Good looking sister.

She is the aircraft’s First Officer. Typically, the Captain (left seat) and First Officer (right seat) alternate flying duties while the other operates the comms, et al. Both are difficult duties. Typically the Captain does the taxiing, especially dependent on the aircraft type, ie some aircraft don’t have taxiing abilities in the right seat. In this video, the First Officer took off and was flying the aircraft.
Excellent feedback dougcfrary. She also seemed to fight the yolk just after lifting off.
@@cosettepotozniak7987 I think that’s kind of the soft spot for the control surfaces. My son and I airline pilot told me about that.

The 737 has a tiller to steer the aircraft on the ground, It is on the first officer's side of the aircraft.

A kapitány ül a bal oldalon, jobbra a másodpilóta.
Csak hosszas kérdezősködés után tudtam meg a meghívás okát, amikor végül megszólalt a kapitány magyarul, hogy azért mert "az Árpád Gimnáziumban érettségiztem"!
Budapesten született görög pilóta volt, aki a '80-as évek elején "haza vándorolt" Görögországba.
Egyébként a Szűcs Judit énekesnő sógora volt.
Nagy élmény volt ez nekem, mindez 1991-ben.....
Ma már ilyen nem történhetne meg.
Always fun to watch a pilot control an aircraft. Thanks for sharing.
She was the CO-PILOT, the PILOT is in the LEFT SEAT. Geeesh
@@cosettepotozniak7987
Both are pilots. Normally, the one in the left seat is the pilot in command, aka the Captain.
On a training flight, the pilot in the right seat would be the pilot in command if training a Captain.
What is not to like about seeing a professional pilot concentrating getting her passengers safely to their destination. Great video.
Do you really think that this video is about "a professional pilot concentrating....."? Really?
simp.
She is the CO-Pilot - During pushback and taxi, she did NOTHING more than the checklist and talk with ground control - what EVERY Co-Pilot does. The CAPTAIN checked the controls, taxied the plane to the take-off runway, the lets the CO-Pilot push thrusters forward.
She was "in control" of the YOKE, but the 1st 2,000 feet she's all over the pace with it. ALWAYS looking at her instruments and didn't look outside until the last 20 seconds. There is no doubt she's qualified, but needs a lot more hours to be THE PILOT in Command.

Look at her eyes, always looking. Experience starts at the beginning. GREAT VIDEO...
She was looking into my eyes many times. We had eye contact. I am experienced. Not a pilot, though.
You should be looking if you have ideas, matey!
THe Co-Pilot didn't check for OUTSIDE AIR TRAFFIC until that last 25 seconds of the video - she was GLUED to the instrument panel. Could be she's gaining experience. There is no way she should be struggling with the YOKE, the airplane's auto-pilot should be keeping the plane steady.
@@cosettepotozniak7987 she was hand flying by the insruments in IFR conditions.

I met a female pilot in Key West, Stacey she had just qualified to fly the 767. Darn neat lady. She bought a house there and had it restored.

Thanks for letting us see what happens in the cockpit during the takeoff. I didn’t hear them calling the “speed alive” to certify the pitots working. Does the OP not require it or it was just me not listening?

