I truly believe the monsters Poppy was talking about wasn't the living toys, like her, she was talking about the scientists.

Theo became Catnap at only seven years old and the video where the scientist says this to him takes place four years later. This guy literally says this to an eleven year old. The poor baby probably thought the hour of joy was the only way that he would be free from the torture.
the hour of joy really scared me ngl, it explains a lot of lore tho, and it's really important if you want to get into it (the lore) Dogday in the game says catnap did that to him because he probably didn't slaughter the workers like the other toys. When poppy lets you see "the hour of joy" tape it doesnt have Dogday in it, So that's probably why Catnap did that to him.
Pretty ironic that Dogday ended up being punished. He wanted to rebel but didn't want it to go this far.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a massacre like that before. that’s actually so scary and I wish I had more footage of people trying to run and hide 13:22 let me tell you catnap gave me such horrible dreams. It’s like he was releasing my innermost fears. I know it’s not real, but for some reason he possesses a power. Strange.
My head looks at all this and thinks that, in the Hour of Joy, every toy participated for that dark hour. And then afterwards, The Prototype removed all mind control hold he had, and with the results of their blackout on full display asked them to join him. Some did, some did not, and that's how it was for ten years. Now we are here.
And it traumatized me
The most horrific fact about the hour of joy, is that many of the people attacked had nothing to do with the experiments.
Imagine you're a regular factory worker, then all of a sudden the 'animatronics' suddenly come alive and attacks people.
Or even worse, someone who came to adopt a kid...

It’s crazy to think that the mc we follow was just a lucky survive only because he quit earlier than most of the employees and why the toy factory probably went out of commission was due to the outside world probably shutting it down and the promotional team i personally feel would’ve been the reason for this and they moved on from the factory leaving whatever was inside to stay inside

Chapter 3 implied we knew *something* based off the nightmare scene in the house with the tv huggy. The whole thing is a dream which means all information from the radios about Ludwig we already knew and then the monologue the tv man gives about us coming back. I think at first we didn’t know and then we understood something suspicious was happening behind the scenes and then we ‘find out’ and our character rightfully doesn’t come to work that day and now feels guilty because everyone died before we could even process what was happening - or we had something to do with it which is also likely bc why else would you feel so guilty that you’d come back?
@@llcourt probably because killing the monsters that they were supposed to be children(most huggy because he was the first one quick question why was huggy not attack the player and after they killed huggy why the prototype didn't kill later the protagonist it's a bad idea let someone you don't like and let them a chance to live weird) and the nightmare heard about the missing boy it was coming from a radio the player probably heard it that something have happened.

12:12 Mommy long legs is a kid! In chapter 2 we can find a note about experiment 1222 (mommy long legs) and that the child that was assigned to it was called Marie Payne. Later in the chapter 3 arg we got an incident report from Claire Harper saying that the child in her care, Marie Payne was experiencing weird and violent nightmares from the red gas. We can also see this in game since it’s the first vhs we find

I think the hour of joy was justified.... until they started to kill innocent people. However, I believe since the souls were that of children, and children don't have a clear perception versus a full grown adult with experience, they may not have known who was evil and who was really innocent. It was almost guilty by association. But overall, I know irl what it is like to be ab-used as a kid and it's cruel for any child to be subjected to horrific things. The hour of joy was essentially all of the evil scientists' fault and they're the reason that so many other innocent workers had the same fate. It's a very intriguing story nonetheless.
And children. The children likely died as well

Probably cause he was the first experiment and was used to compare other toys to him in order to improve their executive functions and intelligence. You can always use bad experience to progress on something
It’s basically one of those stories where the scientists were drunk with power and were too blind to see the potential consequences and uprising from the bigger bodies toys. If they were rational, then yeah, they would’ve quelled the rebellion. But based on the last video tape from Chapter 3, you can tell that they were more fascinated with sadistic scientific discovery than keeping their controls in check.
The prototype was simply too powerful to kill,so they just did what they can,that is keeping him in containment

