I think something that you forget is that the mask is actively controlling Ranboo, it’s not Ranboo himself but rather the mask controlling him to do what Showfall needed to continue the story

I think there is one thing we all universally agree on and that is that Matpat ignored the mind control mask.
Because if it was all faked, then there would be no mind contol. It would be a lie. That's the point of the theory, you can't trust anything Ranboo says regarding what happened because he's the liar in chief. He can just say anything and you buy it because he's the hero/victim. You know, unless he's not.

Bro literally ignored the whole mind-control elements that were Very Clearly Established Multiple Times. Like when in episode 2 we see Ranboo get reset, and that's when he starts acting more NPC like and leads Ethan to his death.

Exactly! And in another stream they say that the mask blinking at the end of EP3 was them getting their memories back. If they were the founder, why would their memories be removed and be put back like that?
I think that, while I personally disagree with it, it’s just a theory and I’m just glad that Matpat gave GenLoss more attention.

@@johnbastion747That's not the same thing though, as the basic overarching story is very unlikely to be a red herring. This theory also gets debunked by Ranboo's multiple streams that just explain generation loss better.

He could be acting it though. Through MatPat’s theory is interesting it also doesn’t explain the memory’s being replanted into his mind.( that was stated in Ranboo after stream). That could be that he remembers that he is the founder or something like that.
Where were these?
The fact Ranboo said that in the ending GL!ranboo is supposed to be remembering his life before the show when the mask flashes tells me that he can’t be the founder, why would he have removed his memories if he was in control? And how would he know what was going to happen if his memories were gone?
I find the end part where they talk about the founder cut really interesting and it in some way makes sense. The founders cut is (i assume) going to be posted on the generation loss channel but the original copy isn't on that channel, it's on ranboo's even though Ranboo said himself that he wants them to be to very seperate things.
What do you mean by the original cut? Do you mean the vods of the livestream?
If so that channel isn’t ran by Ranboo, it’s a vod channel made from a fan that Ranboo gave permission to post the vods too as he doesn’t have a vod channel himself,

@@nerezza9250 ah I see, it is a bit strange because as far as I’m aware the future generations will be on that channel, but I am like 99% sure Ran said the founder cut will be on the Gen loss channel, I think he also said some like behind the scenes will be on his main channel, like stuff from before the show started.
And it makes sense you don’t know about Ranboovods being ran by someone else, Ranboo said it like a year and a half ago in a random stream

As much as I hate to say it, there is 2 crucial flaws in this video 1 The mask that Ranboo wears is mind controlling and they themselves have confirmed it in multiple ways and 2 the death scene was actually filmed live as Ranboo states in a video

Ranboo’s character in this is especially resemblant to the role of Amanda in Saw II. A mole included in the deadly activities meant only to move them forward as planned

@shning-lght7215 It is confirmed that the mask was a way showfall controlled Ranboo. So I'd say that to some extent, he is the victim. If Ranboo know exactly what he was supposed to be doing, there would be no reason for him to be controlled.
@@shning-lght7215 The reason Ranboo disobeyed us was not because he was in control of any script or purposefully driving the story along like Matpat said. It’s because he thinks, after he’s done so many horrible things to his friends (he was under perception control, and Showfall heavily influenced his actions) there is no way the viewers would want what’s best for him.
He thought we would sabotage him, and that’s why he went his own ways once the mask turned off.

Just for anyone who doesn't know, Generation Loss isn't an ARG! I guess its better described as a web series, there aren't any irl/out-of-universe elements.

knowing that ranboo (the character) gets electrocuted at some point, after watching slimecicle's commentary on the first episode and saying that ranboo's (the person) mask was malfunctioning and constantly zapping him during most of part 1 is kind of hilarious
I didnt know Gen Loss was nominated for an Emmy! That would've been so cool!
So a very important thing to note that you've completely glossed over: Ranboo's personality changes whenever their mask is lit up. Almost like the mask is controlling him to behave specific ways. Whenever the mask is turned off, Ranboo's going off-script and doing their own thing. Ranboo also said when the new content was coming out that the old Gen Loss content can be disregarded, as they re-worked the story since.

