    This is the exact duo I currently have, and it's perfect for pretty much everything I spend on. The 1x less on gas compared to some other cards is pretty immaterial as if you spend $5,000 on gas in a year (~$100 per week), it only really comes out to a 5,000 point difference, which is pretty negligible imo.

    • @LK_EBM
      @LK_EBM Před rokem +2

      Spencer uses the citi custom cash which gives 5x, meanwhile, Ben uses the Wyndham business which gives 8x.

      That's a solid trifecta for sure! You'd have to add the Citi Premier as a 4th card to get max value with travel partners, but it's still a solid setup. I just added the Savor last month and was able to use it for our trip to Universal Studios last week and earned 4x on the tickets and all of the food in the park. I'm going to easily hit my bonus which is $300, which makes the first year of the Savor free so it gives me 12 months to see if I hit the $9,500 threshold for dining and entertainment, which I think I will hit for a family of 5.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial Před rokem

      That's awesome! The value you get from a card in the first year is huge. I would also look at the end of this year to see how much value you would have gotten with the free version of the Savor card (the Savor One), because with that $95 annual fee on the regular Savor and no credits to cover it in year 2 and beyond, the free version could make a lot of sense.

    Dining credit is not a credit, Uber credit is credit, but for dining credit you have to spend at least $10/ month additional to get this additional $10 back, initial $120 which is part of $250 fees is still not returned. So the effective fee is $130 not $10.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial Před rokem +2

      They are both credits. One is a statement credit and the other is a credit deposited into your Uber cash account. However, neither of them roll over, so they are valued at the same number. At the end of the day, if you use both credits every month, you're getting $20/month back, bringing the effective annual fee down to $10 since you're paying $250 for the annual fee and get $240 back.

    • @eduardazayev4230
      @eduardazayev4230 Před rokem

      @@SpencerJohnsonOfficial No, Uber credit gets deposited no matter if you use it or not, does not require any additional effort. Dining credit requires you to spend an additional $10 which will be returned back. So, you paid $250 for a card, the card returned $120 use it or not, but it was deposited into an Uber account so all we have to do is to pick up something that costs $10 or more, or less, doesn't matter. Now dining credit, you paid $120 for the card, now you have to spend $120 more, to get the initial $120 back. Let's calculate $120 + $120 - $120(credit)=$120, ups, where is credit? Card cost $250-$120 Uber + $120 additional spend - $120 dining credit= $130, not "effective" $10. If you don't believe me ask your accountant.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial Před rokem

      @@eduardazayev4230 If you don't use the Uber credit, your effective annual fee will be $120 more as well. It goes both ways. I understand what you're trying to say, but at the end of the day, you get $240 back from this card every year if you spend $10/month with the dining credit and $10/month with the Uber credit.

    • @eduardazayev4230
      @eduardazayev4230 Před rokem

      @@SpencerJohnsonOfficial even if I don't use it Uber credit still starts with -$10, so now it is my choice to take $10 or not, with dining I don't have choice, I have obligation to spend $10, to get it back, never mind that I already prepaid it for the whole year.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial Před rokem

      @@eduardazayev4230 You prepay the Uber credits as well since they don't accumulate month to month. It's always your choice to use a credit or not. In this case, one is an Uber cash credit and one is a statement credit, both of which have credit in the name. However, I respect your opinion here and if you don't want to call it a credit you don't have to. The fact of the matter is you spend $250 to use this card every year... therefore you are prepaying for both the Uber and dining credits. If you choose to use both every month, you recoup $240. If you choose to not use one, but use the other every month, you recoup $120, if you choose to use neither, you recoup $0. It's just a math problem here and how you word it may be different, but the math stays the same. I think this is a good discussion to have so people can better understand what a credit really is, so thank you for bringing it up and I hope you understand where I'm coming from here.
