- What happened when we tried to create a hardcore role-play server based on permadeath and hyper-immersive ideals. This is a movie about Haze V3 (AKA Haze Saltborne, and it all went down in the first 2 weeks, and a I quit afterwards.
I screen-recorded every moment of myself in the game so I wouldn't miss anything important, sometimes I'd leave my computer on all night just to record and "follow" a certain player.
Except the in-game drama, there was also behind the screen drama... I talk about why I left in the video.
This is a link to my session-based PW concept which I developed after Haze - docs.google.com/document/d/1I...
But like I say in the video, as long I'm not the one who has to deal with it, I don't mind it being 24/7.
"The Reign of Aldo" ... is the true name of the documentary.
There might be 1 uncredited artwork in the video... if somebody tells me who to credit, I will!
I don't know what Haze is like these days, but I do know it's still online and that there is a handful group of dedicated players: www.haze-saltborne.com/ - Hry
I just wanted to say.. I’m glad you shared the history of this server.. I’m currently playing now and am the watch captain.. and it has been nothing but fun.. this video just adds so much flare haha I love it!
I am lowkey shocked how many scenes I thought was just me and someone else and it turned out there was a DM flying around in the background. xD
Wow you are back. Glad to see new videos.
Kaed played a powerful cast of characters. Corporal Halric, Tarwyn and Azzedar. Great video
Just started on Salt and it is another beast entirely from other "hardcore rp" servers i frequent.
every now and again I come back to your channel hoping there would be more parts to your Hardcore RP series, but sadge to not see any uploads :c
that series has been so inspiring and I hope to one day either get to see a modern game take inspiration from it, or that I make a game like it myself ^^
hope to see it continued
Thanks, appreciate it. My main problem in producing such videos is actually playing myself- which I'm no longer willing to do as permadeath RP is, inevitably, very incredibly time-consuming. I told the Haze team/players that if materials were to be collected for me (whether DM's material or a player's journey) I'd edit the raw material and make a video out of it. They were no takers. I’d love to tell more true permadeath stories of characters & servers and I’m optimistic about the future and about getting this channel back to 'regularly scheduled programming' :-)
@@Larpushka oh, it's not necissarily this series I mean, although I've watched all of it too. but I mean the series like "Power to the Players: How players-driven worldbuilding changes everything"
you have this image in it about 3 pillars. power to the players, permadeath and story driven. I don't think you've posted one on story driven and I'm curious how you mean with that? because I often think alot of what the devs make is.... in the way of players expression..? if that makes sense. but really curious what you think :)
@@ostkaka8397 Oh, I see. Actually, yea, you've just given me some ideas. Thanks for your comment!
@@Larpushka nice, you're welcome. looking forwards to what it is you might do :>
First comment has got to be.. “Aldo was right.”
Thank you for a new upload!
Amazing. Greenbrow here, I played as Vico Geigne. After Aldo's death, the dude joined the newly found council, made a lot of friends, went through some major character development with Kelston and his gang, and finally, after quite a while, died to his own pride and my hardware problems. People did not strip his corpse and chose to bury him with his shiny and valuable gear. Many cried. Absolute respect.
You were the absolute MVP while you were there, Larp. As for your inability to seamlessly merge the real life responsibilities with the game, I blame the shortage of active DMs at the time. You carried the thing on your shoulders through the first weeks while being a very active and receptive DM. Such commitment combined with other responsibilities couldn't have lasted much longer without a burnout. I really enjoyed the stories unfolding under your watchful eye and i'm sure other people did too.
With the new quality of life systems implemented into the server, it's not quite as raw and crude anymore. Come see us as a player sometime and hang out by the pot, if you can spare the time! Insteresting stories keep popping up.
Thanks a lot for having made it special for all of us while you were there!
Greenbrow
Is anyone else obsessed with these RP stories and videos, but also very bad at RP themselves? I can't seem to stop metagaming. Really enjoy this kinda stuff though, fun to watch even if I'm bad at it.
Drama in a roleplay community? That's impossible.
Ok I just watched the whole video, my only criticism to this was I wish you narrated context in some scenes in what happened, or what the players were talking about in their interaction. Some scenes you did this, others you did not. Overall good video. Very enjoyable.
Cool, always trying new stuff seeing if it sticks :) thanks for the feedback!
@@Larpushka your content is good. It’s why I watch it as I was in the same scene of hardcore role playing servers back in 03’. Watching your videos gives a nostalgic feel at times of nwn I used to play years ago as I have the same interests as you with HCRP. Literally you are the only one on CZcams hitting this niche market with nwn, so keep up the content when you can.
And thank you.
gosh, what great videos. What are the names of the three songs at the end ?
1) Narumer song by a player of the original Haze (Gilaren Annatar's player) for which I hired a fiverr artist
2) On the Shoulder's of Giants - A DnD Fantasy Song for Mr. Miller (Natural 1 youtube channel)
3) Warframe | We All Lift Together
@@Larpushka Thank you!.
I also started looking at Haze and found about Easting Reach apparently also a hardcore RP server with permadeath (but I have yet to try either).
Anyways, thanks a lot for the fantastic content you are putting out.
@@Larpushka Narumer song by a player of the original Haze. This is such a good song!
Any chance you would upload the Narumer song as a standalone video?
Long Live Aldo o7
rip
I remember being in that discord and was toxic and was not good to the player base as why I left.
good memorys grug would of been more helpfull if it wasent for his 8 int 🤣
