- In this video I review the Elechomes humidifier I recently received, all the stuff it comes with, and the features it has. Overall it's a well-made unit. There were a few small things that didn't work as well as I wanted but they weren't deal breakers :) We have been using it for a couple weeks now and have noticed a big difference! No longer super dry in our room at night. Humidifier runs like it should, no hiccups.
The humidifier on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2529KP
The unit has a white replaceable pad inside that filters the water. There is also a separate cylinder filter you can attach inside the tank that filters the water so there is no white residue. Also in sleep mode the heating element shuts off so you only get cool mist in that mode.
Your the best 😀 just bought a home and your videos make me a super star. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks Gilbert! Glad you find the videos useful :)
I have the SH8820 model that fills from the top. It’s a very good unit, I just wish they had a cartridge unit that would fit inside the water tank like the model you’re showing. I’ve not had any white dust but I’m using filtered water. We are on well water that we treat through a water softener that uses salt to cleanse the purification bed. I was worried about build up so we opted to use filtered water.
Update: I contacted customer service and was given this information “Elechomes Humidifier Replacement Filter Cartridge for SH8820 Humidifiers” for ordering through Amazon.
I love this humidifier!! It is one of the best purchases I've ever made. Great video too. Love the accent! 😈💜😈
My remote works very well. No problems on my end, but I only use it in my Master bedroom.....
Mine is leaking water :( could it be the valve? If yes, how can I fix it?
Whole house humidifiers are the best way to go. Aprilaire units have a humidistat to set according to outdoor air temperature. Precip on your windows means you have the setting too high for the outdoor temp. Also tank units have to be cleaned well on a very regular basis to avoid aerating bacteria that form in the tank. Aprilaire units run on flowing, evaporated water and all you have to do is set it and forget it.
Thanks Johannes! My humidistat is manual and even with it set to the lowest setting, if the thing runs, my windows fog up. Being that they have wooden frames, that's probably not a good thing. But you are definitely right! :) A whole house humidifier is definitely the best way to go.
I just got mine and all I get is 003 error code I’ve filled mine up around the same amount as shown in this video? What else can I do to solve this or is mine just a broken unit?
Great job! Thank you :)
What about the filter that that goes in the tank
Hi, I find the humidifier hygrometer inaccurate, a difference of 15% compared to an oregon scientific hygrometer, less so with other digital hygrometers. Have you compared the humidity value with other hygrometers? Do you know other humidifiers with precise hygrometers? I was thinking of returning the SH8830.
Thank you
How do you remove the door on the remote for battery replacement?
Please how do I get it to permanently mist as I have to keep pressing the on/off button for it to let out a mist please I want it on a permanent misting
Another great video. Ps. I was looking for a video on the heat side of the AC unit. Not sure if you made one or not. Need info on that subject as my heat is not as worm as it should be. I feel the R410a may be low. I hate to say this but where I live in Florida, there are a lot of questionable guys in the industry...sad. . Thanks again for your videos.
Hey Viking! Glad you found my videos helpful. The reason I don't have any videos on heat pumps is because where I live I barely ever see any heat pumps. I know how they work but don't have enough experience with them to be a good consultant on them online. I would say your guess has a pretty high chance of being accurate unfortunately. If everything is running but it is not coming out as warm as it used to, it is likely that you have a refrigerant leak. One would have to check the pressures and take some readings to know for sure though. Sorry to hear about the lot of questionable guys out there.. Hopefully you can find a good tech!
@@WordofAdviceTV Thanks for taking the time to respond. I am sure you are busy, :) I am in Florida, so this is the flavor of the month here. It's worming up so I will continue to do research to find a AC tech. Thanks again. Great videos.
Why does it switch off automatically and say high temp
Which model is this?
nice review thank u :)
this thing will be great for a grow room
Hello, thanks for the review. Please, how can I open the remote control?
carefully
No! You have to get a humidistat that works properly. This thing might be at best a one room humidifier; maybe. If they send it to you; try it for a year before selling it to people. It can be tempting because people send you things to make a video but think 3 times before doing so. There are a lot of what looks like an atomizer on the market with a name that is decent. Even those are questionable. If you have the ability whole house is the way to go with a good humidistat. Dude I love you, think hard on this one. You know better... GB..
Curiosity the one year warranty makes me skeptical as well. We work with Aprilaire and those come with a 10 yr warranty.
@@bart1meuz I have tried Aprilaire, took it out and purchased a drum style humidifier and used the Aprilaire humidistat to control it. Much more efficient and a lot less water waste. I'm around 38% with the drum and was around 30% with Aprilaire. The huge difference in my book is water usage. Maintenance between the two is about the same. The key with any system is maintenance, if done they are both safe systems but one uses 95% less water. Let us use less water or Aprilaire find a way to recycle the water..
Thank you for the critique and the encouragement Curiosity! I will try to heed the advice given. :) The reason I am not using my whole house humidifier is because my windows fog up pretty bad from it (even when it is set to the lowest setting). The windows have wooden frames so I don't want them to start rotting on me. My theory as to why this happens is that the house is poorly insulated and the windows are low quality. This humidifier supposedly can humidify an area of 750 sq feet. Doesn't make much of a difference for me since I only want it for our bedroom at night so we don't wake up in the morning with a dry nose and throat. So far it did exactly what we wanted it to so I am pretty content. But you are definitely right! A whole house humidifier is the way to go and I should probably stop being lazy and make it work right :)
@@WordofAdviceTV Thanks for listening, you are anything but lazy and have some of the best advice on CZcams for DIY HVAC, it's pretty much all doable in the home when you get into commercial settings it gets much more complicated. Your types of videos whether the home owner can deal with the issue or not allows them to see an issue they might otherwise Not see. With that have a good professional like yourself come into rectify the problem/s. It's not all DIY but the ability to spot a problem before it gets worse. Nothing but A+ from you on this channel and I'm also a technician in an unrelated field. Lets talk humidity and others may discuss/argue and that is healthy. I have a home built in 1989, efficient windows for the time but they are now aged and they do show some leakage air wise. They are gas filled but it not the windows so much as the frame, over time you will have air leakage around the frame. At 37% humidity I do see some water glass to frame area about 1/4 inch worth, to me this is acceptable, is it disturbing my frame yes but my cats are not walking spark plugs.. :) .. Windows will need replacement over a certain amount of time but depending maintenance on them can help in longevity of the window and frame. Without a humidifier at all I was running 12%; not a creature comfort zone. We are not Fish but we do require a certain amount of water in the air to be healthy. Keep up not the good work but Excellent..
great video just what I needed
Glad the video helped! :)
Hi I have this humidifier but I don't know how to put or keep it in warm steam , can anyone please help me with this and ty 🙂
Should you be using distilled water if you don’t have a water softener? Looking to buy one that’s decent because like you, I’ve only had the cheap ones that aren’t very good.
I do have a water softener so I've been using tap water. I haven't had any problems with this one so far, besides the remote dying shortly after I made the video. I don't use it anyway so I wasn't too bothered by that. Good luck with your search for just the right one! ;)

