Sorry but this is dreadful, bass line is fine but vocals from Simon and melody are probably the worst I've heard from the band, I'm a big fan but I am so pleased this never made it onto a B side let alone an album.
That's why it's a demo. Don't you understand the difference between a demo and a song? You'd be scared to hear the demos of the band's best songs. PS: Anyway, did you write your comment taking into account all the songs of the band? IMHO, this is way better than the crap they did after The Wedding album until Andy's return with some exceptions.
