I've learned so much more history from Matpat during these theories than from school history class
Doors was one of the first horror games to legitimately scare me. It’s kinda funny to see matpat now making a run-through of this game now.
While Doors has spooked me, it hasnt been ominous, sometimes it is due to ambient sounds.

With how one of Doors's paintings is called "Theory" and depicts GTLive's ever-popular couch as well as the decorated wall behind it, I wonder if the creator(s) ever imagined that their creation would have a Game Theory dedicated to it, let alone multiple of them.

The black goop that all the other entities have is also probably a part of the lore. The black goop on seek, screech, and maybe rush is really suspicious.
Something else I noticed with the recent update:
At door 50, a lamp is knocked down, which distracts "The Figure". Originally, I thought it just fell, but now, if you look very quickly, you'll see the Guiding Light's blue glow/sparkles. Meaning that it can physically interact with things too!
Plus, the NPC added this update, Goblino, mentions the blue glowy things. This means the Guiding Light isn't just exclusive to us.
Additionally, the furniture being thrown around in the Seek chase with the guiding light present, implies it's helping you by creating a blockade to distract and/or stop Seek.

I have a theory to go along with mat's evidence, so after the courtyard things get crazy. I believe that the courtyard symbolizes that the guiding light can't protect you anymore.

Now after the update, this theory got stronger. All the creatures that try to kill you can be crucified, even seek, but the figure is the only one who can't.
seek can get crucified but matpat was right about the flesh theory becouse in some rooms including 100, there are flesh parts on the ground, holes in the walls and scratches, and at door 100 when you open the gate it looks like figure came from a hall but no he was in a corner with the same flesh

I’m so excited and hope there’s another video about this game. Getting to explore the new update in more detail will be fun to watch. Including the new ‘The rooms’ levels. I love to watch these videos. They always make me want to play the game and take a deeper dive into it then I would originally. I always love the creativity that each video has.

Theory: Rush can’t get you in closets or under beds, even if he’s sees you go in there. I’ve concluded that he is blind and uses his smoke to feel. This would explain why rush has a range, unlike ambush who I’m guessing can see just fine.

#1: It wouldn’t be very fun if the only spot to hide was a closet or under a bed
#2: Maybe the smoke can’t reach you behind certain objects
Second Theory: Guiding Light, Halt, and Curious Light are related. I will say Halt probably died first, and filled with rage that they are about to make it to the end. Taking the power Halt has, he uses it for devilish reasons. First, to attack guiding and curious, then blinded with rage and attacking everything.
Guiding Light died next, and decided to assist Curious. Guiding Light thought the rooms were an escape, and accidentally bringing death to Curious.
Curious likely died to A-90 (being one of the most confusing) and deciding not to be hostile or help, but believe in the person they are watching.

One thing to note is that the Hotel+ update introduces a secret door which leads you to a place known as "The Rooms." In this place, there are 1000 doors. If you manage to reach the end, you come across a bridge with a door at the end that brings you back to the lobby. This is the exact same bridge you can see near the entrance of the main lobby.
im pretty sure the rooms are a reference to a game to the same name so it has no canonical influence on the game, rooms was basically a predecessor to doors.

One correction I want to make, is that the bridge on A-1000 brings you back to the infirmary, not the lobby.
If it was just a reference then it wouldnt have 1000 doors and hidden items and achievments.

Another thing that could change the story of doors is how there's a secret door that once unlocked leads you to the original inspiration for doors, "Rooms"

That seems more like an easter egg than a canon hint, considering you can only open it with a skeleton key. The Guiding Light in the game is also different, with yellow light instead of blue. The only thing that seems feasible itself is the fact your items get carried over. The Crucifix also "seems lighter" and doesn't work correctly in Rooms.
Maybe Rooms is a beta version?

I have some more lore for you from Hotel+: In the rooms (found in door 60) there's 4 extra entities, mainly curious light. In the hotel when you die, guiding light talks to you, but in the rooms, curious light talks to you. When you use the crucifix on any entity in the hotel: the guiding light kills the entity and the candle goes out and guiding light comes out of the candle. But since in the rooms the crucifix doesn't work, that means that guiding light doesn't exist and the curious light is a lot less powerful than guiding light. Now expand on this lore please.

i don't know if i should be surprised that he made a theory video on doors or be impressed for the amount of theories he comes up with in general with attention to every little detail
I also think it could be an interesting idea that our character got to know all these things about the entities because they have repeatedly died in some kind of loop
As a small thing I noticed myself while playing, theres a painting you can come across while exploring, its of figure, if you interact with it it read as follows; "This painting is called greediness." Therefore implying that Figure has something to do with being greedy.
