Wanting to be the best versus trying to get through your day...why is that so wrong?
I had the...honor? to do some Concierge work, and it always amazed me how little people actually know what they want to do. To boot, everyone believes the concierge has back-door access to reservations and tickets, but really I was just a glorified assistant. There's nothing I could do that the guest couldn't do by picking up a phone themselves.
Sorry, but it's not for me.
Also, this all assumes that your hotel has their systems well put together and you can focus on service. It really didn't matter what my title was, every department and area needed help. I certainly couldn't guarantee that the bellhops would deliver luggage on time, or promise with certainty that housekeeping made good on the extra requests.
I honestly can't recommend hotel work to anyone.
