- "The General's Training Song" was originally a Qing army song that dates from 1895. This version is adapted for the Beiyang Army by the Chinese Warlord Zhang Zuolin in the 1920s Warlord Era.
“大帥練兵歌”最早是源自1895年的清軍軍歌。在1920年代的軍閥混戰時期被張作霖的北洋軍使用，產生此版本。

As stated in the video and description, the lyrics are for historical research and documentation only. As I was making the video, it truly saddened me to see the soldiers in the battle footage fall to the ground.

Also English translation typo at 1:25. It should be "Do not cause hassles for your officers."

北洋軍歌簡單明瞭，也有氣勢，聽一兩次就能哼上幾句
这个歌曲至少得让北洋官兵都会唱吧，如果不简单明了，官长或许没问题，但是那个年代的兵又没啥文化，复杂了肯定听不懂。
當時教育水準低落，識字率都不高，只能簡單明瞭。
这个词写的牛逼，这么长前后押韵，相比北洋水师的歌，而且字都不是啥难字，白话文简单容易懂，但是对国家的责任和自己的责任说的很清楚

Thank you sir! One of the complaints in comments I got from the Qing video was "the voice sounds too weak." I find it a valid criticism. So when I made this one, I paid special attention to the strength of my voice.

Seeing the men fall seemed very theatrical until i did further research and found out that its combat footage. I've got a few mausers, its no wonder the 8mm cartridge immediately drops these men in such a dramatic fashion. I forget the velocity but its a 180 grain bullet going very fast, its hellish. I only think about the more grim side of modern ballistics, my handgun or intermediate cartridges just behave differently. Scary to think that wars then were more akin to a civil war reenactment than what we have today. When shooting with my family my mom remarked how unpleasant it would be to go into combat with these large high powered rifles. Its an entirely different thing to be sent into the fray with a mauser rifle and no body armor across an open field, horrifying. Atleast if im hit these days i just break my ribs with the ingenuity of foreign ceramic plates

Just wondering I found Immortal China -Song of 57th division of National Revolutionary Army and it sounds the same melody wise, I would assume this is an older version from the Qing empire right? I know European powers often re-used or slightly altered well liked songs a lot too.
Yes, this is an older version of the song. However, not the oldest version! The original Qing Empire version is very similar, titled "The General's Training Song." I also have that on my channel. This version is from the 1920s during the Warlord Era, originating in the Beiyang faction of Zhang Zuolin.

Yes, that was real footage from a 1920s battle between warlords. The people you see fallen are not pretending, they were really hit.
