Great review of the drive so good in fact I bought one on Amazon and used your discount code along with the already $15 off putting the total at $253. To me it’s an excellent deal for the huge amount of games included all setup. I can’t wait to get it and customize it to my liking but I will back it up first thing on my other 12TB drive just in case I screw it up some how.
No, they are shipped from China so they take a couple weeks to arrive. I should have it by next week I figure. As far as backing it up on my other 12 TB I’m actually not sure how to do a clone but I will hopefully figure it out and I will let you know how it goes.
@@rcinematicit takes about 3-5 days for you to get a confirmation that it shipped, then you have about a 12-15 day shipping period after. I would say expect it about 20 days from when you order it. Well worth it if you’re into “preservation”. I bought the first version of it. The problem I had was it wasn’t fully set up. What I mean is some of the collections needed tweaking of the controls. This version is supposed to be more put together. I only wanted it for the content. I used a different front end (Retrobat) that I find more user friendly.
I just received mine in the mail this past Saturday, and it does work on my PC (still working out the controls). I have a cabinet this is going into that already has a Raspberry Pi 4 & 4 Sanwa controllers, so I hope the cabinet controls will work fine once I install the PC into the cabinet.
I say this is DEFINITELY worth the price especially if you're new to emulation. This is an AMAZING library of retro games! At the very least, it's game preservation!

i used to play more retro games than now. now i have on every handheld (and i have almost all of them that exist ) and pc whole collection of systems..every game from every system till now.. thousands and thousands games on handhelds and pc.... and i find myself most time just scrolling througgh them..not actually playing...same with switch.. i used to play games on switch....the moment i got the modded switch and i could have any switch game available i never play something...just collecting collecting every game without a reason....the more you have the less you play them thats true. its nice to have all gaming history at your hands but thats it.....

The idea of this drive is good for retro-noobies who dont want to put in the work of making their own build. I was like that when I started using my Pi 3B. After years of learning and stalling, I created a pack of ROM and BIOS files covering all consoles and computers prior to the PS1 that go into all of my builds, and then I add games from PS1 and up depending on the size of the media I'm using.

I’ve been a console gamer for years and just recently got a Rog Ally. Added some games via retrobat and my search lead me to these preloaded storage with retro games. Wow. Recently bought a very good condition hdd with 4 thousand games off Amazon Warehouse for $80, will get here in a few days. Might have to get this 12TB of games in the future lol
Thanks Drew for addressing the issue with the viruses. I had a big issue with one you reviewed which came with like 82 different viruses after the scan was complete. Note: I ran the virus scan before installing and running everything. I ran it multiple times and every time I ran it it detected less and less viruses until non were detectable, only then did I run and install whatever it said to install. If anyone knows about cybersecurity can you please help me confirm if it was a wise choice to do this?? 🙏🏼
more than likely false positives. Since Microsoft is comprised of mostly stuck up asshats, most vital components of some emulators and roms for modern systems are labeled as trojans and once you erase them, they're unusable.

Your absolute best bet is to install this on a separate partition and make sure the user profile is a "standard user" and not an admin. That way if there's viruses and they do infect the hard drive: A) the rest of the drive is safe and B) a standard user account can't affect anything critical (low-level OS functions).
if this has to run off a decent pc, why doesn't it have voice search - that's potentially the killer app for something like this - so you could say, 'killer instinct arcade' and it would fire it up, rather than you searching one letter at a time with a joystick and it finally flags up three different versions on four different platforms that you then have to choose from again !
@@presswire the program Launchbox is one of the few with the ability to search with text, and it still has a very nice interface. Maybe a bit less flashy but when there are like thousands of games... A search method is a huge aid!! Not sure why so many mod teams just make flashy bezels and have users scroll forever.

Nice unit!! Only thing I noticed it didn’t have was Xbox 1 games. Still trying to figure out how to play Wii and switch games as they have their own controllers and haven’t had luck.

