TBS UNIFY REPAIR | no output power

  • HI,
This is the repair of a UNIFY PRO vtx that suffered from a loss of power (vtx seems to work but at every output power level the range is zero).
It is a common issue with these video transmitters, with more reasons but the most obvious being powering it from 12v or LIPO voltage instead of 5v (there are 2 versions, one for 5v and one HV witch can take LIPO voltages with ease). Another reason can be damaged antenna or by powering it without an antenna that leads to too much current draw from the LDO.
    PART : AP7365-WG-7
I hope i said it all, if not please ask in the comment section.
    Thanks for watching.

This is amazing. This is way more technical and in depth than over 99% of other drone youtubers. Subbed. Love it.

I had this same problem (no video past 1 foot, even on 800mw) but I burned the pads off trying to fix it. I wish I would have seen this video a month ago. Thanks for putting this content out there!

Hi Livyu. I like your repair videos.
I have 2 not functioning TBS unify HV race.
Unify #1 is completely not turning on if we plug in the battery. Led not turning on and the vtx is not heating up at all.
Unify #2 is almost working. Led is on, vtx heating up, but it's only transmit video on channel L4 (very poor video) and we cannot change channel whatsoever. No overheating LDO.
Do you have any idea what component(s) is broken or need to be replaced? TIA

I flew my quad for 3-4 minutes without an antenna. When I measure the VTX output set in 800 I get a reading of max 250. Is this a consequence of my accident? If so, do you think this fix will do? (I subscribed to your channel, your videos are excellent :)

I ripped of this LDO by a cable strap. Even some pads are gone.
TBS told me the part number (ACE50936) but i was not able to buy it.
Where did you buy the LDO? Or did TBS gave you a different part number?

Livyu FPV , are both voltage regulators the same? The LEDs on 5v unify won't even come on. I'm sure I gave it 12v by accident..there is no obvious burns.

  • @niswardfpv7949

Super interesting... How do you manage to know that that ldo power the rf and the ather one powers other things??!!

    • @LivyuFPV
      @LivyuFPV  Před 6 lety +1

well it was pretty simple, the led's were working (sign that the MCU works) and I could see video transmitted but at at a range of max 1 meter (sign that the RF transmitter IC was working) and i measured the output from the both regulators and one was outputting 3.4v and the other 0 so this is how I ended up with the conclusion

@@LivyuFPV Thank you very much! Your video is very useful.
I accidentally fried my video transmitter. I ordered a new part to replace it.But when I was shooting the old one, one track ( the third one, which is on the edge) came off along with my leg. Very sad.
Maybe you know where you need to solder this third leg to make everything work? Thank you in advance!