this actually is most likely wrong. important info is just thrown out here. it’s clear ranboo is still partially brainwashed in episode three to fit with hetch. he uses his noted “npc voice” (same as he uses right after “reset” ) to say “are you sure that’s safe?” after charlie picks up an axe. if they had brought that axe with them they would’ve been able to get past the boarded up door.
in episode two ranboo attempts to tap out “s.o.s” while controlled and his other hand stops him.
in episode one. when he first wakes up? he is in the same position as he was at his death, just laying down. he complains about his head hurting. he says “this wasn’t supposed to happen??”. he doesn’t know what’s going on.
in the game in the website you see how he was KIDNAPPED BY SHOWFALL with an orb similar to the one shown in the starting soon screen of the streams
the whole thing is a commentary on how creators are treated. with showfall media being a play on social media, his mask representing censoring, the titles everyone is given on the carousel.
he is just another victim manipulated to be a certain way. respectfully matpat you are incorrect and clearly do not know all of your information properly.

your theory is DIRECTLY disproven with two streams ranboo did after genloss talking about it, 3 tumblr posts of his, and a game that’s fully linked to genloss in the SHOW. for someone who seemingly did research you didn’t do a great job.

While I agree that this theory is pretty bad, something important to note here is that MatPat likely wasn't the only person doing research, if he was involved in the process at all. He has a team to research and write scripts for him; to a certain degree, he's kind of just a vessel for _their_ ideas to be delivered through these days. And I think the team left out a whole bunch of context on purpose, to be honest. If I had to guess, they watched through generation loss and looked at material where Ranboo talked about it, realized they couldn't come up with a valid theory based on what was given, and decided to just throw this together because they know genloss is popular and it would get them views. I'm not defending it, but that's just how this channel works sometimes.
I agree, I was really suprised by how easily disproven this video was. Like the whole point was that the mask was controlling him and he wasn’t making his own decisions. Any slip-up would be by the person controlling him, not Ranboo himself
this theory is interesting. the mind control mask never gets mentioned, but that might be because Ranboo isn’t being controlled. I do feel like Ranboo was mind controlled by Showfall, but this could happen too. we just have to wait until it’s revealed. Also I could definitely argue that Ranboo’s memory of getting interviewed was taken away from them with mind control.

If a lot of this wasn't debunked, this theory is actually really cool and fun to think about. If Generation Loss wasn't about Content Creation or Audiences, I could totally see this as the actual plot.
It’s not about that, it was a coincidence, ranboo confirmed that, now I don’t really have a say on the lore but I know ranboo confirmed that it only looks that way
I think one thing that makes this theory a little hard for me to follow is that Ranboo said their character is getting his MEMORIES back when the mask flashes right before it cuts to the life or death scene. If he was the founder why would he be getting memories back? If he owns and created the company I don’t really see a reason for him to have his memories taken away in the first place. Idk maybe someone else here can help me out lol.
this is exactly what I was thinking lmao, i like matpats theory but i feel like he's not focused on the main points of the lore which are found in the livestreams (ran's mask, squiggles etc) and instead basing his research on the genloss YT vids, which dont provide enough information to give a correct theory.

The only way to work the memory and mind control thing into the theory is if you theorize that Ranboo is the founder, and to play the role of the hero, had their employees while their own memory and gave specific instruction on how to control them during the show
But I feel like that's a lot more of a stretch
@@lilac_reed You don't even quite need to work the mind control into the theory since it's something that can be staged to further trick the audience, though it could also connect to the memory wipe such that the founder, Ranboo, gave instructions on how to run the experiment and wiped his memories at some point to make his own reactions more authentic (while also leaving himself certain clues to make sure he makes it to the finale.)
I’m really surprised MatPat didn’t cover this: on one of Ranboos streams he told us that when his mask lit up that was actually them putting his memories back into his head. Just thought you should know because I personally think it’s crucial information and I can’t wait for you to make another theory maybe going a bit more in depth once the Founders Cut come out ;D

I genuinely cant tell if they actually watched generation loss or not, theres no way you can watch that and not process the fact everyone is being mind controlled.
But that in itself could be an element designed to trick the audience, especially when you consider the inconsistencies MatPat pointed out. Remember, we don't know who we can trust in the video series, if we can trust anyone at all, and that then brings in the further question of how much of what we see and hear from commentary is trustworthy. The theory has a basis, how true it is, until proven one way or another, is up to us to decide, whether you agree or disagree.