I find this story so fascinating but the realist in me keeps wanting to know how no one from the government has been out to examine the buildings because someone's got to pay property taxes and I'm assuming the last electric bill hasn't been paid either lol
I wish the could tie that aspect of realisim into this, considering how it was a world-wide company, and a HUGE building. Im sure the government would love to pounce on whatever is left in there.
@@kingsmas8340 That could be a little side story, a collections agent gets it in his head that he's going to collect from the big account or maybe just get some answers as to why no one ever answers the phone as I imagine a company this big would need multiple people manning the lines (they don't usually go out and find people but maybe this agent wants high praise or something, but he doesn't tell anyone because he's actually not supposed to be there) so he goes out there to see if he can talk to someone and catnap stalks him (like a mini prequel before the main story) but now I'm way overthinking this lol
I have theory, my theory is twisted So,
I think all Poppy, Ollie and prototype are teamed up. I'll describe it in points:
1. In the first game you get a letter that letter shows poppy's location, where catnap had trapped poppy. Poppy was trapped so she couldn't send the letter.
2. In all three of games neither poppy nor prototype is hostile to the player, it hints that prototype wants a host or soul or something from player.
3. And we have seen that prototype only goes for dead mascots or those mascot who are verge on death. So prototype wouldn't kill or hurt kissy. There is probably another experiment that possess threat to poppy and prototype's team

Mike from Super Horror Bro reckons all three want the Protagonist to help them tell the true story behind what happened as, no doubt, what remained of Playtime made some cover story along the lines of "We went out of business after everyone quit on the spot."
I think the prototype wanting a real body and somehow possessing someone else is a valid point.
But I also think it's weird that the main character don't talk so we don't know what he's thinking or what he's about to do, he's just going with the flow essentially.

I see the hour of joy as a necessary evil for freedom of the children. Like Gamesault pointed out, the prototype and the others wouldn't have any way of knowing which employees was good from evil, so they just had to attack them all to end the torment and plans of the evil employees. It's unfortunate that innocent people had to be involved, but it had to be done in the long run to save other kids.
Also catnap was the one that was killing everyone who opposed the prototype. We don't know if the prototype himself wanted that

Marie Paine is a kid not an adult, there’s a note from her adopted mother that explains that and the orphanage program was before the experiments took place and was still operating even after that, I think Eliot actually wanted to help children, but after his death the company saw them as supply of test subjects and because they can’t explain to the public what happened to the children after the closure of the program they left it open, giving some of the children away but still experimenting on the rest, I also don’t think the Prototype killed everyone opposing his control, Catnap became a fanatic and did that, but we don’t know if the Prototype approves of his actions maybe that’s why he killed him
We know that Catnap treats The Prototype like a god, as thanks for saving his life after the child imbued into Catnap almost died trying to help The Prototype escape. So I think it's safe to say that The Prototype was the one calling the shots for Catnap. Catnap was pretty clearly illustrated as having complete devotion to The Prototype, going so far as to maim Dogday, one of his kin/siblings/fellow Smiling Critters for opposing The Prototype. If Catnap is willing to turn on those closest to him for The Prototype, then The Prototype is definitely the one in charge.
My guess is Elliot really did want to help children. After his death, whoever took over saw power and profits over humanitarian work, and started pushing Elliott's research into darker and darker places. The Prototype's name suggests he was the first (or at least the first to survive), and so would have had to watch all of those who followed him go through the testing, suffer, and die.
As more and more toys were implanted with children's consciousness, The Prototype built up more and more resentment and rage, seeking vengeance on the scientists who ruined so many lives. So The Prototype connected with the Bigger Bodies and other living toys, sympathized with their pain, anguish, and rage, and made allies of them. The Prototype waited until there were enough toys he had convinced of his plan for The Hour Of Joy that they could act, and when the time came they all got their revenge.
Assuming at least the majority of the living toys are children, they wouldn't have the critical thinking developed to separate the adults who were responsible or complicit in their torture from the workers who knew nothing about Playtime's insidious secrets - in a child's eyes, all of the adults equally had a hand in their torture and abuse, so all deserved consequences. And that's not even accounting for any mental decline they may have had as a result of the Bigger Bodies process.
In the end they were all left alone, and vengeance didn't fix anything, nor did it heal their trauma. That plus a lack of food devolved their attempted community into what it is now - The Prototype has ultimate power, and anyone who doesn't fall in line is seen as in league with the Playtime workers who caused their situation in the first place. Whether or not The Prototype has a current plan besides retaining power remains to be seen, but I'd theorize it's probably some attempt, however misguided, at ultimate revenge. Either on humanity as a whole, or an attempt to hunt down Playtime employees who escaped, like the player.