FYI, I wouldn't plug this thing into my main computer if they paid me to own one. You have no idea what else could be hidden on that drive. If you do get one of these use it on a computer or device that doesn't have any personal information on it.

Returned to amazon. The ps1, ps2, xbox original, sega ms, sega genesis, sega saturn, nes, snes, n64 roms/emulators all run in slow motion. The gamecube, wii, ps3, ps4, ps5, xbox 360, and PC run normal speed, and the wii u/switch games dont seem to work at all.

Just sometimes, it would be nice to not have to do any manual labor. As long as I've been doing emulation...... I still don't like using retroarch...and I believe this drive uses something else? I just think it's super cumbersome and still would rather set up individual emulators instead of dealing with that nonsense. I know everyone loves it but I just hate how you do a setup and still have to go back and rework everything individually anyway. So for me, if I can find something where I don't have to fiddle with it...... I'm considering buying one and then just making copies of that drive 🤔...know what I mean?
That is gonna happen often, these drives are just copy & paste, after that there isn't any sorting or checks to make sure everything was transferred right.
I have an arcade now with 10,000 games on it, It’s running windows 10. It’s a 4 player with has light guns, roller ball and spinner. My question is, would it be possible to plug it in to the computer and have it actually work properly or would there be major issues like reprogramming everything? Ie. buttons, light guns. I’d definitely buy it if it would work.
My big question: is there a good Black Friday deal going on for this bad boy? Had it on my wishlist on AliExpress for a good bit, but there's no ignoring the fact it's not a cheap item by any means....might as well get a deal on it, you know?
It hooks into a PC, like a normal HD and runs on PC hardware; how are you hooking your retro guns into a PC? As far as I know there are no cables/USB inserts that let them work; if there are I'm sure you can map whatever keys you want to the trigger, but as far as aiming, again, how are you hooking up the super shooters base to the system? If you're worried about the collector guns/retro stuff you should be looking at a normal system/aftermarket and not this.
This drive is 12tb but as with all drives when formatted you lose storage space, so this 12tb drive formatted is around 10.9tb….only have 5tb means something is missing or not right, guess that’s the chance you take dealing with pirates - buyer beware

Anyone have experience with adding Wii remote with dolphinbar for light gun games. Also anyone know how to save progress on games? Xbox one controller has no configuration for save button. Any help would be great thanks

The only thing that limits it is the GPU but you can lower the graphics and should be fine I'm using a GMKtech K2 and have found a few that was unplayable but 99% are fine
After 4 months, what are your current thoughts on this??? I also have 2 Sinden light guns and a tank stick, how hard is it to make these work with this??? I want to buy one, but have heard they have viruses or don't work!!! Will this work with a 1060??? Thanks in advance!!!

RECOMMENDATION: I have had a chance to watch some of your content lately as I am shopping for a great gaming solution. One reoccurring comment you keep using is "every game ever." Is there a better way this could be exaggerated exaggerated? I understand the need for click bait language, but stating the number of TB, game quantity, system quantity, system Era coverage would help in being eye catching but more accurate. Just a thought!

NOPE MAN,,,once you set your controller it will be recognized for all the system (in most of the case around 90 per cent), if its not working you should go in the stand alone emulator folders and set the right controller on the option/settings panel of the emulator
I had got one but few issues. The Super Nintendo games seem be speed up not sure how fix that. Some games like PlayStation ones don’t have audio working. And I added some ps2 roms to drive but they don’t show up in hyperspin at all.
Is Starfox adventures on here? That's all I really care about! I don't really know how to do emulation and I'm not tech savy at all which sucks I've watched videos but my brain just doesn't wire in a way to wear I grasp the information to learn how to do it. How could I download some of these games if I buy this on to my computer and gaming handhelds?
Is there any way to map this for a PS4 controller rather than xbox globally? Or would I have to go into each emulator and config it there? I want to first config the front end to a PS4 controller. It definitely is NOT plug and play with another controller.