Yeah bro! I’m having physical pain here, knowing that the ONE THING all of the community agreed on, is that when the lights on the mask r on, Ranboo is being controlled. But MatPat just completely overshadowed that
The mask isn't EXACTLY mind control. It controls what Ranboo sees and how he reacts to things. He wasn't able to see beyond the 4th wall until the mask was turned off and whenever someone died, he didn't really react to it much because of the mask. Once the mask turned off he was actually able to fully comprehend that the others had died. Its not necessarily full control but it is partially controlling the way he experiences things
then again... if it is "Controlling" the things he sees and feels... Isnt that also just Mind Control?

so on the one hand, yes, it is mind control, because if you influence what someone sees, you can get them to do almost anything
on the other hand, it's not exactly mind control because they're still allowing Ranboo to _think_ because they still want his raw emotion for the show, but they want to still have influence and urge him into the right direction
either way, i think it's like a filter, choosing what Ranboo sees and what he doesn't, by turning blood into slime and corpses into skeletons

10:03 It was revealed that the electric chair actually DID kill him and he was revived after going “unconscious” that’s why the lights in the mask flicker off (but it seems Matpat didn’t look into the series enough to find the main theme that ran was being controlled like a puppet on a stage) :)

Adding to the theory, what if Ranboo DID get his memory wiped? What if he was just unconsciously following the plot of the episodes due to him having had “buried” memories of it from before while he was planning it (kind of like someone understanding the fact that they’ve forgotten something, but not what.). To add the mask into the idea, what if when the mask gave him back his memories, they weren’t memories of his past life before the show, but of his role as the founder? And then to keep the show going as it’s supposed to, he continues his act. He WANTED us to pick for him to die, or else the show wouldn’t be following its script (according to this theory).
Matpat have you heard of the Shorts Wars? If so, we need a whole saga for that lore man.
I really hope matpat does more research and makes a better theory, because some of these things are straight up wrong. I know his team probably did the research for this, but hopefully he does more research. I advise that he watches all three episodes and the stream Ranboo did afterwards that gives some info on the lore.

I don't think the Puzzler not killing him was because he was his boss, it was because he knew he was the main character. Mr. Squiggles mentioned about the Puzzler "We just let him do what he wants" meaning that he probably wasn't controlled, but part of the cast, and knew the plot. His death is also the only one not featured, as Ranboo just found a tape of his death, meaning he was probably not really dead.
Its been confirmed ranboo actualy died and got brought back with the electricity, also the puzzler was "terminated" and got stopped with all the other characters when the employees brought sneeg back in ep2 so its safe to assume hes a victim too, whats more interesting to me is that if charlie and the puzzler (2 previous antagonists are controled) whose to say hetch the 3rd antagonist isnt, he wears a mask as well which could indicate that

It’s an interesting theory, but I’m not sure it’s true considering that ranboo stated that the genloss ranboo got his memory of his live before he was a part of the operation back while they begged to be killed.

True! The amount of overlooked lore is... annoying (no hate to MatPat tho). And yeah, Ranboo's even doing a rebrand soon to try to disconnect himself from the DSMP- Though there was nothing *wrong* with that era (it was actually awesome), it's over now, and it's sad to see a big channel like Game Theory perpetuating connections Ranboo doesn't want anymore.

I see a couple flaws in this video, one of the ones that sticks with me is the fact that Slimecicle dies at the end of the show. He couldn’t have recorded the interviews if he was dead- plus, there was no in between in the episodes as well. He went from dying, to dying, to dying.

Yea in all 3 episodes slime literally went from dieing at the end of episode 1 to being killed or forgotten or something but everyone's just guessing he died by the end of episode 2 to dieing at the end of episode 3 so he just go's from dieing to dieing? To dieing
I always got the impression that the 1st and 2nd episode weren’t exactly “real life” they killed Charlie both times to make it interesting, but the third was real because it wasn’t “scripted.” Also he was playing characters at first, but then we see him streaming normally until Ranboo wakes him up. However, maybe I’m wrong and it actually was scripted ( like what matpat said) towards the end and he is still alive.

Generation Loss is probably one of my favorite stream projects now, followed by Jerma's Dollhouse. I also never expected Jerma or Ranboo to be in a game theory to begin with.
When Ranboo said that when the mask flashes he gains a memory/memories it made me think about the finale when their mask flashes a lot, the more it flashes the more they yelled at us to let them die
I believed this but (no hate) it's been flashing a bunch from when he got the pocket sand at the beginning to when he died so by the end ranboo could probably remember being born from how much it flashes so it doesn't add up, it seemingly would work/add up better saying that it flashes during very important decisions or moments, mostly being in life or death situations where the decisions are important or something that could change even small parts of the story (even just when things happen) so basically during important stuff. [Edit: sorry it's really long I just am confused how it's supposed to work]

You know. Matpat and his team sometimes think that some evidence or lore is not really canon. Case in point: the Dream SMP episode when he didn't count Jschlatt's canon death, because it didn't really have an impact on Schlatt or Quackity (who killed him). It may or not also be the case here with the mind controlling mask.

