  • Meet Borja Martin, Hotel Ritz Madrid’s Chief Concierge, who has spent his entire 18-year career at the iconic address. His team today calls him “professor” - a fitting title, since he says he has learned so much over the years working at the Ritz, calling the hotel’s legendary service “a school itself.” What are the essential skills for a concierge to have in a 5-star property like Hotel Ritz Madrid? Martin says, among other things, a flair for languages (a minimum of three), a lot of patience, and even a bit of acting talent will go far for those looking to make a career at the concierge desk. Listen as Martin explains his method for ensuring he and his team stay on top of the Madrid scene, and why he feels that front-of-house positions are gaining momentum and importance in the world of hotel management.

The Ritz Madrid is the best value hotel in the world... so affordable and right across the street from the Prado, the greatest museum on planet Earth. I love Madrid. A truly great city.

They must pay this guy a ton of money. Usually if a concierge is incredibly good at their job, they start their own business or a rich person will hire them to be a personal assistant.

They mostly live out of tips and commissions, for a concierge in general the paycheck is secondary

@@borjamartinguridi9718 jajaja hopefully someday! well I do not really like their models, but the question I was asking for is what kind of watch it is :P And after my research I can tell you that by the shape it is called Tonnneau Watch, and Richard Mille would be a nice reference to explain, but It actually became famous for the Cartier models... haha Muchas gracias por responder!

Thank you for your question. I had many opportunities to grow faster to a higher position, but I love this profession and my life is balanced. We only live once!
Anyhow instead of vertically I am growing horizontally making my position and my profession more and more important. I am, on top of Hotel Ritz Chief Concierge, Vicepresident of Les Clefs d'Or Spain and represent the Concierges and our brand all over the world

BORJA MARTIN GURIDI I can completely understand what you’re saying and I applaud you. Why spoil a great thing? Instead of growing higher in the company you chose to grow higher with the people around you and it works for you and everyone you come in contact with. You are not only a great professional at what you do but also a great human being and I hope to reach your level of success as I am currently booked for an interview to become a concierge/door man at a very high end company. Many blessings on all your journey and all your success.
