    Interesting to read the different comments ;-). I tried the SD43 this weekend and i was surprised that actually the width wasn’t a problem at all. Although I am a big fan and owns 2 subs (1986 + 2007), I have to say that the SD43 is a very nice watch. The specs are improved comparing both watches. I ordered the SD43 and will sell one of my 2 subs. The new Subs are not my favourites. I prefer the 16610 40mm. The SD43 adapted the the size so it become similar withe the old sub. The cyclops and redline makes it a real nice watch. Personally I didn’t like the previous SDs without cyclops and a more rounder crystal glass as well as the steel of the band. But again it all depends again on your personal preferences and indeed if you have smaller wrists, than i first suggest to wear it (just have your own feel and opinion) at your local dealer. I am wearing my watches when I sail or surf. Best

    Great content, Hafiz. I don’t believe these two have been pitted together and truth be told, one can’t want one without wanting the other. It’s the SD43 for me though due to its technical superiority and the history reflected by the Single Red Line Sea Dweller lettering on the dial.

    I love the passion and pace of your videos. I own an SD 43 and occasionally am drawn to replace it with a Sub Maxi due to comfort as a daily driver. The bracelet is formidable on the SD 43 and can wear heavy like a cuff from time to time when worn daily. I may get an Everest band to give me some relief and to adorn the watch differently. At the end of the day, I’m always happier with the bigger dimensions given my 7.5 wrist size. The case shape being rounded sits better with me aesthetically as well. When I do put on a maxi case Sub, I do appreciate the balance and thinness of the case. The lugs make the watch plant on the top of the wrist and the weight of the bracelet doesn’t cut into the wrist at all. The SD 43 is much rarer to spot on someone else which I appreciate, however. The ubiquity of the Maxi-Sub can be a bummer. I can’t justify having one of each! But I’m always tempted. Especially to have a no date! Lastly, as I use the bezel multiple times a day, to time anything and everything, a fully graduated bezel would be missed. The additional power reserve is also lovely. I wear mine in almost all instances and it takes a beating as it should and as it’s designed to take. Again, thanks for the video; it sums up the dilemma of these 2 great models very well while paying them both the respect they deserve.

    I think that in choosing a watch size it is also important to take into account the body type and build of the person to be wearing it. Eg. a broad shouldered/heavily built body would require a larger watch than a more skinny/lean body type.

    I have a hulk, but wanted a sd43, I played it safe. It’s a watch I need to have. Does the sd43 mk1 go for a premium?

    • @HafizJMehmood
      @HafizJMehmood  Před 4 lety

      Andrew M yeah a small premium like 1.5-2k usd or 3k-ish Aud.

    Is the AD in Australia allow to leave stickers on when you leave? I can see stickers still on on the clasp of the sub.

      No they don’t. None of my watches are from Aussie AD. I’ve bought most from wherever I could find - almost none at retail price.

    Wish they made a 42mm sub, with the maxi case outer lugs but wider bracelet like the 2020 “41mm” (which in reality is only 40.5mm not 41mm)

    SD43 Lug to lug is 50mm
    Sub lug to lug is 50.54mm
    i read somewhere but your measurements are different. But its really hard to tell on visual inspection, probably due to the curvature on the lugs.

    • @HafizJMehmood
      @HafizJMehmood  Před 4 lety +2

      Umm.... I don’t think your quoted dimensions are correct.
      Sub lug to Lug is more precisely 48.8mm so ~ 49mm
      And sd43 is 50.6mm. Give or take some human error and/or zero error.

    The 126600 looks and feels manly. The Hulk? Just put it back in the box for your next generation. Sea Dweller 126600 or the 126603... prefer these two over the 44mm SD. Just looks better with a cyclops.

    I wonder how many people really put these watches through their paces? To me, it makes little sense to buy a sub or sea dweller for actual diving. There are much more economical and more secure (digital) options available.

    • @HafizJMehmood
      @HafizJMehmood  Před 4 lety

      I agree and don’t think most buy them now for diving; but that doesn’t discount the fact that these are professional watches.

      Lighthunter I have just had my 1998 SD refurbished by perpetual time. See it on Instagram & you will see a watch that has been on my wrist since I bought it. I am a professional saturation diver & my SD has served me well. Love the anniversary SD 43. Also own steel & gold sub & blue face datejust 41mm. Great videos on here