You said consciousness and in case you don’t know how the toys are made I want to explain it, they don’t transfer their consciousness, they kill them, remove their organs, put them in the bodies of toys (some of their organs are fused with electronics, for example most toys we’ve met have voice box) and then revive them, that’s why when we kill them they bleed and the Prototype have bones in his arm
Also not only the children haven’t developed their brains enough, but also maybe the Prototype ordered them to kill all adults, think about it, if even one adult escaped they would call the police about the supernatural things happening in that factory and from there you probably know where this is going, the Prototype was adult (from what we know) so he would’ve realised that letting even one employee escape would put every toy in danger
I think a lot of things were solved actually, for example THEY WERE NO LONGER SLAVES, I don’t know why everyone says that it didn’t fixed anything when this is HUGE, but anyway, sooner or later the bodies would run out and after that the biggest bodies would start eating the smaller ones (based on the toy corpses they already began) so I wander if the Prototype have thought of resolving this problem
@user-fl3oc1bw3u but what would Catnap's shrine be to, if not the one who saved his life? It's not like he has many other allies at this point.
The children would have only known each other and the workers/bots of playcare, so there would likely be a sort of community bond, even if they aren't best friends, especially after they've all gone through a similar traumatic event. The Smiling Critters would have been featured together even outside of marketing, so Theo would have been with the others a lot simply out of association.
I said consciousness because we have evidence that it exists. In Bron's video they discuss whether or not he knew his name or what was going on, implying they expected him to retain his memories and awareness from his adult life prior to being implanted in a toy. Similarly, Kissy is seen longingly looking at a picture of a child she keeps in what appears to bo her room/a room she frequents. She either was that child, or had some kind of bond with that child.
I really doubt The Prototype ordered the children to participate in The Hour Of Joy. For one thing, getting all of them on board with that plan would be harder than convincing the victimized toys - the majority of the children would have little reason to distrust their caregivers. For another, children are a lot easier to defend yourself against than a 10ft tall razor toothed monster. The children would have been more of a hindrance than a help.
It *didn't* fix anything because although they aren't subjected to any further tests, they're still trapped in toy bodies, unable to leave the factory, and have no food. They're trapped in a meaningless void space, left to die a slow and painful death or be murdered. They got revenge, but it solved nothing. They're still trapped, and their lives will carry on just as they would have had The Hour Of Joy never happened, only worse.

I think it’s safe to say that Dogday is an adult based on his voice (Catnap doesn’t sound like a kid, because his voice box is broken) so it’s possible they didn’t know about each other until the bodies and I’m pretty sure it was mentioned that Theo is very antisocial, anyway the thing I’m trying to say is that only because the toys are marketed as friends and family doesn’t mean that the people inside them have to act like that even if they go through the same, imagine what will happen if two children hate each other and one of them becomes a bigger body while the other is small, Mommy long legs is and example of this, she was stronger than Bunzo and the mini huggies and killed them for failing us

What confuses me is the scientist said that huggy wuggy was a successful experiment because he's "obedient", but in the hour of joy huggy wuggy participating in the massacre, so was huggy obedience just a fake front?
I took it as Huggy just doing what someone else suggests. Maybe he doesn't care who it is who is giving him orders, he just does it anyways.
He was told to guard the entrance, so he does. He was told to attack, so he did. Then he had nothing to do and went back to guarding the entrance, until he was told to do something else.

No, from the beginning the prototype had been mimicking Harley Sawyers voice (The only voice the toys are supposed to recognize as superior to them) and began giving orders to Huggy, which eventually led to his unpredictable behavior and his obedience towards the prototype, there's no doubt about it that if the Prototype simply told Huggy to massacre the ppl in Playtime co with his normal "Voice" he'd most likely not even pay him any attention, or if we're being entirely honest probably even try to kill and eat him. In project playtime he orders Huggy to get up, and get the players while using Harley's voice.
There's evidence to believe that the prototype can mind control or persuade some of the toys to do his bidding.
In 1995 Play Time Co has been abandoned for 10 years so that means the year that the player returns now is in 2006

I don't really get pulled into game lore, but this one is fascinating... I know when Ollie was talking he was saying something like the player can save a lot of people, and when Ms. Delights video was asking where the children were, she was told that they were safe... Also in one of the vhs that you mentioned the scientist was talking about how the ones below them need to stay contained... I'm wondering if there are a few employees and children that are hidden in some type of containment room... Also Braun is in a containment room as well...