I just had my drive arrive in the mail and it has a large selection of games. I am still getting a hang of the software and how to use all the features. But initially i am disappointed as favorite games i was hoping to be on the drive are missing. including burnout 2 for the xbox (havent checked if the PS2 or Gamecube ver are there), Otogi 1 +2 are absent as well. there were other games i just dont remember them atm. I also launched the xbox version of Burnout 1 and the ps2 ver started instead. again i am still new to navigating and using the drive. (havent figured out how to save state games yet) so maybe though games are there. it would have been nice to see a list of available games even though that would thousands to see if the games you want are available before i purchased. will update as i learn more and try things out. but initially i am disappointed and impressed. for the price point i would want all the games i want to be there to be there and this drive does not have them. Update 1 - it did have the gamecube version of burn out 2. I still don't know how to save state, some machines have memory card built in like gamecube others don't like PS1 games. again i am still figuring out how to fully use it. so i may be doing something wrong. Otogi 1 2 are not on the drive which is really sad for me.

I would think there is a limit when those disk will wear out with age. Old dvds the light could be seen with holes appearing uncovered shiny coating.

Hey! Having all games is good for sure. But having them working with any controllers out of the box is something different..
What is the speed of the drive? Maybe run bench on the drive speeds

My question is, would it be possible to plug it in to the computer and have it actually work properly or would there be major issues like reprogramming everything? Ie. buttons, light guns. I would like to know this as well.
It hooks into a PC, like a normal HD and runs on PC hardware; how are you hooking your retro guns into a PC? As far as I know there are no cables/USB inserts that let them work; if there are I'm sure you can map whatever keys you want to the trigger, but as far as aiming, again, how are you hooking up the super shooters base to the system? If you're worried about the collector guns/retro stuff you should be looking at a normal system/aftermarket and not this.
It would be a challenge to live long enough to get time to play five minutes of each game.

This drive is 12tb but as with all drives when formatted you lose storage space, so this 12tb drive formatted is around 10.9tb….only have 5tb means something is missing or not right, guess that’s the chance you take dealing with pirates - buyer beware

The only thing that limits it is the GPU but you can lower the graphics and should be fine I'm using a GMKtech K2 and have found a few that was unplayable but 99% are fine

RECOMMENDATION: I have had a chance to watch some of your content lately as I am shopping for a great gaming solution. One reoccurring comment you keep using is "every game ever." Is there a better way this could be exaggerated exaggerated? I understand the need for click bait language, but stating the number of TB, game quantity, system quantity, system Era coverage would help in being eye catching but more accurate. Just a thought!

NOPE MAN,,,once you set your controller it will be recognized for all the system (in most of the case around 90 per cent), if its not working you should go in the stand alone emulator folders and set the right controller on the option/settings panel of the emulator

I had got one but few issues. The Super Nintendo games seem be speed up not sure how fix that. Some games like PlayStation ones don’t have audio working. And I added some ps2 roms to drive but they don’t show up in hyperspin at all.

I just had my drive arrive in the mail and it has a large selection of games. I am still getting a hang of the software and how to use all the features. But initially i am disappointed as favorite games i was hoping to be on the drive are missing. including burnout 2 for the xbox (havent checked if the PS2 or Gamecube ver are there), Otogi 1 +2 are absent as well. there were other games i just dont remember them atm. I also launched the xbox version of Burnout 1 and the ps2 ver started instead. again i am still new to navigating and using the drive. (havent figured out how to save state games yet) so maybe though games are there. it would have been nice to see a list of available games even though that would thousands to see if the games you want are available before i purchased. will update as i learn more and try things out. but initially i am disappointed and impressed. for the price point i would want all the games i want to be there to be there and this drive does not have them.
Update 1 - it did have the gamecube version of burn out 2. I still don't know how to save state, some machines have memory card built in like gamecube others don't like PS1 games. again i am still figuring out how to fully use it. so i may be doing something wrong. Otogi 1 2 are not on the drive which is really sad for me.