Do you have a link? Am looking for one like this for my house. Would like more.

Mine constantly reads 90% humidity, i have a heater ontop of the water tabk could this be the reason
Mine to dis you get a fix?
Mine worked for 3 hours now it throws code 002 anyone know how to fix this
The big problem with this you will see is white dust all over from minerals with any ultrasonic. The hot steam type does not but uses a lot of electricity to boil water which distills the water .
Thank you for the information A D! I have been using the cool mist for about a month now and so far no residue. Good to know about the hot steam too
@@WordofAdviceTV With regular tap you should see a coating of white dust around unit, perhaps they solved that problem?
@@publicmail2 If I see the white stuff by the end of the winter season, I will try to remember to come back with an update :) I am using regular tap water. (Although in the manual it recommends using filtered water if possible)
@@WordofAdviceTV I don't think that is true for all cities. Where I lived before now I had no idea what hard water buildup was as we had none there. I used humidifiers too. Here, the humidifier on the furnace gets such heavy limestone buildup that it quits running. Same city, different suburb, and different water supply. Even my Shark steam mop quit because of the nasty water and blowing that out was exciting, lol.
You guys didn't do your homework.
You can buy a filter separately for $10. That will eliminate that problem. It's worth the extra money.
Here's a link for the filter.

This is the same as Wilfa HUE 6B. It spreads white powder all over the room. Not nice! I will get rid of mine after 3 winters of use.
Useless