I always thought that poppy is the one who's controlling everything in playtime co. I mean if she was able to see the hour of joy while being in the case, her eyes must've been connected to every cctv in the factory, like she has a hacking device in her body. And that's why the prototype put her in the case to not be able to do anything but to watch.

Poppy said the Adults ran, hid, did literally anything they could to survive yet not once do we see anyone grab something like a chair and start swinging it at the Bigger Bodies. Also, we all know this is the part of the story where the Police and Military Academy Rejects drop the "Just a slightly overequipped RentaCop" facade the Press and Public see and start blasting away with M14s and Glock 17s before being inevitably slaughtered yet that doesn't happen either meaning they were either seriously caught off guard or the Whackjobs in charge just scoffed at the idea of arming themselves. "Armed Security in case of a break out? Don't be so foolish, such a thing shall never happen, we have confidence in our abilities as unethical and immoral Businesspeople and Scientists to control our creations..."
They did say they were trying to oppress the children, I guess they thought of them so low they never thought they would be able to rebel.

I think maybe the MC may have known and helped to cause the hour of joy, you may have learned what the scientists of playtime Co were really doing and it's sickened him, then came across the Prototype and then that's how it was all planned out and then after that he left them to their own devices, the sad part is he didn't know that it was going to go that far.

well if the all the toys killed everyone cos they were tortured, poppy explains that she wants the prototype dead because of this. so what if poppy agrees with all torture and murder of the kids and it turns out in the end the prototype is somewhat of the good guy. Just a cool idea I had, love to hear what people have to say about that

I am wondering who these ppl that Poppy is trying to save, are we saving the big toy initiatives and the prototype by killing them all or are we saving other kids that the toys were protecting from the evil adults?
Why do i feel like the hour of Joy was specifically for the Player? Like alot of the toys seem shocked or rlly PO'd cuz we're alive and i don't think its just because we're an employee. One of the VHS tapes even literally says we missed "It" (the hour of joy) And it's obvious the player just wasn't some random employee based on the fact that both Mommy long legs and Ms.Delight recognize them perfectly.
Something that I’m curious about is if the prototype was a roommate with Theo before they were chosen. Plus I’m curious why they needed two sets of the grab pack to escape maybe we might get an ally that can use the grab pack to help us escape at the end

I feel like the player is more involved in the experiments then what we truly now as if you remember in Chapter 3 when we first enter the School House Miss Delight after finishing about the kids staying in there seats she remarks that she knows the player and that they were a worker here and she asks how we were alive still, this means that at some point the soul in her was either around them enough to still recognize them years later this would also explain why also Huggy, Mommy, and Catnap so badly want to harm us we might have not agreed with what was going on and was forced into silence or something was done to make us forget as it seems we truly don't know what had happened but the others remember us

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed we're an ex employee. But the fact that Ollie asks about lost body parts did stand out to me. It makes me wonder if Ollie is a toy as well that for some reason doesn't recognize that humans can't lose an arm and go on the way toys can. Either that it's just a really dark nod to how brutal The Prototype can be, as we saw with Dogday.

@skyandrews2613 this is true, but a toy-body wouldn't have been able to leave and return 10yrs later. If we were a toy, we would have been present for The Hour Of Joy, or if we had escaped then the reality of Playtime Co. would have been widely known.

