- An extremely rare collection of ivory inlays were recently unearthed in Israel’s longest continually running archaeological excavation. These decorated ivory pieces were the first of their kind to be found in Jerusalem, and boast of the city’s opulence in the decades leading up to the Babylonian destruction of the city.
This week, host Brent Nagtegaal spoke with Givati dig co-director Dr. Yiftah Shalev about the ivory discovery, as well as other unique biblical-period finds from the excavation.

Thank you for the documentary!
Shalom from Sweden 🇸🇪!
Really enjoyed this episode.
I had no idea ivory was more expensive than gold now I understand the phrase in the Bible about ivory couches
Thank You! 💙
So very interesting! Thank you, Brent & Dr. Shalev! The background sounds add and enhance the context, hahaha!
The background sound sounds like someone is having a pain somewhere 😂
I was wondering if this is an attempt to spoil the interview. Thank you for pressing on.
I love your program
Fabulous finds!
Is it possible to be able to ignore the loud moaning after you hear it day after day or does it remain annoying to people in Jerusalem? Thank you for sharing this video.
Well, it only happens a few times during the day. And this location is about 100 meters from Al Aqsa mosque, so, it is unusually loud here. But, you do get used to it I suppose. But, if you live where most people live in Jerusalem, you won't hear the mosques at all during the day.
Amazing!
Grazie molto apprezzato. Interessante documentario. 👍
👍👍❤
is the date 2600 BC. or are dating from the present day to get 600 BC
What a ridiculous assertion about the craftsmanship at 12:00
How did the meteor that killed all the dinosaurs, able to just single them out and nothing else , mmmm very interesting ,

When interviewing someone Brent, you first should check for background noise.
We might tell the minaret of Al Aqsa mosque to keep it down next time. :) Actually, we considered stopping the interview, but then thought it might add to the feeling that we were actually in Jerusalem.
Background noise...under statement, lol.

at war and they use that noise for violence
I didn’t mind and it did add to the flavor as you suggest, Brent. But then I’m a pediatrician and I’m used to screening out “background noise” lol. Wonderful interview!💕🐝💕
Nathan eved hmelech just like every other convert immigrant or servant their fathers name is abolished they only serve their master
The archaeology only confirms the biblical text whatever you did not understand is because you don’t really understand the biblical text
Thank you for the documentary!