I think Jerma’s line of “that’s for you to know and for me to find out” was an honest mistake because in one of Ranboo’s streams where he gave behind the scenes stories it was revealed the Jerma’s mic had broke right before the second episode started and he couldn’t hear most of the actors and what was said.
I think this is the first Game Theory video that I just don't agree with. Ranboo is being controlled. That's one of the biggest parts of his character. Why would Showfall control him (or go through the trouble of faking controlling him) if he was working with them from the beginning. An example is how in the Mouse Trap scene, the Puzzler left his detonator on the table and we see Ranboo reach for it but can't. He's frozen. He's trying to grab it but something (Showfall) is literally stopping his body. If Ranboo was working with Showfall, why would he try and grab the detonator? Why would he fake being stopped? It just doesn't add up for me, sorry haha.

They did the SOS in day 2 as well but he stopped himself when that happened. Also the Mask has Showfall on the back of the mask so I don't see how Ranboo is the founder either. Now the idea of Showfall and Generation Loss being the same company type deal I can understand if that's what MatPat had done. Yet he says they are 2 opposing sides which I can't really understand.

Heyo guys, I would just say that even if this theory doesnt match up perfectly or if parts of it are disproven, it still is a huge accomplishment for ranboo and what he is trying to do. Theories are just theories and think of how excited ranboo was just after the first one!! This is still a really cool theory about a really cool piece of media.
(Plus, imagine how horrific it would be if ranboo WAS the founder and the memories they got right before his death were him realizing they had manufactured their own downfall...)

To be honest, I i thought MatPat was going to mention the fact that Ranboo's mask controls him, but I didn't see that included. Though his mask's lights were flickering during the death scene. Does the fact that MatPat didn't talk about mean that the theory isn't true?

Matpat, thank you for the teaser theory vid, also laughed at the whole ignoring the mind control mask and reaching lol, but when is the actual gen loss theory vid coming out?
This is a really cool theory but there are so many holes in it that kinda debunk it.
1.generation loss logo came from showfall media because if you look at the side of the showfall meida logo you can see the generation loss logo in it so that means there are the same thing (kinda) and generation loss is just a shorter version of the showfall media. and this has been proven by ranboo.
2. In the cutaway scenes in the first episode you can see Charlie do them to which honestly makes me think that there both have been there for a while.
3. I forgot about this so the posters that got coverd up are literally ranboos missing posters and probably got covered by showfall media to have the show be more exciting and draw attention away from ranboo being missing.
4. After ran got sneeg out of the cage and Charlie appears he said that sneeg had been in the cage for 2 days and interestingly sneeg says thay Charlie tried to make him do the cooking show but he said no making Charlie lock him up kinda makes mw think sneeg was supposed to be the "hero".
5. When the puzzler was shocking ran he actually died but showfall brought them back to life. The puzzler did 10 thousand voults of electricity it takes 100-250 voults is the is enough to kill a human.
6. Ranboos mask is actually controlling them and taking his memories away and giving them make and this was proven by ranboo themselves.
If i got anything wrong or missed something please tell me and no im not trying to hate on matpat i do like this theory it's just not possible.
so all main character's were killed of in the end, ranboo by the box, and charlie along side sneeg were both killed by security.

The problem with matpat's theory here is that it can explain away literally anything. It's similar in thought to an 'it was all a dream' ending, where there is no argument against it. I think what he's saying is that it's all scripted. Everything is just as fake as it is in real life (minus the death). I'm not saying that this is my favourite theory ever or anything, but it is watertight.

Towards the end of the theory mat mentions how in episode 1 the cutaways must have been recorded after the show... but how would they have been broadcasted live DURUING a show we know for sure to not have been a recording as chat makes active decisions during the entire experience???
True! I personally always believed that they were recorded before Showfall aired the first show, as the characters will talk about the lines they say in the cutaways.
Yep! Ranboo himself has confirmed, (out of character ofc) that the only pre-recorded part of any of the streams was the bit where he and sneeg teleported out of the room with the diamond and into the fashion room
@@Wayfaring-GremlinThat's how they did it in the real show (the actual livestream), so I assume the same happened in-universe. All the interview sections were pre recorded while everything else was filmed live and the cast knew what they're gonna say in advance through mind control stuff

When the mask glows, it controls Ranboo. He said himself that during his death when the mask was flashing that his memories were being returned to him.