If I were to relate the hour of joy to anything, animal farm is a book to think about. In animal farm the animals rebelled, but the animal that would take over became a tyrant. They would off anyone that disobeyed them and would give the animals what they want, but not in the way they hoped for. This is something I thought of and hoped you could take it into one of your next videos😅
Wasn’t it also turned into a film? I think the pigs becoming tyrants were supposed to represent dictatorship {Think of Mussolini or Stalin}

Man, this video is quite a sad one now after 3 Chapters so far of the Poppy Playtime series, I realized that the workers of Playtime Co. are the bad people, and the monsters who ruined the children's lives. And, no wonder Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Legs, CatNap, and the other Toys were trying to kill the Unnamed Protagonist because he seems to be an ex co-worker, has come back to try to fix things, even if he might have been part of The Hour of Joy sad incident.
I truly hope in the next chapter we have a playable part that will review this moment, if not in the eyes of an employee from the factory, one security guard of the deepest part of the labs
While it's obvious the evil scientists are the true villains, Chapter 3 hints that the toys indeed got divided into different groups where some follows the Prototype to survive and stay alive while some follows DogDay and Poppy to stop the Prototype from hurting the innocents and work to keep their humanity. Possibly to save the orphans too if the Prototype truly kept them alive.
From the look of it, the Prototype is winning through rage and fear but with the arrival of our MC, the tides are turning.
While I do believe the Prototype is the final boss, I don't think it's the end until we truly bring down the evil people behind this horror, according to Project Playtime, it looks like the bigger people behind the experiments are still alive so it's not enough to just defeat the Prototype, I think we needed to help the toys achieve true justice.

The Hour of Joy is what I described as the Negative Consequences of Playtime Co.’s Actions and Sins, these Monsters took away the Lives of the Innocents and their Futures taken away in the Form of Toys to Marketed their Brand and Hide who they Really Are, it’s understandable why the Toys eliminated the Guilt but the Innocent that didn’t know were Punished Senselessly, they didn’t deserve it and makes them no better than Playtime.
Given that the food would run out & the toys could never leave it only stopped more toys being made.
For the toys already made it just swapped one form of suffering for another.
They were now condemned to a meaningless existence of constant hunger and even cannibalism of their friends - like Ms Delight was having to kill her "sisters".
Even if they were freed, the orphans would have struggled to adapt to the real world (assuming they'd seen it once before).
Imagine the physical pain of seeing sunlight, HUMAN teachers, no gas to get them to sleep, the trauma of discussing Playtime Co - they would struggle.
No more toys being produced is good, but The Hour of Joy removed the factory rules on who gets to live so...
since the toys can't be undone then having their lives finally ended would be a blessing.
The Prototype would have known the toys would suffer like this, so it did this for a reason that benefits it alone.
The horrifying thing with the lore is when dogday says"I'm the last of the smiling critters"maybe saying be cause the smiling critters maybe din't obey the prototype and the got slaughtered by catnap

I think the VHS isn't a full version of the hour of joy.Some toys are missing like the bigger smiling critters, bunzo, bron,pj,etc. Imagine a full video of it... 60 minutes of sensless slaughter...
I think i remember watching Dawko react to poppy playtime tapes released on the official poppy playtime youtube channel that weren't in the games or sum and some of the clips were taken directly from the tapes he watched, but it might just be a mandela effect i have

Imagine going through that for a whole HOUR. i feel so bad for the guy who got chased by the miss delights and the guy who was chased by the bunnys (idk the name) like this thing gives me NIGHTMARES and actually makes me actually be in the hour of joy FOR MY DREAMS. gosh.
I think it's too early to trust Poppy, but for now I'll take her words. Poppy wants the place to shut down, therefore she asked the protagonist to kill any hostile toys under prototype influence and eventually kill the prototype. Without any hostile toys, it's easier for authorities to do investigation and permanently close the Playtime

i have dumb theory that we see the player character during the hour of joy, in the first clip with huggy we see all but one person running in the same direction which leads further down the factory, but like i said one guy in a black suit runs the opposite direction and a part of me think it might be the player character. it seem that the player character have a particular fear for huggy, they have two nightmares in chapter three both have huggy in them and in the first one really focus on how frighten the main character seem to be of huggy, so maybe we play as someone that already feared huggy but i admit i'm likely wrong as we didn't seem to know huggy true nature when running into him in chapter one.
The hour of joy revealed everything we needed to know of what happened to playtime co they didn’t just killed guilty they killed the innocent
Questions that won't let me sleep at night:
- Did the big toys eat frozen workers for 10 full years? If not then how did they survive if they need to eat
- How did Poppy survive 10 years trapped in a cage without food
- were the children also x_x at the hour of joy?

