombards and artillery in general they should be twice as slow overall, perhaps? Especially chinese too? Just thoughts.

They are kinda anti-meta civ, being so good vs cavalry civs but bad vs everything else. I think this is also the reason why 3DBee did not go Fire Lancers (chinese meta) since they lost effectiveness vs Phalanx-ed spearmen and camels.
@@henrylaz8964 They are not good vs cavalry civ because camel are quite usless. They loose quite hardly against Rus and Fr.

Drongo, is there any chance you could show us the income per minute after an eco raid - your villager count updates are good but they don't account for villager idle time/tech differences/IO boosting

Agreed, camel archers are way too expensive and heavily outclassed by the other ranged cavalry units in the game
not to mention how bad the camel rider is that it isn't even used at all, because even if your opp uses cavalry there are better counters to them than investing in c riders

I finally have to ask -- what does "boom" mean in AOE context?
It means to focus on rapid growth on your eco. Generally it refers to adding multiple town centres to speed up the training rate of villagers - more villagers = more resources.
think of it as the same usage of boom in "baby boomers" in that it is a rapid increase in something over a short period of time so in this case it's is an economic boom meaning a rapid economic improvement over a short period of time
It means an economic boom where you purely focus on building an economy which exponentially grows bigger and bigger like an explosion of wealth. So a pure boom doesn't do any defense or any military it's all just pure economy.

Kasva made two big mistakes that cost him the game here.
1.) He _didn't defend his rams._
2.) After his first big push was repelled, he went back in for more, but totally unprepared. The meta is very predictable right now; everyone and their mom would have known that Bee was going to mass springalds in response. He overcommitted to a second push long after it was obvious that it wasn't going anywhere and it crippled him.
I think Kasva probably assumed that his opponent would be unable to rebuild those villages, and thus would be pop capped to oblivion, and that he had an advantage he needed to push... but when you see mass archers and 5-7 clocktower springalds you need to *fall back.*
Why Kasva did not make bombards tho? Making a lot of outposts didn't pay out, with his villager lead it should become food lead, resulting in faster imperial + a more elite army, not static defense which shatters against bombard mass..
There is no way to win against chinese siege. Probably will get nerf in next patch.
Kasva's push looked... amateurish? He didn't go for any villagers. Yes, he destroyed a TC and some houses, but didn't slow down production or even go for the archery ranges. And it costed him the game.
Springalds won the game for the chinese.

Oh no, that failed surprise attack. Should have gone for critical structure or units. Not houses that can be rebuilt quickly.
Siege is way too fast. I get that upgrades help make it faster but imo it's ridiculous that siege can basically outrun even villagers.
Yep. At the moment it is hard for even cavalry to catch them if they have any sort of protection. Two mistakes were not focusing down the archery ranges with the maa and then when 3Dbee stabilized not going right into cavalry as you know China will be coming with siege. That is Abbasid main weakness is how much they give up for the Camel riders whose only buff that is semi-effective vs China is the faster movement speed and buff to combined arms with infantry but vs nest of bees, crossbow, and palace guard... Abbasids going to struggle.
