  • This military march from the Beiyang Government of the Republic of China is called the Beiyang Army Training Song though originally was called the General's Training Song during the Qing Dynasty by the New Armies. This military march is quite famous but also widely used as the march has been adapted from the Qing to the Beiyang to the National Revolutionary Army and later the People's Liberation Army. The tune is really recognisable considering it has been used over time by the Chinese Military with military songs like Three Notes and Eight Regulations, and Immortal China.
The Beiyang Army was one of the Qing Dynasties New Armies which was westernised and were later very influential during the 1911 Revolution and in the Republic of China after 1912. Led by its big boss Yuan Shikai, the Beiyang Army became part of the politics of the Chinese Government with its major role in Influencing the Republic of China. The Beiyang Army played much of its role in the revolution and they later on due to their big boss's death their warlords also ushered in a period of internal conflict and regional division called the Warlord Era.