For the first two, Dogday had said something about the toys not needing too eat but eating in hopes to fill a hole inside of them. So food wasn't a necessity, it was a want for both the smaller and larger toys.

Is our protagonist an toy or the last experiment to be conducted ? we havent him seen drink something, eat something etc. in the entire game. While this isn't a concern for chapter 1 and chapter 2, which probaly is together just an hour or so at most. In chapter 3 we are also still very ,,fresh'' despite being blacked out for, who knows so long. While at the topic how come we dont get tired/hungry? Also while at the topic of lucky isn't it just weird how our MC is abel to just leave and not get killed for it. Everyone who tried to tell the public about it got killed and yet we, who were probaly very deep in the project, just got to go? Also guilty is apparently one of the motivators and yet we didnt tell it for all those years?

I'm wondering if the hour of joy happened during a tour of the factory. In the first chapter, during Poppy's commercial, they mentioned an hour long tour for $2.99. That would explain why there were so many people/bodies than necessary in the vhs tape Poppy showed the player. I could be wrong, though. 😅
Thinking about this makes me shiver, even though it’s fake, I can imagine how horrific it must have been to be in that event, children used as tests, murdering with no self control, killing hundreds of people. When you first play this game, you think nothing of it, but then once you find out about it the lore, you change into a different person.

Hour of joy was just a logical event . In the audio log of ludwig and the prototype we can clearly see that the prototype learned from every human interaction he had and ludwig seemed to let his darker side out with the prototype leaning from him and every thing he can get just patiently waiting bc he knew that soon or late hell take control of the factory . Oc being tortured and influenced by ludwig for years led to this result
You know we’ve yet to see Ollie in person. Also he sounds a lot like Gregory from FNAF series. So tell me is Ollie one of the few surviving kids or is he another toy that hates the prototype? Plus, now that I think about it, when the hour of joy took place we only saw the deaths of the adults, we never saw any kids get killed in it.

R, I realized something but I don’t know if you know this but I noticed that in the hallucinations. The photo of a girl is seen in them and remember Kissy Missy lamenting as she looks at the exact same picture of a girl that the Player saw in the hallucinations! I have a theory that the reason why Kissy Missy didn’t attack the Player is because she probably remembered Player as the one who was her parental guardian.

I just realized the final tape and Poppy playtime chapter 1 was taking place probably during the hour of joy and also he sounds like Patrick Bateman one last thing if those alarms in the final tape of chapter 1 are only of like the first two chapters that have that alarm system sound so my guess is that the final tape and chapter 1 had to have taken place in a much higher point in the factory probably somewhere around where huggy was being kept that's just my guess though

Eliot was dead when the body of the child was found and the mc was on poppy gas so we dont know if it was real or just made up helucinations
We don't know for sure but I can't help but feel the radio broadcast was real. What doesn't make sense is how the mc can hallucinate catnap while on the gas. How can he hallucinate something he hasn't seen?

I want them to release news videos of what happened after the hour of Joy. The employees had families and the orphanage would have been registered so maybe a unsolved mysteries style video would be fun.

My guess is the player character instigated the Hour of Joy then left. The guilt drove them to bury what they did in their mind

This isn’t about the hour of joy but! I think that the prototype has been messing with the toys, getting them killed (section 1) then getting ready (section 2) to fight the player (us)
Section 1: The prototype has probably hacked the toys to attack everyone which gives the prototype more space to roam. He then makes the toys attack everyone they see to get themselves (the toys) killed. Then he takes their bodies to make his final form. In chapter 2 the Prototype takes Mommy long legs’ dead body to make a form. Chapter 3 he takes catnap to make his form again. In chapter 1 he probably takes huggys body. And the rest of the smiling critters, he might use them to make his form. That is my opinion and what I think.
Section 2: He will use all of the parts whilst the player (us) is still there. Whilst we are exploring, we will find pieces of the old monsters (huggy, Mommy, Catnap, Smiling critters) and it will lead us to the prototype with all of the pieces moulded together into one giant monster. This will be Chapter 4, The Prototype. We will fight him which will be the hardest bit of the entirety of poppy playtime games. Once we defeat him we will find the front door that we came from on chapter 1.
This is my opinion on Chapter 4 and what has been happening.
