I get why AMEX is doing this.. This gets AMEX into a market where AMEX wouldn't issue cards too them directly because of credit scores but allows these new potential customers to see the benefits of AMEX when they reach that target score. Amex is also making sure it doesn't give them so many AMEX benefits that it makes actually holding an actual AMEX card useless.

Looking for a 2% card having:
    1) Virtual numbers
    2) No FT fee
    Citi has only 1) , SoFi - only 2)
That’s why Capital One Quick Silver 1.5% cashback is the best option for me.
0.5% diff is only 50 cents from every $100 spent. If it’s just a non-primary catch-all card used in combination with a bunch of other cards then it’s good enough and a 2% cashback card is not really needed.

Paypal used to allow people to choose a credit cards bank to convert from foreign currencies to USD when you purchased something from a foreign country but a few months ago I noticed that now they force you to use Paypal's foreign conversion rates which are always worse than the foreign conversion rates on Google (Paypal skims some money in the conversion) ... so being able to charge Paypal 2% for trying to be sneaky and not getting charged a foreign transaction fee is nice.
The 2% is also nice in places that are normally classified as business services like when I take my truck to get some parts installed on it or just general shops that would normally be classified as "everywhere else" for credit cards and be given the lowest cash back amount.

  • @Arabsummer

Would maybe be a solid keeper card with 2% cashback with no AF and no FTF, but no SUB and the fact that Amex isn't as widely accepted as Visa and MC worldwide makes it a harder sell. No minimum redemption is nice since it seems like most cashback cards have a minimum of $25 redemption, but if you hold the Citi DC, you would also have no minimum redemption for that card as a 2% cashback card. I do like the name of Bread Cashback though, it's kind of cute.

Quick tip if you're unsure on team Cashback or travel the chase freedom unlimited isn't a bad card 3% on dining and drugstores 1.5% back everything else. But this card is much better for travel you could easily get 2x value so 6% on dining drugstores and 3% on everything else when used for trave by getting the sapphire preferredl isn't bad. Chase is very cheap to get in into travel as well the Sapphire preferred is only 99 a year but there is free in branch offer with a great sign up bonus.