Retired airline pilot a captain for 21 years and enjoying my retirement immensely
I bet. It must be hard on the body and health with the whacky schedules. I'm sure it gets better with seniority.
How many flight hours does the F.O. have? Is she type rated on other aircraft besides the 737-800? Those taxiways are in rough shape. Is this in Venezuela?
So this is what it was like to see my baby sister fly the 737, but she was a Captain.
When she was a First Officer on the MD80 she became a member of an elite group of pilots who had to rotate with passengers on board while shutting down one engine.
2 years later she became a member of an even more elite group when she became the only pilot who had to do that 2x. The first one the engine was disintegrating internally and Denver, the second one it was making an unscheduled disassembly at DFW.
A main reason she got to jets was because of her experience as a Beech 1900 Captain, 2 weeks in having to bring a night leg back to Milwaukee because the nose gear did not appear to be deploying, which was observed before landing, but later discovered that the lockdown bulb was burned out.
She succeeded where 3 military trained pilots barreled an Eastern L1011 Flight 401 into the Everglades in 1972.
Certainly, women can do most whatever a man can, but only they can bring human life into this dimension.
Your landing gear bulb comparison is apples and oranges. Your sister had the benefit of CRM training and more importantly a very loud alarm if the autopilot kicks off.
Minor point but I don’t believe the Flight Engineer was a pilot. He was a PFE, or Two-striper who was a former A&P mechanic trained to sit in the 3rd seat.
No disrespect to the PFE or either pilot.
That crash and others resulted in many changes that make flying much safer today.
@@CWK090 Certainly there were changes in that Federal Law and FAA Rules are that at all times someone must be flying the plane. When she was 3rd Seat on the 727 she was a pilot, and even by 1980 when the MD80 was introduced, the 3rd had to be a pilot IIRC. Nevertheless, she had to defeat distractions, make decisions, and fly the plane. The Eastern Flight could have landed and not crashed with those elements exercised.
@@miguellogistics984
I don't know how long your sister has been flying but, before his accident, Captain Loft had over 30 years experience and around 30,000 hours of flight time without an accident.
I just completed a 35 year career without an accident. I had 3 engine failures, smoke in the cockpit, at night, half-way across the North Atlantic, hydraulic failures and other emergencies I was trained to handle. I never lost an engine at V1 nor did I ever know anyone who did so it is a rare event that we train for every nine months and brief before every takeoff.
Does my flying record make me better than Captain Loft? Absolutely not!
I was a Check Airman at a major airline, responsible for training and evaluating pilot performance. I was a member of my union's Safety Committee.
I've seen the best of the best make mistakes. Pilots at all levels need to study every aspect of each airplane accident, past and present, and use that knowledge to avoid the same fate.
The most dangerous pilot is not one who makes mistakes. It's one who thinks they are incapable of making mistakes.
It is highly unlikely that what happened to Eastern 401 will ever happen again.
Today, if the autopilot disengages without the pilot intentionally turning it off, everyone in First Class will hear the alert.
@@CWK090 She had become a flight instructor as soon as Tests and Hours allowed. She did that for years, so successfully that when one of her students who had graduated got married, she was the "Best Man". (silliness)
As stated, she had worked the regional short and unserviced field puddle jumping for a few years I suppose, when she could test and qualify as Captain in the 1900. The even that landed her the interview with the major occurred dead winter, no service at the field, at night, so it was back to Milwaukee and she was pumping the hydraulic pump to hold up the gear as the 1st landed in violation of the FAA requirements, but the pump had to be operated, and someone had to land the plane.
As for Captain Loft, he complete the hours, but not the career, you did, so I would grade you the successful pilot. You handled significant adversities, and you are here to tell of them. That says something of Command, Focus, and refusal to allow emotions to distract from the tasks that had to be carried out.
As for 2x engine losses at Rotation, the second time it was told to me that the Chief Pilot for the Airline called her after the debriefings and pleaded for her to find a better way to get single engine time. (more silliness)
The first event placed her as 1 of 6 in the world who had to take the MD80 up on one engine. The Captain was useless and panicked. The Second Captain was reported as saying something to the effect of "I understand that you are uniquely qualified in this, you have my full confidence." She said the passenger adulation and thanks afterwards was far harder than the event, as the Captain refused the thanks and pointed at her.
She knew the plane. She believed in the plane, as it was designed to work within a common envelope. One engine on take off was within design specs, so to her, there was nothing out of the ordinary other than engine shut down and hitting fire suppression. The plane was smooth, climbing as designed, another uneventful day at the office.
A man taking his Captain's Exam Flight audited her training time, and selected her as his First Officer in the Sim, despite his friends begging him not to choose a woman to mess him up. He was reported as saying to them to stay home, she was the best pilot he had ever seen.
One thing she was known for when going through the training scenarios, the unsurvivable tests, she stayed on the yoke to the ground, where others she trained with would see the point of no recovery and would let go.
When she was young and took on the yard cutting with steep inclines on the riding mower, my Dad assessed that she was a machine operator. He was also recognized for a talk he gave to the AP if I recall correctly.
I agree. She's a pilot. Not competent because she's 'beautiful '. Stop this . She's amazing. She's a pilot.

Indeed TAROM is the Romanian national airline, there are several TAROM planes on the ground and Otopeni is the Bucharest airport. Maybe Mr. Catalinache recognized the landscape.
I have another doubt however. The beauty is sitting in the co-pilot seat on the right. The captain is sitting on the left side and you can see his full profile at 4:38. So who is actually taking off; the co-pilot or the captain?
Sitting on the right-hand side of a commercial plane's cockpit typically makes you the first officer or co-pilot.
She isn't the Pilot. Sitting in the right hand seat means she is the First Officer.
You are right and wrong. She is a First Officer but when she is holding the flight controls (flying the airplane) she is the PF (Pilot Flying), during this time the Captain in the left seat is the PM (Pilot Monitoring). In aviation the word Pilot refer to any person that hold a pilot certificate issued by the Aviation Authority of his/her country, in the US by the FAA. A First Officer has the same qualification than a Captain, but the Captain is the PC (Pilot-in-Command) and has final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft. Contrary to your comment, she is a Pilot!
